The 2007 Nissan Armada is a full-size SUV built on Nissan's F-Alpha platform, sharing components with the Titan pickup. It features a robust body-on-frame design. The Armada was produced from 2004 to 2015 (first generation). Key trims for the 2007 model year include the SE, LE, and SE Off-Road. Original pricing ranged roughly from $35,000 to $45,000. Its ample interior space and towing capacity made it a popular choice for families needing a capable SUV.
The Good

The 2007 Nissan Armada offers a powerful 5.6L V8 engine for confident towing and acceleration. It provides a comfortable ride and spacious interior, appealing to families. While not the most fuel-efficient, it represents good value for those needing a large, capable SUV. The commanding presence and rugged design evoke a sense of security and capability.

The Bad

Fuel economy is a significant weakness. The 2007 Armada is known for relatively poor MPG. Potential buyers should watch for transmission issues, particularly rough shifting. Rust can also be a concern, especially in areas with harsh winters. Electrical problems and sensor failures have also been reported.

What Problems Does the 2007 Nissan Armada Have?

The 2007 Nissan Armada has several frequently reported problems. Transmission issues, including slipping and rough shifting, are common. Some owners have reported complete transmission failure. Exhaust manifold leaks are another concern, resulting in reduced engine performance and increased noise. Rust, especially around the wheel wells and undercarriage, is prevalent, particularly in regions with salt exposure. Electrical problems, such as malfunctioning sensors (ABS, TPMS), and issues with the power windows and door locks are also frequently cited.

There have been recalls affecting the 2007 Armada, including issues related to the fuel sending unit, which could lead to inaccurate fuel gauge readings and potential stalling. Check the NHTSA website for a complete list of recalls and ensure any outstanding recalls have been addressed.

Long-term reliability concerns revolve around the longevity of the transmission and the potential for costly repairs related to rust and electrical components. Routine maintenance, including regular fluid changes, can help mitigate some of these issues, but potential buyers should be aware of these potential problems.

How long will the 2007 Nissan Armada last?

With proper maintenance, a 2007 Nissan Armada can reasonably reach 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report exceeding this mileage with diligent upkeep. However, longevity heavily depends on maintenance habits. Neglecting fluid changes, particularly transmission fluid, significantly shortens its lifespan. Rust is a major long-term durability concern, especially in colder climates. Suspension components, such as ball joints and shocks, may require replacement over time. Electrical gremlins can also surface as the vehicle ages, requiring diagnosis and repair. Engines themselves are generally robust, but supporting systems require attention.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Nissan Armada came equipped with standard features like dual-zone climate control, a basic AM/FM/CD audio system, and power windows and locks. Higher trims like the LE added leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a Bose audio system. An optional rear-seat entertainment system with a DVD player and screen was also available. Driver-assistance features were limited for this model year, primarily consisting of anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC).

Safety features included front and side airbags, as well as curtain airbags for all three rows. The Armada also featured a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) were generally positive. The 2007 Armada received five-star ratings for frontal crash protection for both driver and passenger. Side-impact ratings were also favorable. However, ratings can vary depending on specific testing conditions. It's advisable to consult the NHTSA website for detailed and up-to-date crash-test information.

2007 Nissan Armada Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2007 Nissan Armada ranged from approximately $35,000 to $45,000, depending on the trim level and options. Currently, used market prices can vary significantly, typically ranging from $5,000 to $12,000. Depreciation has been substantial due to the vehicle's age, fuel economy, and potential maintenance costs. Factors affecting resale value include overall condition, mileage, service history, and geographical location. Vehicles with documented maintenance and lower mileage command higher prices. Rust-free examples are particularly desirable.

2007 Nissan Armada Cost of Ownership

The 2007 Nissan Armada is generally considered a costly vehicle to own long-term. Insurance premiums are moderate, but fuel costs are high due to its poor MPG. Maintenance can be expensive, especially if transmission or exhaust manifold issues arise. Repairs can also be costly. Budgeting for potential repairs is crucial. While relatively reliable when well-maintained, its age and inherent weaknesses contribute to higher long-term ownership expenses compared to more modern or fuel-efficient alternatives.

2007 Nissan Armada Insurance

Insurance for a 2007 Nissan Armada is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Wagon with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Nissan Armada Compare to Other Wagon?

The 2007 Nissan Armada competed with other full-size SUVs like the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and Toyota Sequoia. In terms of performance, the Armada's V8 engine was comparable to its rivals, offering ample power and towing capacity. However, its fuel economy was generally worse than the Tahoe and Sequoia.

Regarding features, the Armada offered a similar level of equipment as its competitors, but some might find the Tahoe's interior design more appealing or the Expedition's independent rear suspension providing a slightly smoother ride. The Sequoia generally enjoyed a better reputation for reliability.

In terms of price on the used market, the Armada can be more affordable than the Sequoia, but reliability concerns need to be considered. Alternatives to consider include the Toyota Sequoia, which offers better long-term reliability (but commands a higher price), or a newer generation Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon if budget allows. A Ford Expedition is a similar alternative with IRS. Consider the long-term maintenance history when making a decision, as it is crucial for the Armada.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Nissan Armada a Good Wagon?

The 2007 Nissan Armada is ideal for buyers needing a large, capable SUV for towing or hauling passengers on a budget. It's worth considering *if* you find a well-maintained example with a clean service history and no signs of rust or transmission issues. A pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic is essential. The SE trim offers the best value, while the LE adds luxury features that may not be worth the premium given the vehicle's age. Due to age, buying a used 2007 Armada has inherent risks. Consider alternatives if long-term reliability and fuel economy are top priorities.

So far I love this thing

I have back issues so I had to sell my infinity i30 and opt for the armada which is much easier to get in and out of . I didn’t know that it was so strong . I towed on a auto transport my infinity i30 to Arkansas over 500 miles in the rain and she did the job well. I must say Nissan builds some impressive vehicles.

Great traveling suv, a little bit of a gas guzzler, great people hauler, not great around town just because of the size and mpg. The armada make a great substitute for a Yukon or Tahoe.
