The Good
The 2005 Mitsubishi Galant offered a comfortable ride and a distinctive design, appealing to emotional buyers. Practically, it provided a spacious cabin, decent fuel efficiency (especially with the four-cylinder engine), and a competitive price point. The V6 engine offered adequate performance for those seeking more power. The Galant presented a good overall value proposition.
The Bad
Known weaknesses of the 2005 Mitsubishi Galant include potential transmission issues, especially in the V6 models. Suspension components can wear out, leading to a less comfortable ride. Interior materials may feel cheap, and some owners have reported electrical problems. Rust can also be an issue, particularly in areas with harsh winters. What Problems Does the 2005 Mitsubishi Galant Have?
Recalls for the 2005 Galant, though not extensive, have addressed issues such as potential fuel leakage and airbag malfunctions. It's essential to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls. Long-term reliability can be affected by these issues, leading to higher maintenance costs over time. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes and inspections, is crucial to mitigate these potential problems. Some model years may have specific issues, so researching year-specific problems is advisable before purchasing.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included standard front airbags and anti-lock brakes (ABS) were often optional or included on higher trims. Side airbags were also available as an option.
Crash-test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) generally show the 2005 Galant performed reasonably well in frontal and side-impact tests, earning mostly four-star ratings. However, these ratings should be considered in the context of the testing standards of the time. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) ratings also provide insights into its crashworthiness. Overall, while the 2005 Galant offered adequate safety features for its era, it lacked the advanced technologies found in newer vehicles.

How Does the 2005 Mitsubishi Galant Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of price, the Galant was often more affordable than the Camry and Accord when new. However, its lower resale value reflects its reliability concerns. If reliability is a primary concern, the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord would be better alternatives. The Nissan Altima or Mazda 6 are similar alternatives for those seeking a sportier driving experience or a more stylish design. Ultimately, the Galant offered a decent value proposition, but its rivals provided better overall packages.

Final Verdict: Is the 2005 Mitsubishi Galant a Good Sedan?
Galant on October 22, 2019
Most powerful car I've ownedThis car has plenty of power in it. It goes from 0-80 mph in less than 6 seconds. A reliable car to get from one place to another. Has few cosmetic defects but the engine and transmission is in mint condition. Would love to get your hands on this beast.

Great SedanWith the GTS version you get the larger engine very spirited engine. I get an honest 26-27 MPG highway and 22 city, I really enjoy driving this car. It has been in the shop under warranty once for a oxygen sensor, other than that in 44,000 it has been trouble free. Strong point is engine and weak point is Brakes. To bad Mitsibishi is like GM and Chrysler.

Most Reliable Car I've OwnedThe Mitsubishi Galant brings value, styling and competence to the mid-size sedan market. That's no small feat when competing against superb sedans such as the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Nissan Altima. The Galant is enjoyable to drive and offers all the benefits of the other cars in this class. There's a lot to like about it and including it in your shopping list makes good sense. In the past, Mitsubishi has played around the edges of the mainstream market, offering products best known for their quirks and eccentricities. But that changed with the introduction of this all-new, larger, and greatly improved Galant.
It's a Excellent Car on January 9, 2009
Great Car 4 the ValueI just bought this car in October to replace it with my 97 Thunderbird. I love this car. Me being 6'5, I needed a car that would have enough leg room. This car as enough leg room and then some. The car is great for the value, I really got my money's worth. For the car being a 4 cylinder it has great pick up, and it's excellent on the road. I go to Kentucky every other weekend, and it rides very smooth. I love it.

I love this car! After replacing a 1996 Monte Carlo with this car, I am in love. The rear seating cabin is enormous and comfortable support for legs and legroom. The front seats are large and comfortable and the dash is layed out nicely. The steering is good and I get 33 mpg on interstate trips with the cruise on. The four cylinder is plenty strong for everyday driving. This is one nice car with no rattles or squeeks. A pleasure to drive.
