The Good
The 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage offers excellent fuel efficiency, a major selling point for practical buyers. Its affordability is appealing to those on a tight budget. While not a performance car, its small size makes it easy to maneuver in urban environments. The extensive warranty provides peace of mind, addressing emotional needs related to reliability.
The Bad
The 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage's weaknesses include its underpowered engine, resulting in slow acceleration. The interior materials feel cheap and the ride can be uncomfortable on rough roads. Wind and road noise are also noticeable. Potential buyers should be aware of these limitations before purchasing.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage Have?
Recalls for the Mirage are relatively infrequent, but potential buyers should check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any open recalls related to their specific VIN. While major mechanical failures are not common, long-term reliability can be affected by infrequent maintenance. The small engine, while fuel-efficient, works hard and may exhibit wear over extended periods if not properly cared for. The interior, while functional, is made of lower-grade materials that may show wear and tear over time. Overall, while not perfect, the Mirage tends to be relatively reliable, particularly if maintained according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Potential buyers should prioritize regular servicing and address any unusual noises or performance issues promptly.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Higher trims add features such as lane departure warning and automatic high beams. Driver-assistance features are relatively limited compared to some competitors, focusing on essential safety rather than advanced technology. Safety features include anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and multiple airbags.
Crash-test ratings vary depending on the organization and model year. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA provide crash-test results. It's advisable to check their websites for the most up-to-date ratings specific to the 2023 model. While not packed with cutting-edge technology, the Mirage provides essential features for connectivity and safety, making it a practical choice for budget-conscious buyers. The inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a significant plus, allowing users to utilize their preferred navigation and entertainment apps.

How Does the 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?
Price is where the Mirage shines, often being the least expensive new car available. The Chevrolet Spark is a similar alternative in terms of price and size, but it was discontinued after 2022. For buyers prioritizing fuel efficiency and a low purchase price above all else, the Mirage is a viable option. However, if performance, features, or a more refined driving experience are important, the Kia Rio or Nissan Versa are better choices. The Hyundai Accent (discontinued after 2022) was also a strong contender. Ultimately, the Mirage is best suited for budget-conscious buyers who prioritize affordability and fuel economy over other considerations.

Mitsubishi MessVery hard drive. Struggles when changing gears, drives really hard when AC is running. Good on gas though. It’s reliable and dependable so far. A younger or older person’s type vehicle not for a person that needs power and speed

Fun car great MPG!Was looking for a basic hatchback with good gas mileage that wasn't stupid expensive. Commute to work and so far combined I get 42mpg. Rides as good as any car I have owned (with one exception). Performance wise have no idea how old the reviewers are or even if they actually drove the car as it has no problem on the highway or in town driving, rarely do I exceed 4,000rpm to keep up with or ahead of traffic. It's like people don't remember how cars were in the past before the horsepower race to cram 250-350hp engines into everything. In town it's 0-30 that matters but even the 0-60 of 10.4 sec is equal to or better than most small cars from the 70's-90's. Only car I owned that was faster was my '73 Jaguar XJ12. Almost identical 0-60 were my CRX, Opel GT, 200sx. My Triumph Spitfire was way slower. But they were all fun cars to drive.

Best small car!Went to buy a used car for under $10,000 in 2016. Ended up with a new Mirage. It was a wonderful car. A year later bought a new one for $10,000 again for a daughter to drive to school .A year later bought a another new one for $10,000 for a daughter starting school. Loved having new cars and the gas mileage is outstanding for around town. One daughter sold her car for $10,400 after graduating. These are the best cars for the price. Still have two and when I need another for my 3rd daughter I will buy another Mirage.
