The Good
The 2011 BMW X3 offers a compelling blend of advantages. Emotionally, its sporty handling and BMW pedigree are appealing. Practically, it delivers a comfortable ride, a well-designed interior, and reasonable fuel efficiency for its class. Performance is strong, especially with the xDrive35i. What Problems Does the 2011 BMW X3 Have?
Long-term reliability concerns can center on the suspension components, such as the control arms and bushings, which may wear out over time and require replacement. The transfer case in the all-wheel-drive system can also be a point of concern, with some reports of premature failure, although this is less frequent than oil leaks.
Recalls for the 2011 X3 have been issued for issues such as potential fuel pump failures and airbag inflator problems (Takata recall). It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN against recall databases to ensure all necessary repairs have been performed. Regularly scheduled maintenance, including oil changes and inspections, is essential to mitigate some of these potential issues and prolong the vehicle's lifespan.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
In terms of safety, the X3 comes standard with antilock brakes, stability control, multiple airbags (front, side, and curtain), and BMW Assist emergency communications. Optional driver-assistance features included parking sensors and a rearview camera, which were highly desirable upgrades.
Crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) were generally good. The X3 earned top 'Good' ratings in several crashworthiness categories. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also provided solid overall safety ratings.
While lacking some of the more advanced driver-assistance systems of newer vehicles (like lane departure warning or adaptive cruise control), the 2011 X3 offered a solid foundation of safety and technology for its era. The optional navigation system and upgraded audio systems further enhanced the user experience.

How Does the 2011 BMW X3 Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Compared to the X3, the Acura RDX offers a simpler, more straightforward ownership experience with potentially lower maintenance costs. The Audi Q5 boasts a more modern interior design and available technology. The Volvo XC60 provides a more comfortable ride and a strong focus on safety features.
Depending on individual priorities, the Acura RDX could be a better alternative for buyers prioritizing reliability and lower running costs. The Audi Q5 is a compelling choice for those seeking a more contemporary interior and advanced technology. If safety and comfort are paramount, the Volvo XC60 is worth considering. The X3 holds its own with its sporty handling and BMW driving dynamics, appealing to enthusiasts.

2011 BMW x3Ibe had my car for almost 4 years I got it in highschool it is my first was got 2011 BMW X3 228i x-drive had 120k on it when I got it and now was 193k. I had no major issues besides replacing the coolant tank which was a quick fix and one of the gasket covers regular maintenance is just expensive but you know that before you buy. Great first car and super safe and reliable.

Nice car overallI have owned an older model and this vehicle is similar, although it has additional features than my older model. I have noticed an interior light that comes on randomly.

I had my BMW X3 for 8 years and love it!I love the German engineering and reliability of this vehicle. You take care of the BMW, it will always take care of you! Especially the run-flat tires were a blessing. they last very long and even if i had a flat - they kept me from having to change the tires in AZ heat!

The best car I’ve ever owned.I love this car and I got it for a steal! Super clean interior and clean exterior for the most part... It has a good amount of miles, but not too many to worry about. It drives great far distances. I’m glad the trunk is huge to fit my dog and my hula hoops.

BMW quality workmanshipThis car is the perfect SUV, not too big, not to small, just right with the sports car feel and plenty of power, along with 26 mpg ! The technology in the car is advanced as well, of course the BMW luxury seems to be included with all of thier models .

Fantastic all around SUV with lots of powerRoomy, stylish car, excellent panoramic moonroof, classical BMW interior. Drives a feels like a sport sedan. Drivetrain: - Fantastic transmission and engine. Bridgeport tires have been good to me. Not so great: - Fuel economy. - in the pothole-galore aka Jersey City, it struggled to get the wheels properly aligned. But that could be because of the roads.

Best X3 I've OwnedThis is the best X3 I have ever owned. This is my 3rd. The first one in 2004 was a very nice vehicle and I loved it, but that design was much smaller than my current one. The second was a 2007 and I honestly never liked it very much as I felt the transmission was just not up to par and again it was smaller than the redesigned 2011. I've had the current vehicle for 8 years now; it has almost 150K miles on it and is still going strong and I still love its appointments and performance.
