The Good
The 2013 Mazda CX-5 offers a surprisingly sporty driving experience for an SUV, appealing to emotional buyers who enjoy a fun ride. Practically, it boasts excellent fuel efficiency and predicted reliability, making it a sensible choice. The comfortable interior and stylish design further enhance its appeal, making it a great overall value.
The Bad
The 2013 Mazda CX-5's base engine can feel underpowered, especially when fully loaded or driving uphill. The infotainment system is dated compared to newer models. How Does the 2013 Mazda CX-5 Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Price-wise, the CX-5 is competitive. The Honda CR-V offers more cargo space and a slightly smoother ride, making it a good alternative for those prioritizing practicality. The Toyota RAV4 is another reliable choice, but its driving dynamics are less engaging than the CX-5's. The Ford Escape, especially with the EcoBoost engines, provides stronger acceleration but may not be as reliable in the long run. For buyers prioritizing a sporty driving experience and good fuel economy, the CX-5 remains a compelling choice. For pure practicality and cargo space, the CR-V or RAV4 might be better options.

Problem with ignition. For the most part I really like my 2013 Mazda. When I stop the car and try to turn off the ignition it doesn’t turn off the engine. In order to turn off the engine and electrical, I have to restart the cart and pump the gear shifter several times and then turn off the ignition. My wife used to drive a Mazda MPV had the same issue.

Very Great SUV!I owned this car for several years and got a discount on it after I turned in a trade-in for it. I can say for the four years I owned it never gave me any issues. I kept up with the oil changes and rotated tires twice in the four years and it ran great. I had tan fabric interior but was able to find the perfect faux leather seat covers for it and the interior stayed pristine and new. This SUV drove us around all over the northeast and we loved it for our small family. Definitely recommend it!

Paid too much and didnt get the quality I expected2013 1st year " sport " 2wd didnt get the mileage or performance They Advertised. Interior falling apart @ 80k. Not enough pwr, TPMS nightmare. Seats below avg. V4 Isn't enough. NOT HOLDING VALUE. the newer models are WAY better. NOT FAIR TO MAKE A 1ST YR BUYER SUFFER.

Ignition coil went bad around 78,000 miles. After I took for tune-up at Madza dealer maintenance facility in Dec. 2019, I experienced a power loss and irregular power while driving on highway and side road. I barely made it home. Next day I towed to the dealer and Ignition coils were bad and replaced. $750. with labor. I did not have this issue with Honda CRV (which I drove and sold at 188,000 miles.

I love my car since I bought it in 2013Even though I love my car; there is only one thing that I do no like about is that it is hard to see diagonally. This is because the corners of the car form like a protection in case your car turns over. That is basically the one thing I do not like about my car, but I still love it!

Incredible on worst roads. Most in control car i have ever owned. Goes thru snow on black ice and the mud on Canada's dirt back roads. I got stuck inmy 4x4 p/u and was concerned about getting thru with this car. It went right thru a 100' mud hole that stops 4x4's daily. Totally blew my mind as i was redyto call my neighbor to bring out his big 8x8 TRACTOR. I feel very safe and relaxed in this car. I just need a bigger vehicle. But i will miss the fuel economy that the CX-5 GETS.

Don't do itCar now needs almost 2000.00 worth of repairs and I barely drive it. I bought it with 32,000 miles and it now has 52,000 after three years.
