The Good
The 2007 BMW X3 boasts responsive performance thanks to its inline-six engine and capable all-wheel-drive system. It offers a comfortable ride and a premium interior. The BMW badge provides a sense of prestige (emotional), while its practicality as a compact SUV and available cargo space appeal to practical buyers. Relatively good fuel economy for its class adds to the value proposition.
The Bad
The 2007 BMW X3 is known for potential issues with its cooling system, including water pump and thermostat failures. Oil leaks, particularly from the valve cover gasket, are also common. Suspension components, such as control arm bushings, can wear out. Repair costs can be higher than average due to the BMW brand and parts availability.

How Does the 2007 BMW X3 Compare to Other Wagon?
Performance: The X3 often excelled in handling and driving dynamics compared to rivals, offering a sportier feel.
Features: Feature-wise, it was generally competitive, though some rivals might have offered more standard equipment for the price.
Reliability: Reliability is where the X3 can fall short compared to some competitors, particularly the Lexus RX and Acura RDX, which are known for their dependability.
Price: Used prices are now competitive, but repair costs can negate the savings.
Alternatives:
- Acura RDX: More reliable, potentially less engaging driving experience.
- Lexus RX: More luxurious, more reliable, larger size.
- Volvo XC60: Focus on safety and comfort, distinctive Scandinavian design.
If reliability is a top priority, the Acura RDX or Lexus RX might be better choices. However, if you prioritize sporty handling and the BMW driving experience, the X3 remains an appealing option, provided you're prepared for potentially higher maintenance costs.

BMW can be costlyWas a bear to keep up financially with repairs as the car aged! Be prepared financially to own a BMW as it ages and by all means find a reputable BMW mechanic!

Best car I’ve ever ownedThis car is fun to drive, fits my kids and all their sports equipment, and I didn’t feel like it was too big for me!

Found this on cars.com. Drove it. Bought it.This is a very sporty, solid SUV. Steering is very responsive and brakes are great. The M sport package makes the difference here. There are too many features to list. Find one in good condition like I did and don't hesitate.

Great handling and fun to drive SUVI bought it used, although it still looked and performed like new and all maintenance was done at BMW dealers. I have driven this vehicle during Minnesota Winters and the handling in icy/snow conditions is fantastic. I have taken this car through heavily snow covered back roads in order to truly test it's capabilities and it is nothing short of impressive. Summer driving is enjoyable and it truly feels like a sports car disguised as an SUV, although the ride can be a bit harsh on some of Minnesota's far from perfect roads. The things I don't like, but are willing to live with, are the center console storage compartment that looks and feels cheap and the ratcheting lid does not make any sense. The location of the AUX input jack behind this compartment is not driver friendly at all. As a car mechanic doing my own maintenance, the lack of dipsticks for engine oil and transmission fluid makes checking these fluids more complicated than necessary. These issues are minor however in comparison to what this car has given me. Any vehicle driven a few years in the harsh Minnesota climate will often result in the vehicle rusting away around you, but this X3, having 160,000 miles on the odometer, still looks fantastic. Having a vehicle that still looks this pristine underneath is worth owning and combining that with it's comfort and serious performance makes it the very best vehicle I have ever owned. I am very pleased with my decision to purchase this vehicle and would recommend it to anyone.

Well maintainedDealer, BMW independent shop, BMW Technician &/or owner maintained. This is my daily driver including once a week to PA. We originally leased it and purchased it after. Had it certified when we bought it.

never felt saferI'm a BMW lover so when my lease was up & family started growing, I decided to get an X3. Best decision ever~ such a smooth drive & so powerful. Good on gas miles too.

Don't need a premium vehicleThe X3 is roomy inside and pretty comfortable, but lots of cars are. Gas mileage isn't as good as I hoped and buying premium gas ... well, enough. Ride is a little rough but it's quieter than other vehicles. I'd watch out for the older X3s ... I don't know that enough care went into their build. 12 yrs and 120K miles and a lot of things are going wrong. I also hear similar stories from our mechanic.

Quality vehicle, stylish, good value for moneyThis car has been a good family car for us. We feel comfortable taking our two kids on trips in the vehicle and do not have concerns around performance. The car has held up well from a style perspective and the interior is very classic.
