What Problems Does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class can vary. Some common issues involve the air suspension system, where components like the air struts or compressor may fail, leading to ride height problems. This is a fairly common issue across many Mercedes-Benz models with air suspension.

Another area of concern can be the electrical system. Some owners have reported glitches with the infotainment system (COMAND), navigation, or other electronic features. Ensuring all software updates are applied is crucial.

While not a widespread issue, oil leaks are also something to watch for, particularly in higher-mileage examples. Check for any signs of oil leaks around the engine.

Recalls, if any, for the 2016 model year should be checked on the NHTSA website (www.nhtsa.gov) using the VIN. Recalls can cover a range of safety-related issues.

Long-term reliability concerns generally revolve around the cost of maintaining a luxury vehicle with complex systems. Components like the turbochargers (especially in the CLS400 and AMG models) and the direct injection system can require maintenance or repairs over time. Regular servicing and preventative maintenance are essential for minimizing potential problems and ensuring long-term reliability.

How long will the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class last?

With proper maintenance, a 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class can easily provide 150,000-200,000 miles or 10-15 years of service. However, longevity heavily depends on consistent maintenance. Regular oil changes, fluid checks, and addressing issues promptly are crucial. Long-term durability is generally good, but potential weaknesses include the air suspension system and electrical components, which may require repairs as the car ages. Preventative maintenance, such as replacing worn suspension parts and keeping the electrical system in good condition, can extend the car's lifespan.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class boasts a comprehensive suite of technology and safety features.

Built-in Tech & Entertainment: The COMAND infotainment system with an 8-inch display is standard, offering navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and a premium audio system. Optional upgrades included a Bang & Olufsen sound system for audiophiles.

Driver-Assistance: Standard driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and collision prevention assist. Optional features included adaptive cruise control (Distronic Plus), a surround-view camera system, and parking assist. These technologies enhance safety and convenience, particularly on long drives.

Safety Features: Standard safety features include multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and traction control. The CLS-Class is built with a robust safety structure to protect occupants in the event of a collision.

Crash-Test Ratings: While official IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings specifically for the 2016 CLS-Class might be limited, the CLS-Class generally performs well in safety tests, inheriting safety technology and design from other Mercedes-Benz models. It's important to consult the official IIHS and NHTSA websites for the most up-to-date safety information.

2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class ranged from approximately $66,000 for the CLS400 to over $100,000 for the AMG CLS63 S. As of today, used market prices vary widely based on mileage, condition, and trim level. Expect to find CLS400 models in the $20,000 - $35,000 range, while CLS550 and AMG models command higher prices. Depreciation is typical for luxury vehicles. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, service history, and the presence of desirable options. Lower mileage, a clean title, and a well-documented maintenance record will significantly boost resale value.

2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Cost of Ownership

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is a costly vehicle to own. Insurance premiums are higher than average due to its luxury status and performance capabilities. Fuel costs can be significant, especially with the V8 engines. Maintenance and repair costs are also higher than average, as specialized parts and labor are often required. Long-term ownership requires budgeting for potential repairs to the air suspension, electronics, and other luxury features. It's not an economical choice, but rather a premium ownership experience with corresponding expenses.

The engine seems good , the technology is LACKING.

I may purchase another MERCEDES in the near future, BUT I would be hesitant to buy this model MERCEDES. The technological features are INADEQUATE. Maybe this one just has some technological problems but not even the Contacts update in a timely manner

A great looking performer

This vehicle has all the goodies one could possibly ask for and the ride is solid, comfortable and has all the power one could ask for. It is considered a 4 door sports coupe and meets this designation completely.
