What Problems Does the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Have?
While specific recalls for the 2012 model may vary depending on the region and timeframe, it's crucial to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any outstanding recalls related to safety or emissions. Long-term reliability concerns primarily revolve around the aforementioned issues, as well as the general upkeep required for a luxury vehicle with advanced technology. These cars can be sensitive to maintenance neglect, leading to escalating repair costs. Regular servicing, using quality parts, and addressing problems promptly are essential to maintaining long-term reliability. Issues with the airmatic suspension are the most common and costly concern on this vehicle.
How long will the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features include PRE-SAFE, which can anticipate and prepare for a collision by tightening seatbelts and closing windows. The 2012 CLS-Class also featured attention assist which monitored the driver's behavior and suggested taking a break if fatigue was detected.
Crash test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA should be consulted for specific scores, but the CLS-Class generally performed well in crash tests, reflecting Mercedes-Benz's commitment to safety. Due to the age of the vehicle, those ratings may not directly translate to modern safety standards.

How Does the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?
Reliability-wise, the CLS-Class is generally considered less reliable than the Audi A7 or BMW 5 Series. Used prices are often similar, so it depends on your priorities. The Porsche Panamera, while offering superior performance, typically commands a higher price on the used market.
Alternatives: If reliability is a primary concern, the Audi A7 might be a better choice. If practicality is key, the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is worth considering. For ultimate performance, the Porsche Panamera is a strong contender, but be prepared for higher running costs.

Amazing fit, finish, and fast.Without a doubt the most fun luxury car I've owned. Everyone has warned me about how much it costs to fix. I'd like to confirm or dismiss their predictions, but nothing has broken. Other than expensive oil changes and different sized tires that can't be rotated, I haven't done anything but put gas in it.

1st day owning, car was in the shot for 4-6k repaiLove the look of the car. Unfortunately I was sold a bad car. The seller hid the fact that timing chain was very bad. Had car "warm" for each and every test drive. Did not know issue until they held the car for several days after purchase then it was too late.

Superb German performance and engineeringI have owned many high end luxury vehicles. This is by far one of the best bang for the buck vehicles out there! Amazing 550+ hp beats out 98% of the sports cars. Better looks then any domestic vehicle made.resale value is great and the style and comfort only Mercedes can offer.

I Love this Graceful BeastI bought this car (a 2012 CLS550 4 Matic Launch Edition) used in October 2016 (which means I've owned it for 10 months). I am equally impressed by its looks and performance. I was blown away by how quick it was when I drove it off the lot -- then I realized that I was only in standard driving mode and have to test it again in sport mode. Both driving modes blew me away!! The car is definitely a head-turner. So far, nearly every fancy restaurant my wife and I go to, the valet guys park my car right in the front (makes me feel like a king). So far, I've had an oil change, tune up, and the center entertainment control knob replaced (I'm at about 73k miles). Service can be a bit pricey, but I haven't had any major issues (fingers crossed).

High qualityGreat vehicle, I currently own an E class and have always thought this car is amazing but the CLS is phenomenal, handling and speed is really a mouth dropper and luxury is tremendous for this everyday car.
