The Good
The 2000 SLK-Class offers a blend of style and substance. Its retractable hardtop provides coupe-like security and convertible thrills, appealing to emotional buyers. The SLK230's supercharged engine offers decent performance. While not the most reliable, Mercedes build quality provides a level of comfort and prestige. It can be considered a reasonable value as a used luxury roadster.
The Bad
Common weaknesses include issues with the retractable hardtop mechanism, which can be complex and expensive to repair. Electrical problems, particularly with sensors and wiring, are also frequently reported. The supercharger in the SLK230 can require maintenance or replacement over time. Rust, especially in areas prone to moisture, should be checked. Ensure regular maintenance has been performed.

Only owned for a country of daysI like the style, handling and performance of this vehicle. It is very satisfying to drive with the handling, followed by its appearance. The overall quality of the vehicle is obvious from the minute you get into it.

2nd most reliable car I’ve owned after Prius.2000 slk 230 .Black on black .Still turns heads.Super reliable never had issue other than a water leak inside(need drains cleaned).Purchased garage kept car in 2017 with 70,099 miles. It’s now 5/2021 and 84,000 miles.I highly recommend this super reliable fun car.

Most reliable car I have owned. This roadster has been my daily driver for 4 years now going strong. I bought it pre-owned at 80,000 miles. I am now at 170,000 miles. I haven’t had any problems over 4 years, just your regular oil changes, spark plugs & coils replacement, and tire changes. I am extremely proud and shocked at how this car is still driving smoothly and never gives me any problems. Solid car 10/10

Best car I have ownedThis car is the best car I have owned. Everything about this car says “sexy little sports carâ€, a real head turner. Convertible roof is easy to operate. Gas mileage is exceptional (28 mpg) for a super-charged car.

Most reliable car I’ve ownedThis is my daily driver since I bought it at 60K miles. Never had problems except for the hard top issue which could be easily fixed.

Super reliable, sporty hardtop convertible!I really love owning and driving this car! I use it as my daily driver, and it is awesome with the top down on sunny days. The hardtop convertible and heated seats allow it to be a great car for all seasons too! I would highly recommend this car to friends. Also, the 2.3L supercharged motor is one of the most reliable motors that Mercedes has ever made.

Such a fun, classic carI've owned this car for 2 years. I love the hard top convertible. It's a comfy, fun car to drive. To me it's a classic!

small charismatic carThis car has a lot of charm, its very appealing at first sight, and tends to grow on people from there. Unlike the higher priced cars in the SL and SLK classes, this car is more approachable and affordable, and still turns some heads [but admittingly, not nearly as many as the 06-07 versions]. The only thing i dont like about the exterior, are the lights. I like the more traditional Mercedes lights, this car seems to have a more watered down version of it, it isnt any better then you see on cars worth half its price. The retrachtable hard-top is very impressive, and suprisingly functional. Doesnt stall with continued use, and performs everytime. But on my car [not sure if this is common or not], it started to leak oil while placing itself inthe hood, but that can easily be fixed with a short visit to a repair shop if it does ever occur. The inside is nice&simple, yet very comfortable. For such a small car, it really has a lot of interior space to make up for its lacking back seats. i'd recommend it to anyone, its a very lovable car, and the kind you end up getting attached to over time.
