The Good
The 2014 Hyundai Sonata offered a compelling blend of advantages. Practically, it delivered good fuel efficiency and a spacious, comfortable interior. Reliability was generally solid. Emotionally, its stylish design appealed to buyers seeking a modern look. The Sonata's strong value proposition, with many features for the price, was a major draw, making it a smart and satisfying choice.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2014 Hyundai Sonata include some reports of engine issues, particularly with the 2.4L engine, involving potential oil consumption problems. The suspension, while comfortable, isn't particularly sporty. Also, some owners have reported minor interior trim issues. It's important to check service history for oil consumption and potential recall work.

I've premium Auto version of 2014 Hyundai Sonata.I've premium Auto version of 2014 Hyundai Sonata. Purchased in 2024 with very low Kms of about 65k but had an issue with starter motor when it came to 70k, other than that, it now runs lit. Been servicing on every 5-7k, it tops comfort & luxury & can challenge any modern car with similar features.

Rough rideRecently bought a used 14 with 47k mi. Sits too low, terrible ride. Every tiny bump in the road is felt and sent straight up to the driver's seat. The car may be able to endure the shock but the driver won't. Get rid of it and get a Camry or accord.

Four and CountingMy 2014 Sonata is my fourth Hyundai. I never have had a major problem with any of them. My current Sonata Limited has 70k plus on it. My only complaint on my current car is that the passenger seat sits too low and its a little difficult for the passenger to exit. Other than that I wouldnt hesitate to buy another Hyundai.
Don't Buy Sonata on September 3, 2023
Do not buy a Sonata!!!Get ready to stress out if you buy a 2014 Sonata. Your alarm will go off on the middle of the night and the dealerships are clueless of how to fix it. But most importantly the engine blows up. Good luck.

Love my SonataI purchased Sonata in 2016 with 32k and to tell you the truth i loved it. I was very meticulous with all the upkeep on my cars and sad to say the engine blew at 81k. I looked online and found that there was a class action lawsuit and by verifying my car by Vin

Brakes!! Battery!! Too much $$$$I have owned this car for 8 years and it is digging me to death. I put out $1854 last May for the hybrid battery. It came back to me with the brake light sensor coming on every once in awhile. Then it stayed on. I had my brakes checked - absolutely nothing wrong. Now this gawd awful beeping started sounding off. I take it in they tell me "it is the boost kit. Oh and it will cost $1800 to repair". What the xxxx? I will never buy another hyundai or hybrid ever!!!

Engine problemsI loved it when I first got it. I changed the oil religiously, and kept up with all the maintenance needed. Then, bam, my engine locked. There was no oil leak, no signs. It started burning oil the mechanic said. I believe there was a defect in the engine. There is a recall on this model but when I called, they said it wasn't my VIN number.

Love itIt's really my first car and it is wonderful. The inside is definitely me and it drives so very smooth. Even with a cracked side mirror, it's still an awesome car

Great car for the price!I find this car reliable, great on gas, appearance is a +! The cost, miles on car and gas mileage were variables I considered when purchasing. I am overall very happy.
