The Good
The 2010 GMC Acadia offers a comfortable ride and spacious interior, appealing to practical buyers needing ample passenger and cargo room. Its smooth V6 engine delivers adequate performance. While not the most fuel-efficient, it provides decent value as a family vehicle. The Denali trim adds a touch of luxury, satisfying some emotional desires for a more premium experience.
The Bad
The 2010 GMC Acadia is known for potential transmission issues, timing chain problems, and excessive oil consumption. Electrical glitches and issues with the air conditioning system are also fairly common. Watch out for these problems during inspection before purchase. Pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic is highly advised.

What Problems Does the 2010 GMC Acadia Have?
Electrical issues, including problems with the door locks, power windows, and the radio, are also not uncommon. Some owners have reported water leaks, often from the sunroof or windshield. Recalls for the 2010 Acadia have included issues related to the seat belts and side impact airbags. Owners should check the NHTSA website for the latest recall information and ensure any outstanding recalls have been addressed.
Long-term reliability can be a concern due to these potential issues. Regular maintenance, including frequent oil changes and transmission fluid flushes, can help mitigate some of these problems, but they remain potential risks. Prior model years (2007-2009) had similar issues, suggesting these are inherent to the Lambda platform. Therefore, a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is crucial.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features were relatively limited compared to modern vehicles. Rear park assist was available on some trims. Safety features include standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, and six airbags (front, side, and curtain). Optional features included all-wheel drive for enhanced traction.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) generally show good performance. The Acadia typically received 4 or 5 stars in overall crash tests. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) also gave it good ratings in most categories. Keep in mind that safety technology has significantly advanced since 2010, so while it was considered safe then, newer vehicles offer more comprehensive protection.
The Denali trim offered the most advanced tech and features, including options like a navigation system with a touchscreen display, and upgraded interior materials. The availability of features varied greatly depending on the trim level and optional packages selected when the vehicle was new. It's important to check the specific features of any used Acadia being considered.

How Does the 2010 GMC Acadia Compare to Other Wagon?
Price-wise, a used Acadia is often more affordable than a comparable Highlander or Pilot due to its higher depreciation. The Traverse, being mechanically similar, offers a similar value proposition. Considering reliability and long-term ownership costs, a Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot from the same model year are generally better alternatives, despite potentially costing more upfront. These offer superior reliability and are likely to be cheaper to own in the long run. If budget is a major concern and you're willing to risk potential repairs, the Acadia could be considered, but a thorough pre-purchase inspection is crucial. The Mazda CX-9 also offers a sporty driving experience and good reliability.

Bought this car used in 2021.Bought this car used in 2021..ran ok for a year. Then in the summer of 2022 my timing chain went put. Cost 6 grand to fix. Fixed It then it went out again. Had it fixed a 2nd time. 3rd time it broke and damaged my engine. Put a new engine in it and with in a few months the engine would misfire like crazy. Then my throttle body went out. Then the catalytic converter went out. Had multiple body problems with the lateral arms going bad. Get a 1999 tahoe. Way better. Don't get this car if you value your money. Avoid at all costs.

TerribleI bought this car used only had 100,00 miles on it. Was Soo sharp looking nice n clean on the inside. Sooo spacious!! I absolutely loved that I always had room for everybody!! My kids and my friends kids always had plenty of room!! Other then that this is by far been the worst car I have ever owned!! I am still pissed off at myself for not walking past this price of xxxx!! I think I have replaced everything you can think of on it and right now it's not even staying started! I've had it to 7 diff mechanics and none can seem to figure it out!! I have had it 3 years and I just had to finally stop putting money in it and get another car because it was drowning me n repair costs!!! One of thee worst mistakes I could have made was buying that suv!! Good luck

Nothing but problemsI have this vehicle worse mistake ever. Looks good from the outside nice inside but after having it 3 months had to out a new timing chain, the AC needs to be replace. Power steering pump is on its way out. Just locks on you . got the warranty but still DOESNT cover everything . only good thing is before the power steering started up I had enough room for my kids and their friends . that's the only good thing about it. Might look sharp looking but JUST take a picture and walk by ... I hate it. Nothing but issues since I got it. Time to get rid of it costing me to much to fix

One of the worst cars I've ever ownedI bought the car used and have since had to replace the engine twice and noe the airbags deployed from hitting a pothole and the seatbelts are locked. Pricey repair bills

I like the back up camera inside the rear view mirTest drive before you buy.....so far it's good but it's expensive for gas to fill up was $70. And city plates is $301 and also the car is heavier than the ford explorer that's why everything is so expensive

Most unreliable vehicle I’ve ever owned!!!This vehicle is really disappointing to me. I’ve invested more money in it than it’s worth. I will definitely be selling or trading it in.

Nice vehicleThis vehicle is exactly what I wanted. The exterior is a beautiful pearl white color and exterior is in mint condition. It has little to no prior issues with it.

Worst vehicle ever owned!!!My mother bought this car used. Within the first month has to replace the engine. She has had to replace just about ever part under the hood. Some things several times. She keeps having to have work repeated over and over again on this vehicle. With the amount of money she has had to drop on this vehicle it could have done been paid off! Her engine isn’t 2 years old and blew up again. Mechanic says these vehicles are known for nothing but problems! Will never buy a gmc again!

Car RepairsI bought my 2010 GMC Acadia about a year and a half ago. I really like it if it worked all the time. I had to have the air conditioner worked on. The dealer fixed the front but was going to cost $700. So I have no air in the back. It stopped in the middle of the road. It was the alternator. I’ve had it in the shop 3 times for the power steering pump. I have to take it back again for the same reason. I’m a single woman and I need a reliable vehicle. I don’t have money to put in it any more. I’m very dissatisfied.

Great comfort for a large familyThe 2010 GMC Acadia is timeless. The design, feel, and ride make it seem like a much newer car. It has been very reliable to me and my family for the past seven years. It is still in great shape, is perfectly roadworthy now… And needs just a little work with the timing chain and axel.
