The Jaguar F-PACE, introduced in 2016 as Jaguar's first SUV, entered its second generation in 2021 with significant updates. This luxury compact SUV offers a blend of British elegance and sporty performance. Key trims include the base F-PACE, S, SE, R-Dynamic S, and the high-performance SVR. The pricing ranges from approximately $50,000 to over $85,000 for the SVR. Its combination of distinctive styling, engaging driving dynamics, and a luxurious interior make it a popular choice.
The Good

The 2021 Jaguar F-PACE offers strong performance with powerful engine options appealing to enthusiasts. Its redesigned interior provides enhanced comfort and luxury. The exterior design is undeniably stylish, appealing to emotional buyers. For practical buyers, the F-PACE offers decent cargo space, available all-wheel drive, and a range of safety features. Reliability, however, has been a mixed bag.

The Bad

Potential buyers should be aware of the 2021 Jaguar F-PACE's infotainment system, which, while improved, can still be laggy and unintuitive. Reliability can be a concern, with some owners reporting electrical and mechanical issues. Fuel economy, particularly with the more powerful engines, is not a strong point. Resale value also tends to depreciate faster than some competitors.

What Problems Does the 2021 Jaguar F-PACE Have?

The 2021 Jaguar F-PACE, while significantly updated, still experiences some frequently reported problems and reliability concerns. Common issues include glitches with the Pivi Pro infotainment system, such as slow response times, freezing, and connectivity problems. Electrical issues, including sensor malfunctions and battery drain, have also been reported. Some owners have experienced problems with the adaptive cruise control and other driver-assistance features.

Long-term reliability is a general concern for Jaguars, and the F-PACE is no exception. Issues with the cooling system, including water pump failures, have been noted. Suspension components, particularly the air suspension in some models, can also be prone to problems over time. While the 2021 model year saw improvements, it's still crucial to have a thorough inspection before purchasing a used F-PACE, and to maintain it meticulously to mitigate potential issues. Recalls can be checked via the NHTSA website using the VIN of the specific vehicle. Some early F-PACE models (pre-2021) had recalls related to fuel leaks and brake system issues, so verifying recall status is paramount.

How long will the 2021 Jaguar F-PACE last?

With proper maintenance, a 2021 Jaguar F-PACE can reasonably provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-12 years of service. However, achieving this longevity depends heavily on consistent and timely maintenance. Weaknesses over time often manifest in the electrical system, with sensors and wiring becoming problematic. The air suspension (if equipped) is also a potential long-term maintenance expense. Regular fluid changes (engine oil, transmission, coolant) and proactive replacement of wear items like brakes and tires are critical for maximizing the vehicle's lifespan. Neglecting maintenance can significantly shorten its service life.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2021 Jaguar F-PACE features a significant upgrade in its technology. The centerpiece is the 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system, which offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard features include a Meridian sound system, a digital instrument cluster, and over-the-air software updates. Driver-assistance features are plentiful, including standard lane-keeping assist, emergency braking, a driver condition monitor, and a rear-view camera. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and park assist.

In terms of safety, the F-PACE includes multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control. Optional safety features enhance protection further. Crash-test ratings from organizations like the NHTSA and IIHS should be consulted for specific scores, though availability can vary based on the model year and configuration. Generally, the F-PACE aims for high safety standards with its advanced technology and robust construction. The updated tech suite addresses previous criticisms and makes the F-PACE more competitive in its class. A head-up display is also available as an option, projecting key information onto the windshield.

2021 Jaguar F-PACE Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2021 Jaguar F-PACE had a starting price around $50,000, with the SVR model exceeding $85,000. Current used market prices vary depending on mileage, condition, and trim level. Expect to find base models in the $35,000-$45,000 range, while SVR models can still command prices above $60,000. Depreciation is a factor; luxury vehicles like the F-PACE tend to depreciate faster than mainstream brands. Factors affecting resale value include the vehicle's condition, mileage, service history, and the desirability of specific options (like the SVR trim). Models with lower mileage and a clean history fetch higher prices.

2021 Jaguar F-PACE Cost of Ownership

The 2021 Jaguar F-PACE is generally considered a costly vehicle to own long-term. Insurance premiums are typically higher than average due to its luxury status and performance capabilities. Fuel costs, particularly with the more powerful engines, can be significant. Maintenance and repair costs are also above average, as Jaguar parts and service tend to be more expensive. Regular maintenance is crucial to avoid costly repairs. Overall, potential buyers should factor in these higher ownership costs when considering an F-PACE.

Insurance for a 2021 Jaguar F-PACE is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2021 Jaguar F-PACE Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2021 Jaguar F-PACE competes in the luxury compact SUV segment against rivals like the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Porsche Macan, and Volvo XC60. In terms of performance, the F-PACE, especially in SVR trim, offers impressive power and engaging driving dynamics, comparable to the Macan and X3 M. Feature-wise, it holds its own with a modern infotainment system and a range of driver-assistance technologies, similar to the GLC and XC60.

However, the F-PACE often lags behind in reliability compared to the Lexus NX and Acura RDX. The Audi Q5 and BMW X3 also tend to have slightly better reliability ratings. Price-wise, the F-PACE is competitive, but depreciation can be a concern.

Alternatives to consider include the BMW X3 for its balanced performance and reliability, the Porsche Macan for its superior handling and sportiness (albeit at a higher price), and the Volvo XC60 for its comfort, safety, and Scandinavian design. The Acura RDX is a more reliable and value-oriented alternative, although it may not offer the same level of performance or prestige.

Final Verdict: Is the 2021 Jaguar F-PACE a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2021 Jaguar F-PACE is ideal for buyers who prioritize stylish design, engaging performance, and a luxurious interior. It's worth buying if you appreciate the Jaguar brand and are willing to accept potential reliability concerns. Consider buying used to mitigate depreciation costs, but ensure a thorough inspection and a comprehensive warranty. The R-Dynamic S trim offers a good balance of performance and features. If reliability is a top priority, consider alternatives like the Acura RDX or Lexus NX. If performance trumps all, the SVR is an exhilarating but expensive option. Overall, the F-PACE offers a unique blend of British charm and sporty driving, but careful consideration and research are essential.

I've had the MY21 for just over 3 years, sitting at

I've had the MY21 for just over 3 years, sitting at 54,000miles currently. Not a single issue to report on this car, actually driven VW and Merc before this and it's the most reliable of all my cars so far. Look after it, service it and use good quality fuel and it will keep you smiling for many years. Interior quality far exceeds that of an Audi Q5, Merc GLC and BMW X3. It's a great drive with a luxury yet sporty feel. It doesn't benefit from air suspension but it's a sports SUV and that's why. It does have adaptive dynamics which make it a comfortable and refined drive, dynamic mode give it a really stiff sport feel.
