The Good
The 2007 GMC Acadia offers a comfortable ride and spacious interior (appealing emotionally). Its V6 engine provides adequate performance. For practical buyers, it offers good cargo space, three rows of seating for families, and decent fuel economy for its class. While reliability isn't its strongest suit, it offers reasonable value for a large crossover.
The Bad
The 2007 GMC Acadia is known for potential transmission issues, including harsh shifting and premature failure. Timing chain problems are also a concern. Other issues include water leaks, electrical problems, and potential for excessive oil consumption. Suspension components may wear out quicker than expected. Regular maintenance is crucial.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2007 GMC Acadia Have?
Recalls have addressed issues such as seat belt cable fatigue and potential airbag malfunctions. Long-term reliability is a concern due to these issues; owners should be prepared for potentially costly repairs as the vehicle ages. Excessive oil consumption is a known problem, requiring frequent monitoring and topping off. The 2007 model year, being the first year of the Acadia, tends to have more reported problems compared to later model years in the same generation, as is typical with a new model. Regular maintenance, including frequent oil changes and inspections, is crucial to mitigate these risks.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Entertainment options included an available rear-seat DVD entertainment system. Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles, but the Acadia did offer StabiliTrak stability control and OnStar. Optional features included remote start and a power liftgate.
Safety features included standard front and side airbags, as well as side curtain airbags for all three rows.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) were generally good for frontal and side impact protection for its class, but specific ratings should be verified for the 2007 model year on their respective websites. Keep in mind that safety technology has advanced significantly since 2007.

How Does the 2007 GMC Acadia Compare to Other Wagon?
Price-wise, the Acadia was competitively priced when new, and used prices reflect its depreciation. Given the reliability concerns, the Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander are generally considered better alternatives, especially in the used market. They offer similar practicality with a stronger track record for reliability. The Ford Explorer offers a more truck-like driving experience but may also have its own reliability concerns. If you need a large crossover and budget is a primary concern, a well-maintained Chevrolet Traverse (its corporate cousin) might be a comparable alternative, but research specific years for reliability differences.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 GMC Acadia a Good Wagon?

Better be rich if you buy this!!Bought the 2007 Acadia brand new. Parts are very expensive. 78,000 miles timing chain was replaced. At 98,000 miles the car wouldn't start. It sounded like metal grinding. Took it to the shop and they said there was no oil. Where did the oil go? Who knows!!! The engine needed replaced. Spent $7200.00 to put a new engine in. At 112,000 miles the transmission would not shift. Spending $5900.00 to put a new transmission in it. We have put too much money into the engine that we had no choice but replace the transmission also.

Bank Breakerive had my GMC for 4 years now, i have replaced, the struts, ball joint, axels, break pads, stearing motor thing, break rotors, break booster, master cyl, THE MOTOR ITSELF for $3,000, body throttle, the ignition coils, the spark plugs. i have basically rebuilt the xxxx thing and refuse to let it go bc so much money has been invested! the problems just keep getting worse and worse ! the comfort is amazing but the quality is horrible, unbelievable amount of maintenance goes into it. I would get rid of it if i could! OHHH and the moon roof LEAKS!!! and costs $3,000 to replace (safe to say i hate rainy day).

After 130,000 miles and 8000 dollarsOn my way home after along day at work my car decided to rev the engine all alone to as far as it could go going at 20 mph coming to a stop smoking and throwing rod threw the engine. Since I bought this car out right from a car lot I have had nothing but problems returning it to the shop every week to be told that it is minor issues that they said i was out of luck. I need help

Junk lemonI have never owned a worse vehicle!! This is by far the worst vech I have ever owned and I will never buy another GMC again. Worst mistake ever purchasing this Acadia. I have only owned it 38 days and I have already had to stick over $500 into it for repairs and now the transmission isnt shifting properly its revving super high and doesnt shift also the air bag service light keeps coming on. Biggest pile of junk ever. GMC Acadia is by far a piece of junk and I regret getting it.

Not reliableI've had multiple problems with the car. Losing power several times while driving and taking it to get fixed but they keep saying it's the water pump, water pump. I stopped driving it for a while and now it won't even start and we put a new battery in it. Something else is wrong and they won't fix it. I need my car.

Have had so many issues with this vehicle.I love the inner bucket seats and 3rd row the Acadia has bit other than that these cars have so many issues. Old ones to new ones they all have mechanical issues. I would never buy one of these again.

Great vehicle with lots of extrasLove this vehicle, leather, colors both inside and out, ample space and leg room, 3rd row seating, only 16 mpg but it's paid for and will drive it as long as possible. Just got it in October 2017.
