What Problems Does the 2013 BMW M6 Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2013 BMW M6 often revolve around the high-pressure fuel system, which can experience failures. Oil leaks, particularly around the valve covers and oil pan, are also commonly reported. Some owners have encountered electronic issues, such as glitches with the iDrive system or sensor malfunctions. The dual-clutch transmission (DCT) can be a source of concern, with potential for premature wear or failure, especially if not properly maintained or if the vehicle has been subjected to aggressive driving.
Recalls for the 2013 BMW M6 have addressed issues such as fuel pump failures and potential problems with the airbags. It's important to check the vehicle's history for any outstanding recalls. Long-term reliability concerns center on the complexity of the engine and electronics, which can lead to increased maintenance costs as the car ages. The twin-turbo V8, while powerful, requires regular maintenance and can be sensitive to fuel quality and driving conditions. Proper maintenance, including regular oil changes and adherence to BMW's recommended service schedule, is crucial for mitigating potential problems. Checking for service records and a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified BMW mechanic are strongly advised.

How long will the 2013 BMW M6 last?

With proper maintenance, a 2013 BMW M6 can realistically provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles of service or 10-15 years. However, this depends heavily on maintenance habits. Neglecting scheduled servicing will significantly reduce its lifespan. Long-term durability hinges on addressing potential weaknesses like the fuel system, oil leaks, and DCT maintenance. The complex electronics can also present challenges over time. Cars with detailed service records and evidence of proactive maintenance will generally offer greater longevity.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2013 BMW M6 boasts a comprehensive suite of built-in tech and safety features. The iDrive infotainment system, with its large display and rotary controller, manages navigation, audio, and vehicle settings. Standard features include a premium sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB ports.
Driver-assistance features include parking sensors, a rearview camera, and automatic high beams. Optional features added to the safety and convenience, such as lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and night vision with pedestrian detection. These technologies enhance situational awareness and mitigate potential accidents.
Safety features encompass multiple airbags, stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes. The M6 also features BMW's advanced braking system for enhanced stopping power. Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) or NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) specific to the 2013 M6 model year may be limited, but generally, BMW vehicles are engineered for high levels of safety. It's recommended to consult official safety rating sources for the most accurate information.

2013 BMW M6 Prices and Market Value

The 2013 BMW M6 had a starting MSRP of around $110,000 to $120,000 when new. As of today, used market prices typically range from $25,000 to $45,000, depending on mileage, condition, and options. The M6 has experienced significant depreciation due to its high initial cost and potential maintenance concerns. Factors affecting resale value include the car's condition, service history, mileage, and whether it's equipped with desirable options like the Competition Package or upgraded sound system. Lower mileage and meticulous maintenance records command higher prices.

2013 BMW M6 Cost of Ownership

The 2013 BMW M6 is generally considered costly to own. Insurance premiums are high due to its performance capabilities and value. Fuel costs can be substantial given its twin-turbo V8 engine. Maintenance and repair costs are also above average, as BMW parts and service tend to be expensive. Long-term ownership requires budgeting for potential repairs to the fuel system, transmission, and electronics. It's not an economical choice for budget-conscious buyers.

So far so good! Very impressed with the m6!!!

Coming from several BMW’s and of those 2 were M3’s, the M6 is a beast and performs fantastic. Makes you feel like you’re on a rocket and handles every curves well!

Haven't had it very long to form an opinion

Best car I've ever owned so far. I previously owned a 2008 m6 and this one is far beyond my expectations. Effortless power, smooth ride, great technology. The San Marino blue exterior with the Silverstone interior is a perfect color combination. I don't think I'll ever sell this car. I've seen the new BMW m8, and honestly, the power and technology is there, but overall looks, I don't think it compares. I think by far the best looking BMW in my opinion

High Luxury & Borderline Exotic. It is a BMW M6.

Great Asset!! Sticker price was over $100,000 brand new!! Now you can own it for way less than $30K It is a 2013 but this body is the same as the 2018. So basically you will drive a 2018 looking M6 for less than 30K (Clean Title) V8 - Full of Carbon Fiber - Clean Title - Red Leather - Ultra Dark Green Paint - Sits 5 people if needed, but is still a 2 door. Good Tires - M6 Package - Carbon Fiber Roof and Interiors - Keyless - Elegant, Modern & Sophisticated.

Awesome car! Ridiculously powerful and luxurious.

The M6 may be the sexiest and most reliable car I've ever owned. Beautiful detail and quality, wicked fast. Compliments on the color everywhere I go. Reliability was perfect with no trips to dealer except for regular maintenance. This is not a car, it is a life changing phenomena with wiper blades.
