The Good
The 2011 Nissan Xterra offers strong performance with its V6 engine and true off-road capability, appealing to adventure seekers. Its proven reliability and robust design make it a practical choice for budget-conscious buyers. While not the most luxurious, its functional interior and decent value are definite advantages for those who need a capable and affordable SUV.
The Bad
The 2011 Nissan Xterra's weaknesses include relatively poor fuel economy compared to modern crossovers. The interior is basic and lacks some modern amenities. Potential buyers should watch out for rust, particularly in areas with road salt, and check the timing chain tensioner for potential issues. The rear leaf springs can also sag over time.

What Problems Does the 2011 Nissan Xterra Have?
How long will the 2011 Nissan Xterra last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are limited. It includes standard cruise control and tire pressure monitoring. Safety features comprise antilock brakes (ABS), stability control, and front and side airbags. There are no advanced driver-assistance systems like blind-spot monitoring or lane departure warning. Optional features included Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling (depending on the trim) and roof-mounted off-road lights on the PRO-4X.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) show mixed results. The Xterra received good ratings in some categories but marginal in others, particularly for side-impact protection. NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) ratings should also be consulted for a comprehensive safety assessment. Overall, the Xterra's tech and safety features are adequate for its time, but significantly less advanced than current offerings.

How Does the 2011 Nissan Xterra Compare to Other Wagon?
The Toyota 4Runner, while more expensive, offered superior reliability and resale value. In terms of features, the Xterra lagged behind some competitors, particularly in tech and driver-assistance systems. For pure off-road capability at a lower price point, the Xterra was a strong contender. If reliability and long-term value are paramount, the 4Runner is a better choice, albeit at a higher initial cost. The Jeep Cherokee (later models) provides a more modern and comfortable alternative for those who need light off-road capability but prioritize on-road refinement and fuel efficiency. The Xterra offers a compelling blend of affordability and ruggedness that some competitors couldn't match, though it does require accepting its compromises in fuel economy and interior refinement.

This Hauss will never let you down!I got this truck as a do all daily driving 4x4. It never had a major issue, maintenance was cheap and easy, i drove it from Texas to Michigan on 3 separate occasions with a roof full of luggage two dogs and my wife. Its comfortable, reliable and is equally capable, commuting, hauling kayaks or navigating offroad terrain. The thing just doesn?t quit. It?s a shame they quit making them because it?s one of, if not the best 4x4 SUV out there. There?s a reason these things are all over African desserts and the Middle East, because they can take the harsh conditions and keep going. Buy one if you get the chance, you won?t be disappointed.

Love our XterraOur 2011 Xterra is great! We had a 2003, but it was totaled in November 2017, and really enjoyed that vehicle enough to search out a newer model.

Awesome SUVThis is our 2nd Nissan Xterra and it meets all of our wants and needs in an SUV. Size, style, comfort, reliability, performance and towing power are all there. We have owned and driven our first Xterra for 9 years and the current odometer reading is 228,000+ miles. The Xterra is an AWESOME SUV. Our daughter owns and drives an Xterra, too. We are VERY disappointed that Nissan has discontinued production of this vehicle.

Great ValueWe have owned our 2011 Xterra since new. It has been my wife's daily driver and she loves it. In addition, we've used it for trips to the lake, family vacations, and driven it all over every square foot of our farm.
