The Good
The 2004 C-Class offers a comfortable ride and elegant design, appealing to those seeking a premium experience. Performance ranges from adequate to exhilarating, particularly in AMG models. It provides a sense of prestige and sophistication, satisfying emotional desires, while its relative affordability in the used market and decent fuel economy (depending on engine) appeal to practical buyers.
The Bad
The 2004 C-Class is known for potential issues with its electrical systems, including the instrument cluster and keyless entry. Suspension components, such as control arm bushings, can wear out. Some owners have also reported problems with the climate control system and engine oil leaks. Regular maintenance is crucial to mitigate these risks.

What Problems Does the 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Have?
How long will the 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features were relatively limited compared to modern cars, but included cruise control and anti-lock brakes (ABS). Electronic Stability Program (ESP) was also standard, enhancing safety and handling.
Safety features included front and side airbags, as well as curtain airbags for head protection. The car also featured seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters.
Optional features included a Tele-Aid emergency calling system. Crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) generally awarded the 2004 C-Class good marks for frontal offset and side impact protection. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also gave it high ratings in frontal and side crash tests. While these ratings were good for its time, modern vehicles generally offer superior levels of crash protection due to advancements in safety technology and vehicle design. The built-in navigation system, if equipped, would be considered rudimentary by today's standards. The audio system lacked modern connectivity options like Bluetooth audio streaming.

How Does the 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Compare to Other Sedan?
Feature-wise, the C-Class provided a similar level of luxury and available options as its German rivals. However, the Lexus IS300 arguably offered better value for money with a competitive feature set.
Reliability is where the C-Class often falls short compared to the Lexus IS300, which is known for its strong reliability. The BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 also have their own common issues but are often considered slightly more reliable than the C-Class.
Price-wise in the used market, the 2004 C-Class is often comparable to its rivals. If reliability is a top priority, the Lexus IS300 is a better alternative. If driving dynamics are paramount, the BMW 3 Series might be a better choice. The Audi A4 offers a blend of luxury and performance. Given the age and potential for expensive repairs, a thorough inspection is crucial regardless of the chosen vehicle.

Only 107k milesOne of the best cars I’ve ever owned. This was my wife’s car and we just got her a newer model. I currently own 3 of these they are great cars. I have a gold one and my daughter has a black one.

Beautiful machineOne of the best car that I never owned was a C220 CDI. Fabulous car and gives value for money. Has excellent fuel consumption and is very quiet considering that it was a diesel. Pheew. I enjoyed the ride.
Classy Ride on August 6, 2019
Most reliable car!The ride is smooth and it handles almost like new. It's just the right size, has very comfortable seats and is loaded with technology! On my first 500+ mile trip, I averaged 28.8 mpg. If you're looking for a good deal and ride, put this one on your short list to test drive.

Classy, reliable, great driving wagonLoads of features on this car for its age; comfortable, roomy and reliable. The wagon offers an especially smooth ride due to its extra suspension for loads. Great gas mileage, and a sleek look. They are hard to find, and this size is no longer imported from Germany.

MERCEDES WAGON : WONDERFUL TO DRIVE.This car has been my favorite for 10 years; plenty of leg room for driver and passengers, and cargo too. The most reliable car I have ever owned!

Very quiet, comfortable country cruiserEach time I get behind the wheel of my Benz I delight in the way it drives. It's smooth and responsive, with oodles of poke. It's extremely sure footed, even on rough roads, providing a certain feel that only seems evident with the Mercedes. Power is smooth and the car changes both up and down the box, readily without complaint even when its' pushed.

Priced to sellHas some miles on it but it is a reliable car always maintained, heater and air work great, love the touch screen stereo bluetooth, gps, dvd, back up cam, sunroof. Heated seats and a clean title tags until November 2019 all this at a great price
