Cathleen V | March 31, 2025
The 2015 Toyota Camry is a mid-size sedan, part of the Camry's long and successful run as a reliable and popular family car. Known for its dependability and practicality, the 2015 Camry offered a comfortable ride and a spacious interior. Key trims included the LE, SE, XLE, and XSE. Pricing ranged approximately from $23,000 to $31,000 when new. Its reputation for reliability and value made it a top choice for practical car buyers.
The Good

The 2015 Camry offers advantages like Toyota's legendary reliability, ensuring peace of mind. Its comfortable ride and spacious interior appeal to practical buyers. Fuel efficiency is a strong point. The redesigned exterior offered a slightly more stylish design than previous generations, appealing to those seeking a bit of flair without sacrificing practicality. It delivers excellent value for the money.

The Bad

While reliable, the 2015 Camry's handling can feel somewhat uninspired compared to sportier rivals. The base engine might feel underpowered for some drivers. The infotainment system can seem dated and less intuitive than competitors. Check for proper maintenance records, especially regarding oil changes, as some engines have exhibited oil consumption issues. Some consumers also reported issues with the Entune system.

What Problems Does the 2015 Toyota Camry Have?

The 2015 Toyota Camry is generally considered a reliable vehicle, but some common issues have been reported. Some owners have experienced excessive oil consumption, particularly with the 2.5L engine. This issue often manifests at higher mileage and can lead to engine damage if not monitored and addressed. It's crucial to check the oil level regularly and address any leaks promptly.

Another reported issue revolves around the Entune infotainment system. Some users have found it to be slow, buggy, and difficult to use. Connectivity issues with Bluetooth and smartphone integration are also common complaints.

Regarding recalls, it's essential to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any open recalls affecting the specific VIN. Recalls can address issues related to safety concerns, and repairs are typically performed free of charge by Toyota dealerships. Some model years within the Camry generation experienced recalls related to fuel delivery systems or other safety components, so it's crucial to verify the recall status.

Long-term reliability is generally good, but potential buyers should pay attention to the car's maintenance history and address any signs of oil consumption or infotainment system malfunctions.

How long will the 2015 Toyota Camry last?

With proper maintenance, a 2015 Toyota Camry can easily reach 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report exceeding this mileage with regular servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and timely repairs. Years of service can easily extend beyond 10-15 years with diligent care. The engine and transmission are generally durable, but potential weaknesses include the aforementioned oil consumption issue in some 2.5L engines and potential wear and tear on suspension components over time. Rust can also be a concern in regions with harsh winter conditions and road salt use.

Best car I've ever owned very reliable purchased from dealership in 2021 with 68000 miles has 127000 on it now only did fluid changes tire and front brake pads. Best car out there in my opinion.

I bought a used 2015 Camry SE i4 in September 2021 with 106k miles on it. As of April 2022, this is the best car ive ever owned. Now with 121k miles on the odometer. The only things ive done to it, is a few oil changes, a transmission fluid "drain-and-fill", and an installment of new tires. Very reliable in all conditions without sacrificing comfort. Looking for to putting 300k + on this car. Trademark Toyota reliability with the 2.5l 4cyl engine with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

This is the most comfortable and reliable that I have ever owned. Plenty of room and excellent gas mileage. Service at dealership is always excellent
Negative Owner Reviews

Absolutely horrible experience. Jerked me around for 6 days. I offered a deposit and they still sold the car out from under me. Buys beware cuz they suck.....

I have owned a 2015 Camry SE for 2.5 years. It had 22K miles on it when we bought it in late 2016. Was really impressed with the exterior design and the interior appointments. Really liked the black interior with the red stitching. Seems to be a solidly built car and have had no issues mechanically. Currently have 52K miles on it. On the flip side, the suspension is very stiff and rides poorly. Originally came with Bridgestone tires that were terrible. Very noisy, road poorly, and handled poorly. Finally replaced them with a quality tire which greatly improved all of those aspects. Still has alot more road noise than I would expect. Fuel mileage on this car was a major disappointment. I had rented a Nissan Altima a couple times from Enterprise and managed to get 37-39 mpg on the highway. Didn't purchase the Nissan due to some of the reports on the CV transmission having some issues. Hoped the Camry would be somewhat similar to the Nissan in fuel mileage. Boy were we surprised and disappointed. Our Camry only gets 26-28 mpg on interstate driving & 32+/- if you keep the speed below 65 mph. I've owned two Lincoln Town Cars that would get 26-30 mpg out on the highway. I have been a Ford customer for 40 years, but I had several friends that just loved their Toyota's so we decided to try one. At this point I am sadly disappointed in most aspects of the car and probably wouldn't consider buying another!

Its a Toyota. Its way overpriced if you plan on trading it every few years. Low power, cheap plastic interior, and very few safety features. The Mazda 6 or Honda Accord is a MUCH better value and MUCH nicer.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2015 Toyota Camry comes standard with a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. Higher trims offer a larger 7-inch touchscreen, navigation, and the Entune App Suite, which provides access to smartphone apps.

Driver-assistance features were relatively limited compared to modern vehicles. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert were available as optional features on higher trims. Adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning were not available on the 2015 model.

Safety features include antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a suite of airbags. The 2015 Camry received excellent crash-test ratings from both the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). It earned a 5-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS (when equipped with optional front crash prevention). The availability of features like blind spot monitoring on upper trims added to the overall safety package, enhancing driver awareness and potentially preventing accidents. However, the absence of more advanced driver-assistance systems, now common in newer cars, should be considered.

How Does the 2015 Toyota Camry Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2015 Toyota Camry competes with other mid-size sedans like the Honda Accord, Ford Fusion, Mazda 6, and Nissan Altima. In terms of reliability, the Camry and Accord are often considered top contenders. The Mazda 6 offers a sportier driving experience, while the Ford Fusion boasts more stylish design options. The Nissan Altima provides a comfortable ride and good fuel economy.

Compared to the Camry, the Accord typically offers a slightly more engaging driving experience. The Mazda 6 provides superior handling. The Fusion's interior design and available features can be more appealing to some buyers. However, the Camry often wins out in terms of long-term reliability and resale value.

Alternatives to the Camry include the Honda Accord for its balanced performance and reliability, the Mazda 6 for its sporty handling, and the Subaru Legacy for its standard all-wheel drive. If reliability is the top priority, the Camry remains a strong choice. If driving enjoyment is more important, the Mazda 6 might be a better fit. For those seeking all-weather capability, the Subaru Legacy is worth considering. The Ford Fusion offers a compelling combination of style and features.

It's well-suited for families, commuters, and anyone prioritizing dependability and value. However, the base LE trim provides excellent value for those on a budget. Buyers should be aware of the potential for oil consumption in the 2.5L engine and thoroughly inspect the vehicle before purchasing. Overall, it’s a solid and dependable choice in the used car market.

We bought a 2015 Camry XLE new in 2015 and traded it off

We bought a 2015 Camry XLE new in 2015 and traded it off for pennies on June 2024. Despite meticulous dealer maintenance, the torque converter vibrated terribly and the engine burned a qt of oil every 500 miles. Toyota said this is “normal.” The seats were never good, such that we’d take my SUV on trips at 18 mpg, because the cost savings of the Camry weren’t worth the back pain. It was just a very mediocre car in every way and it should have lasted more than 125k miles.

The only thing you have to do is change the oil.

5 years of worry free driving! All you have to do is change the oil and it keeps on running. I had a similar car and I ended up putting 250K on the Camry.
