What Problems Does the 2014 Buick Regal Have?
Frequently reported problems for the 2014 Buick Regal can include issues with the timing chain, particularly in earlier models of the generation (though some issues persist in 2014). Symptoms might include a rattling noise upon startup. Some owners have also reported problems with the turbocharger, such as premature failure or oil leaks. Check engine lights are a common warning sign for various issues. Another area of concern is the infotainment system, which can experience glitches or become unresponsive. Recalls have been issued for various issues over the years, so it's essential to check the vehicle's VIN with the NHTSA database to ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed.
Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the complexity of the turbocharged engine and its associated components. Proper maintenance, including regular oil changes, is crucial for mitigating potential problems. Some owners have also noted issues with the automatic transmission, such as rough shifting or hesitation. Before purchasing a used 2014 Regal, a thorough inspection by a qualified mechanic is highly recommended.

How long will the 2014 Buick Regal last?
With proper maintenance, a 2014 Buick Regal can realistically reach 150,000 to 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report reaching 10 years of service. Regular oil changes (every 5,000-7,500 miles), timely fluid replacements, and addressing minor issues promptly are essential for longevity. Weaknesses over time tend to be related to the turbocharger (if equipped), potential timing chain wear, and general wear and tear on suspension components. Neglecting maintenance can significantly shorten its lifespan. Rust can become a factor in colder climates where road salt is used.
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
The 2014 Buick Regal features a decent array of technology for its time. Standard features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone climate control, and OnStar. Higher trims offer features like a navigation system, rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and adaptive cruise control.
Entertainment options include a CD player, satellite radio, and USB input. The available premium audio system provides enhanced sound quality. Driver-assistance features vary by trim level, with the Premium trims offering more advanced safety technologies.
Safety features include standard antilock brakes, stability control, and a full complement of airbags. The 2014 Buick Regal performed well in crash tests. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) gave it a "Top Safety Pick" rating. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) awarded it a 5-star overall safety rating. However, specific ratings may vary by model year and body style, so it's always recommended to verify the crash test results for the exact vehicle you are considering.

2014 Buick Regal Prices and Market Value
When new, the 2014 Buick Regal ranged from approximately $30,000 to $40,000 depending on the trim and options. Currently, used market prices can vary widely based on condition, mileage, and location, but expect to see prices ranging from $8,000 to $15,000. Depreciation is significant, but typical for a mid-size sedan. Factors affecting resale value include the vehicle's condition, mileage, accident history, and whether it has desirable features like the turbocharged engine or advanced safety systems. Models with clean titles and well-documented maintenance histories command higher prices.
2014 Buick Regal Cost of Ownership
Insurance costs for the 2014 Buick Regal are generally moderate, aligning with other mid-size sedans. Fuel costs depend on the engine; the 2.4L is more economical than the turbo. Maintenance costs are average, but repairs can be pricier, especially for turbo-related issues. Long-term ownership costs can be moderate if the vehicle is well-maintained; however, neglecting maintenance or encountering major repairs could make it more costly to own. Budgeting for potential turbo or timing chain repairs is advisable.
