What Problems Does the 2000 Mitsubishi Galant Have?
Recalls for this model year were generally related to safety features, such as airbags or seatbelt mechanisms. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN against recall databases (NHTSA) to ensure all necessary repairs have been completed.
Long-term reliability hinges on diligent maintenance. Neglecting regular servicing can exacerbate the aforementioned issues. Pre-purchase inspections by a qualified mechanic are highly recommended to assess the vehicle's overall condition and identify potential problems before they become costly repairs. The 2000 model year, while generally reliable, is still subject to the wear and tear associated with a vehicle of its age.
How long will the 2000 Mitsubishi Galant last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included dual front airbags and anti-lock brakes (ABS) as an option on some trims. Side airbags were not available.
Optional features varied by trim level but could include air conditioning, power windows and locks, cruise control, alloy wheels, and leather upholstery.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) generally indicated a decent, but not exceptional, level of protection for occupants. Scores typically ranged from 3 to 4 stars for frontal impact protection. Rollover ratings were lower, reflecting the era's vehicle safety standards. It's important to note that safety technology has advanced significantly since 2000, so these ratings should be considered in context with other vehicles of similar age.

How Does the 2000 Mitsubishi Galant Compare to Other Sedan?
Reliability-wise, the Camry and Accord generally had a better reputation than the Galant, while the Altima's reliability was similar. The Taurus was often considered less reliable. In terms of price, the Galant was typically more affordable than the Camry and Accord, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.
Alternatives to the 2000 Galant include the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord for superior reliability, albeit at a higher price point. The Nissan Altima offered a similar blend of performance and value. If reliability is a primary concern, the Camry or Accord would be a better choice. For value and decent performance, the Galant remains a viable option, especially if found in good condition and with a lower price tag.

This is a race carI've had my 2000 Galant for almost a year. and it has over 160,000 miles on it. it has no exhaust and it's very loud. Best car I've ever owned when it comes to gas mileage. Drives good in snow. this car has never let me down. I traded it for 97 Cadillac once but immediately traded back. this car is amazing and it really is a race car. i recommend it to anyone

Best car I've ever owned.Bought it new in 2000, now has 180,000 plus miles. Changed oil every 3,000 miles. Had a wheel stud break off for a scary shudder and replaced the thermostat which is normal in Minnesota. Went through three sets of 60,000 mile tires. Need to replace the anti-sway linkages now and the tie rods too. Normal maintenance for a high mileage vehicle. Only complaints: 1) would have liked an inch or two more leg room for the driver and; 2) the turning radius is too long.

I Love My MitsubishiI absolutely love this car. It is very reliable and has not gave me any major issues. I purchased this car used in 2014. It is still going strong with almost 200,000 miles on the car.

Point A to Point B & MoreI bought my Galant used, it now has 207,021 miles, and it still runs great. Neither me or the previous owner ever had any serious trouble with this car, just a few maintenance things here and there. Excellent gas mileage, especially for a car that's 17 years old. The interior is very stylish and comfortable, and the exterior is modern and sharp. When I came home with it for the first time, my neighbors thought it was a BMW! Great reliability and style, will definitely be buying Mitsubishis from now on.

2000 Galant ES 4 cyl. is GREAT!!!!I bought this car about a month ago and other than a fair amount of rust underneath the vehicle, the car was definitely worth what I paid for it. It has more power than my 98 corolla and it is a very reliable. It has almost 200,000 miles on it and I did have to have the transmission flushed due to a shudder but $200 later and the shudder is gone. The engine runs great although like many Mitsubishis, it does have a lifter tapping once in a while but does not affect the way it runs at all. I bought this car because my 2004 Malibu was totaled. It is not my Malibu but I am very satisfied with this car. I would recommend this car to anyone.

Very reliableOverall this car is fantastic. Mine has 180K on it after almost 12 years. Ive owned it for 4 years and never had any issues until this year (12/2011) I had to change the coils but I guess its expected with so many miles on it. Ive basically just done routine maintance on it and I have kept up the regular oil changes and thats about it. I had to have it towed a few weeks ago and the tow truck driver said he NEVER sees a Mitusbishi on the back of his tow truck. I took that to mean that Mitsubishi is reliable and hardly ever breaks down.

Fun car to driveI bought this car new in 2000 (LS V6). It's been 11 years and 125,000 miles now and the car still runs well. I did all maintenance as per the manual. It has plenty of power (195 HP). Had to spend about $2,500 in repairs over the last 11 years. It runs great even at speeds over 90 MPH.

Sweet n SimpleWhat a great car, I've owned it for a year and a half now, and it has never let me down. I have the inline 4 ES so I don't have much power at my feet but that's not why I bought it. It fills its role flawlessly, getting from point A to B without issue. It also has good styling in an out, never looks old, is comfortable, and will get you to speed merging onto the highway quite quickly. All of this is, of course, compared to other similar models with the same role. I love mine, it's never let me down.
