The Good
The 2016 GLC-Class offers a compelling blend of luxury and practicality. Performance is strong with responsive engines. Comfort is a highlight, with a smooth ride and upscale interior. The design exudes elegance. Fuel efficiency is competitive. For emotional buyers, the prestige of the Mercedes-Benz brand and the stylish design are appealing. Practical buyers appreciate the spacious interior, advanced safety features, and relatively good fuel economy.
The Bad
Some 2016 GLC-Class owners have reported issues with the COMAND infotainment system, including glitches and slow response times. Early model years might exhibit some electrical gremlins. The run-flat tires, while convenient, can provide a harsher ride and are more expensive to replace. The base engine, while adequate, might feel underpowered for some drivers, especially when fully loaded. Potential buyers should check the service history for any recurring problems.

What Problems Does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Have?
There have been recalls related to fuel leaks, specifically concerning the fuel filter flange potentially cracking and leading to leaks, which poses a fire risk. Owners should verify that any applicable recall work has been completed.
Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the potential for electrical problems. Sensors and control modules can sometimes fail, leading to diagnostic error codes and potentially affecting vehicle performance. The air suspension (if equipped) is also a potential source of trouble as the vehicle ages, as air struts can leak and require replacement.
While the engine and transmission are generally considered reliable, proper maintenance is crucial. Oil leaks can occur over time, so regular inspections are recommended. The run-flat tires, standard on many models, are prone to damage from potholes and are more expensive to replace than conventional tires. Overall, while not overwhelmingly problematic, potential buyers should be aware of these potential issues and ensure a thorough inspection is performed before purchase.
How long will the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class last?
Weaknesses that emerge over time often include the aforementioned electrical gremlins, suspension component wear (especially with air suspension), and potential for oil leaks. Regular fluid changes (engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant) are critical for longevity. Preventative maintenance on the cooling system can also extend the life of the vehicle, as overheating can cause significant damage.
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features include Collision Prevention Assist Plus, which can automatically apply the brakes to prevent or mitigate a collision. Optional driver-assistance systems include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view camera system.
Safety features include multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control. Optional features, like the Driver Assistance Package, enhance safety further.
The 2016 GLC-Class received excellent crash-test ratings. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) awarded it a 5-star overall safety rating. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) named it a Top Safety Pick+, indicating strong performance in crash tests and the availability of advanced safety technologies.
Overall, the 2016 GLC-Class offers a comprehensive suite of technology and safety features, particularly when equipped with optional packages. The infotainment system, while sometimes criticized for its complexity, provides a wealth of functionality.

2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Prices and Market Value
The GLC-Class has depreciated significantly but retains some value due to the Mercedes-Benz brand prestige. Lower mileage examples with clean titles and comprehensive service records command higher resale values. The presence of desirable options packages (e.g., Premium Package, Driver Assistance Package) also positively impacts resale value. Higher mileage and any accidents on the vehicle's history report will negatively impact value.

How Does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Performance: The GLC offers a good balance of performance and comfort, comparable to the X3 and Q5. The AMG GLC43 provides a significant performance upgrade.
Features: The GLC boasts a wide array of features, often matching or exceeding competitors, especially with optional packages. The Acura RDX offers many standard features at a lower price point.
Reliability: Reliability is a mixed bag for the GLC. While generally reliable, it can be prone to electronic issues. The Lexus NX is typically regarded as more reliable. The Audi Q5 has historically had better reliability ratings, but it depends on the year.
Price: The GLC is typically priced competitively within its class, but optional features can quickly escalate the price. The Acura RDX offers better value for money.
Alternatives:
- BMW X3: Offers a sportier driving experience.
- Audi Q5: Known for its refined interior and comfortable ride.
- Lexus NX: Prioritizes reliability and fuel efficiency.
- Acura RDX: Provides excellent value with a generous list of standard features.
If reliability is a top priority, the Lexus NX or Acura RDX might be better choices. If a sportier driving experience is desired, the BMW X3 is worth considering. For a blend of luxury and performance, the GLC remains a strong contender.

Most advanced car I have ever owned. This car is great and handles well, it's summer now I know I am good for the summer, can't wait to see how it handles in the winter.

It IS the most reliable vehicle we have owned...We traded in our GLK (2011) for the replacement GLC 300...We loved the GLK, but it was approaching 100,000 miles and decided to trade it in for the new GLC 300. We couldn't be happier. It exceeded our expectations. Room, handling and response are all excellent. Plenty of space for all our stuff and the gas mileage is outstanding.

No room in the backseatsI purchased the 2016 glc and returned it 3 months later. The back seat has no leg room and interior feels to small also with only 53k miles check engine light came on benz donβt make cars like the use too this is my third and last suv with them Iβm going to Lexus

EXCELLENT SUVIt was WAY bigger then I expected plenty of leg room,3rd rows seating plus the panoramic roof..LUV IT!! This exceeded my expectations and when driving at night seems like it comes alive with all the extra lighting. So AWESOME!!!

Great buy! Used but not abused...Bought after test driving Audi Q5 and others in the same field. Let the first owner get soaked on the initial depreciation. Iβm expecting 5-6 years out of my 2016 year model. Probably many more than that!

Best CPO in 20 YearsMy wife's 2017 GLC 4 Matic had 19000 miles on it when we bought it in 2018. The Certified Pre-Owned Warranty covers the remaining TIME on the original warranty but with UNLIMITED MILES. Since we do 30K miles a year, not only did we save substantially on the CPO price but we got bumper-to-bumper coverage over 90K--based on our driving. The car rides high like bigger SUV's but averages close to 27 mpg overall with 9 speeds and a very zippy 241 HP. We have had no problems with this vehicle in 9 months of use including a 5000 round trip to New England. The 4 Matic works smoothly in snow and on ice. The interior is classy looking and the Navigation and huge screen interface can be a bit tricky to figure out. We recommend this vehicle to SUV drivers and we especially recommend the CPO purchase procedure for savings with extended protection if you drive a lot.

Should have returned it within the week! From the time I purchased the car the brakes have squealed like a pig being tortured when they are cold. Brought it back and was told that they were aware of the situation and were waiting on a recall or fix. Okay, I can be patient. Several months later, nothing resolved. Talk to a different mechanic and he directs me to a fix that Mercedes is aware of! Take the vehicle back to Mercedes only to be told that since it's a wear item they don't cover it. Had I been told up front that they were not going to correct their problem I would not have kept the car. Oh well, lesson learned...back to Lexus!
