I bought a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited in 2013. Up until this point, the car has been satisfactory. However, my car recently began making a ticking/knocking noise coming from underneath the hood. It became increasingly worse over the course of a couple days. After a few days, my car wouldn't even start. Apparently, many different people are experiencing the exact same issue, which is caused by a manufacturing defect with the engines that would require complete engine replacement. I cannot fathom how this is not a recall, since my car only just hit 102,000 miles. Hyundai is not willing to cover the repairs since the car is "passed warranty". I've read comments from other Hyundai owners who weren't even able to get it fixed when their car was under warranty. There is currently a class action lawsuit against Hyundai regarding this issue. Hyundai is claiming the owners are neglecting to take care of their cars, which I can tell you is not true. This is beyond frustrating and I hope that Hyundai's reputation is damaged because of their lack of responsibility on the issue.

Check the front spring coilsIf you purchase this car have the front coil springs checked very close. There was a partial recall done on some, not all, where the spring breaks and punctures the tire. Google this to learn moreΓΒ’Γ’βΒ¬ΓΒ¦ it just happens to me and thankfully was in the city going 20mg and not faster.

Elantra 2012 was made with to many blind spotGood on gas however has too many blind spots. Style of car has good appearance. Not a very good turn radiance backing up is very difficult Γ°à ¸ΓΕΓ’β¬Β’ due to blind spot

So far, so good!I wanted a car before the Fall and I'm so happy to get one. I've driven it for 5 days now and I really like it. It drives nice and I feel so comfortable in it. Even in the nasty rainy day I felt safe and no worries.

Decent Styling, EXTREMELY poor performancePurchased the 2012 Hyundai Elantra from a dealership 8 days ago My prior vehicle was a Lexus IS350. I had no expectations of the Hyundai being in the same performance level at the Lexus, but I definitely expected better than what I've gotten. The Elantra has very little acceleration, especially on the highway-- going up the slightest hill is a CHORE, the gas mileage is not what it should be from a 149 HP engine, and the steering and suspension and very below average at best. Yuo feel every bump in the road, and it fells like the car is going to "fishtail" if it hits something like the connectors for a bridge-- in AZ they have those in a lot of the ramps on the highway. AND it appears like the fuel pump is starting to go out-- car has a very hard time cold starting-- it's not the battery, starter, or alternator--just 8 days after I bought it, and it's about a $750-900 repair. There is no warranty on the vehicle. I made a BIG mistake buying this car. Now I'm stuck with it for 6 years. I really really really regretting my decision to get an Elantra.
