Analysis
What Problems Does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Have?
For the B250e (electric model), a major concern is battery degradation over time. The battery's capacity can decrease, leading to a shorter driving range than originally advertised. Potential buyers should have the battery's health assessed before purchasing a used B250e.
While recalls specific to the 2016 B-Class may be limited, it's crucial to check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website for any recalls related to safety or emissions. Recalls are often vehicle-specific based on VIN, so verifying any open recalls is essential.
Long-term reliability concerns generally revolve around the electronic components and the potential for higher repair costs associated with a Mercedes-Benz. Regular maintenance, including oil changes, brake service, and fluid checks, is essential to prolong the vehicle's lifespan. The B250e, due to its electric powertrain, has fewer moving parts compared to a gasoline engine, potentially reducing some maintenance costs, but battery replacements can be expensive.
How long will the 2016 Mercedes-Benz B-Class last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Optional driver-assistance features included adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and park assist. These features enhance safety and convenience, making driving less stressful, especially in urban environments. The B250e model also included specialized displays for monitoring battery status and energy consumption.
Safety features included anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a suite of airbags (front, side, and curtain). While specific crash-test ratings for the 2016 B-Class from organizations like NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) might be limited due to its limited availability in certain markets (like the US), Mercedes-Benz vehicles generally adhere to high safety standards. Consider researching Euro NCAP ratings, as the B-Class was sold in Europe.
The Harman Kardon sound system was also an available upgrade, providing a premium audio experience for music lovers.

How Does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Compare to Other Hatchback?
Reliability is generally good, but some owners have reported minor issues, placing it on par with or slightly below Audi. Price-wise, the B-Class is positioned as a premium offering, similar to its German competitors. However, given its hatchback configuration and limited availability in some markets, alternatives might be preferable depending on individual needs.
Alternatives to consider include: the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer (for sportier handling), the Audi A3 (for a more refined interior), or even a Lexus CT 200h (for hybrid efficiency and Toyota reliability, though it is less spacious). If you need more space and are less concerned about the brand, consider larger hatchbacks from mainstream manufacturers like Mazda or Volkswagen. The B-Class is best suited for those specifically seeking a small, premium hatchback with a Mercedes-Benz badge.

Worst car purchase in my historyThe MB B200 was a fun car to drive, comfortable and stylish, but that's where everything stopped. The CVT transmission was a terrible nightmare to deal with (had to put 3 into the car), and electrical problems all over the place. Not a good experience.

Once u go Benz, it search is at endzThis car drives nicely, handles great and has great fuel mileage. Eco mode makes it easy to save on gas but still get a little pick up and go. Throw it in sport and u have ur very own mini sports car. Vroom vroom. The amount of interior space is shocking when u are looking at such a compact car. With heated seats and rain sensing wipers this model has some extra perks as well. I never thought that a Mercedes would be the car for me. But now that I have this car i wont ne going back to any other make.
