What Problems Does the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, and prior model years in this generation, often revolve around the infotainment system. Some owners have reported glitches, freezing screens, and connectivity issues with the Uconnect system. There have also been scattered reports of electrical problems, including issues with the sensors and safety systems. Some owners have mentioned problems with the air suspension on higher trims, leading to expensive repairs.

Recalls can vary, so it's crucial to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the latest information. Past recalls have included issues with the rearview camera, steering column, and airbag systems.

Long-term reliability is still being assessed as this generation is relatively new, but early indicators suggest that some owners have experienced more issues than average compared to competitors. Consistent maintenance and addressing issues promptly are crucial for long-term reliability. Paying close attention to the electrical systems and potential air suspension problems (if equipped) can help mitigate some risks. Checking online forums and owner reviews can provide valuable insights into potential issues to watch out for.

How long will the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L last?

With proper maintenance, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L can realistically achieve 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-15 years of service. Regular oil changes, timely servicing of the transmission and cooling systems, and proactive attention to any warning signs are crucial. Weaknesses over time often include potential issues with the electrical components, air suspension (if equipped), and the Uconnect infotainment system. Rust can also be a concern in areas with harsh winter conditions, so undercoating and regular washing are recommended.

Love my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland Reserve for hauling kids / traveling on vacation with dog included. All safety features work as expected and provide the extra level of comfort / safety we expect from a next generation vehicle.

Love it! Upgraded from Cherokee Limited and could not be happier. Ride, interior space and mileage all are great. I am short and spouse is tall and it is comfortable for both of us!

I just purchased the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in August 2023. It is too early hopefully to have any issues with it but as of today, I love this SUV sooo much. I have owned all kinds of 3 row vehicles, MDX, Tahoo, Explorer, Pilot over the years and this is by far the best one I have owned. Prior to buying this I test drove all kinds of 3 rows too. This wins by miles!

I bought a brand new 2023 Grand Cherokee L in October 2023. Two weeks after I bought it, it started having multiple electrical issues such as AC not working, center console shutting down, door locks not working, windows not rolling up or down, etc. Buying this vehicle has been an absolute nightmare, and the customer service given by Jeep is nonexistent. They are aware they sold me a defective vehicle that is having some serious issues, some of them, safety hazard, and they don't care. Please stay away from Jeep.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L boasts a comprehensive suite of technology, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system, with its user-friendly interface and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, is standard. Higher trims offer larger touchscreen displays, premium audio systems (like McIntosh), and rear-seat entertainment systems.

Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. Optional features include a surround-view camera system, park assist, and night vision.

Safety features include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and traction control. Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) should be consulted for the latest information; typically, the Grand Cherokee L performs well in crash tests, earning good ratings for occupant protection. Overall, the Grand Cherokee L offers a good balance of standard and available tech and safety features, enhancing both convenience and peace of mind.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L had a starting MSRP around $45,000, with higher trims exceeding $70,000. Current used market prices vary based on condition, mileage, and trim level, generally ranging from $35,000 to $60,000+. Depreciation is moderate, as Jeep SUVs generally hold their value reasonably well. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, maintenance history, trim level (higher trims retain more value), and the presence of desirable options like 4x4 and premium audio systems. Demand for SUVs also plays a significant role.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Cost of Ownership

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is moderately costly to own. Insurance premiums are average for its class. Fuel costs can be significant, especially with the V8 engine. Maintenance costs are typical, but repairs, particularly for the air suspension or complex electronics, can be expensive. Long-term ownership costs are influenced by reliability; addressing issues promptly can prevent larger problems down the road. Overall, it's not the most economical choice but offers a balance of luxury and capability.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Insurance

Insurance for a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L competes with the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Kia Telluride, and Hyundai Palisade. In terms of performance, the Grand Cherokee L offers good engine options and superior off-road capability compared to most rivals. Feature-wise, it's competitive, offering a similar array of technology and comfort features. However, reliability is a weaker point compared to the Toyota Highlander and Kia Telluride.

Price-wise, the Grand Cherokee L is generally in the same ballpark as its competitors, but higher trims can become more expensive.

Alternatives to consider: The Toyota Highlander offers better reliability and fuel economy. The Kia Telluride provides excellent value for money with a spacious interior and long warranty. The Ford Explorer offers a sportier driving experience, while the Hyundai Palisade has a luxurious feel at a slightly lower price point. Depending on individual needs (off-road capability vs. reliability vs. budget), one of these alternatives might be a better choice.

Ranks #1117 SUV

Final Verdict: Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is ideal for families who need a spacious three-row SUV with a touch of luxury and the option for off-road capability. It's worth buying if you value its blend of comfort, performance, and Jeep's iconic styling. However, be mindful of potential reliability issues and higher running costs.

A used model might offer better value, but thoroughly inspect its maintenance history. Opting for a lower trim level (Laredo or Limited) can save money, but higher trims (Overland or Summit) offer more features. Carefully weigh your priorities (reliability, luxury, off-road) before making a decision.

My car has serious problems with the electrical system.

My car has serious problems with the electrical system. My navigation screen shuts off while I am driving and will not start up again until I shut the car off and restart. Then the navigation system reboots. The radio also shuts off and won't come back on until the car is shut down. I have had three instances where the car has started itself. The first time I actually watched as the tail lights came on and I sent my husband down to see why the lights were on and he found the car running. The second time he was actually going out and found the car running, The last time a neighbor came and told me my car was running. All three times the keys were on the counter and not in our possession. I have taken it to the dealer, they can not find anything in the diagnostic of the car. I find it hard to trust this vehicle. It is a lease and I can not wait until my lease is up. I original wanted to buy this car but no longer. This is the fourth jeep I have owned and the only one with such problems.

Love my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland Reserve for

Love my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland Reserve for hauling kids / traveling on vacation with dog included. All safety features work as expected and provide the extra level of comfort / safety we expect from a next generation vehicle.

Grand Cherokee Overland L

Just traded my 2014 GG Limited (had 101,000 trouble free miles on her) for a new GC Overland L. Only have 6000 miles on it but so far I am extremely impressed with vehicle. Comfortable, plenty of piwer with the trusty V6. I am still warming up to the exterior of the L, I think the new style looks much better in the two row model and the okd style looks better than both new ones! Time will tell, but after 8 jeeps I have yet to have any major issues.

Jeep non quality

It's a nice vehicle until the gremlins show up.The lift gate battery drain finally got me. The dealership has done the best they can but it takes forever to right parts from Jeep. The dealership has had the GCL for a month now. It's aggravating as xxxx to make monthly payments and no use of vehicle. If they can't fix it thinking of selling it back to dealership. This will be my first and last Jeep.i have owned numerous vehicles from GM and never had these kind of problems.

Jeep Grand Cherokee - The worst nightmare

I bought a brand new 2023 Grand Cherokee L in October 2023. Two weeks after I bought it, it started having multiple electrical issues such as AC not working, center console shutting down, door locks not working, windows not rolling up or down, etc. Buying this vehicle has been an absolute nightmare, and the customer service given by Jeep is nonexistent. They are aware they sold me a defective vehicle that is having some serious issues, some of them, safety hazard, and they don't care. Please stay away from Jeep.

Love it!

Love it! Upgraded from Cherokee Limited and could not be happier. Ride, interior space and mileage all are great. I am short and spouse is tall and it is comfortable for both of us!

Buy it!

Buy it

Could not be happier. Love the 5.7 engine (MPG is not a major concert to me.)I loved the 2018 Grand Cherokee Summit, and this car is even better. It does seem larger than the additional 12" of the previous model.

Best 3 row SUV

I bought the 2023 Grand Cherokee Limited L recently and I have to tell it's impressive. I gambled with all the negative reviews since it's launch. I test drove 2023 Infiniti QX60 sensory and the new 2023 Honda pilot elite and I'm glad I chose Jeep GC L, the pickup is superb not sure above the negative reviews on engine not being good. All the vehicles I drove had almost same V6 engines and GC stands out. The new interior is very convenient and exterior is refreshing, yes I agree that navigation through the infotainment might be tricky but you can get used to it. I had an opportunity to buy the same back in early 2022 but with all the issues with infotainment I decided to go with 2022 Ram 1500 Longhorn Limited turbo diesel, boy couldn't be happier. Hopefully my vehicle does well and not have all the issues others had.
