What Problems Does the 2020 Hyundai Kona Have?
Recalls for the Kona have included concerns related to the engine, specifically piston ring issues that could lead to engine failure. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN on the NHTSA website to verify if it's affected by any open recalls and ensure that all recall repairs have been performed.
Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the potential for engine problems, especially with the earlier model years (including some 2020 models potentially affected by the aforementioned piston ring issue). Regular maintenance and adherence to the recommended service schedule are vital for mitigating these risks. Additionally, the longevity of the dual-clutch transmission has been questioned by some owners, making it important to monitor its performance and address any unusual symptoms promptly.

Final Verdict: Is the 2020 Hyundai Kona a Good Wagon?

I love my Kona, easy to get in and out of, runs great,I love my Kona, easy to get in and out of, runs great, great on gas. The only problem is the spoiler is plastic and the paint has faded. I think it is a flaw in the paint job. The paint is out of warranty but Hyundai is going to take a look at it and see if they can help in any way.

I have been using my Kona 2020 for five years (almost), II have been using my Kona 2020 for five years (almost), I am delighted except few minor problems I had. The rubber around the front left ( Automotive weather stripping) side which is on the body of the car is torn and the wipers were broken in few months. Overall I am happy with car. The driving on ice, snow etc during winter is so easy and stable.

Fun, sporty compact SUVI've been driving my 2020 Kona Turbo for 3 years now and my opinion on this car is ever-changing. Preface: I'm 18 years old and my parents got this Kona for me to earn and now daily drive. I thought the design team was off their rocker when I saw the tail light design, but my expectations were far too high. The whole look of the car grew on me and now I really think its one of the best looking subcompacts you can buy. I ended up with the lime green color w/ the green interior stitching, which also grew on me heavily. The Kona has such an aggressive stance that only gets better when i threw on 25mm wheel spacers (highly recommend if you're going for an aggressive look). I was taken aback at the performance of the green little bugger, it really surprised me how much giddy-up it has stock. Naturally, I was yearning for more performance so I picked up a chip-tune which made it the absolutely perfect vehicle to me. I haven't had any issues with the car other than those that are self-inflicted (meaning no fault of Hyundai), so with nearly 30k on the odometer id say this thing is pretty reliable so far, just don't forget to do your oil changes or the turbo wont be happy. Overall this is a GREAT car for anyone learning to drive. Not too powerful, AWD is a no-brainer, plenty of trunk space (even more with the seats down), and a comfy ride for the price point! Not to mention the Sport Mode adds some extra responsiveness to your driving experience. Overall great value.

Transmission problemOccasionally Has a problem when accelerating from after coming to a stop. The transmission gives a sensation that feels and sounds like we've been rear ended. Never does it at the dealership. We are afraid to leave town with it

My favorite vehicle I've owned!I have a Kona Ultimate 1.6Turbo and I absolutely love it! She's small but spacious and roomy. She's got incredible acceleration speed. Even tho it's a small crossover, it's bigger than you think. The trunk/cargo area is decent, but more like a car trunk than an suv trunk. The back seats are comfortable for my kids. The heated front seats are incredibly comfortable too!

Very disappointedI have owned my 2020 Kona for exactly one week. Drove approximately 10 miles. The check engine light came on. Might need new engine. 3-4 month wait. No loaners available. Very disappointed.

Simple but OUTSTANDINGI am renting this vehicle. This thing handles well. Turning radius is better than my mother's Toyota RAV4 in my opinion. Interior is really good. Control panel, driver controls, information display and selectors, are all simple and easy to get it where you would want set up. Blue tooth, radio, and touchscreen are the best!

Great Kona SEL PlusI got my 2020 Kona SEL Plus when they were getting in the 2021 Kona's in. They gave me a a great deal. They went back and forth with my husband and asked him to write down a price and they accepted. I love this car and takes me where I need to go and had a lot of pick up and go. The SEL Plus is loaded, but I think they now make a different trim. If you buy one you will love it. No problems so far, but I only have 8,000 miles on it. Will be 2 years old November 30, 2022. I'm retired so don't have to travel back in forth to work everyday. The only issue so far is the trunk is really small, but it still works for me.

Excellent CrossoverSo I used to own a Toyota IA I thought it was going to be a really fun sporty car, but none of the stuff that you would have thought you would have gotten with that car was there Fast forward. My wife and I are driving one day and I saw this car that looked fantastic and very unique. It wasn't until 2 months later that we saw it again and found out it was a Hyundai Kona. Si we went in and I got the 2021 Hyundai Kona and my wife was so impressed with it, she got the 2022 Hyundai Kona. It's not the greatest on gas mileage as you would need a hybrid if you're really looking for great gas mileage. But everything else about the car is truly outstanding. And last but not least I can't believe how many people have asked me what kind of car is that that looks really nice.

Good Value!Solid value! Milage exceeds 35 mpg on highways & around 24 in City driving. Highly reliable car. The only complaint I have is that the back seats don't have much legroom. I especially like the dashboard console, which is easy to read and operate! Back space with seats down is surprisingly roomy!
