The Good
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers robust performance, especially in SRT and Trackhawk trims. It delivers a comfortable ride and a stylish design, appealing to both emotional and practical needs. Its off-road prowess and spacious interior make it a versatile choice, while its powerful engine options provide an exciting driving experience. Buyers appreciate its blend of luxury and capability.
The Bad
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee's fuel economy can be a drawback, especially with the larger engines. Some owners have reported issues with the Uconnect infotainment system. Reliability can be average, and repair costs might be higher compared to some competitors. The base Laredo trim can feel somewhat basic compared to higher trims. Be mindful of potential electrical glitches.

How Does the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Reliability can be a mixed bag for the Grand Cherokee compared to the more reliable 4Runner and Telluride. Pricing is competitive but can escalate quickly with higher trims.
Alternatives: The Toyota 4Runner is a strong choice if off-road capability is a priority, and the Kia Telluride offers excellent value and features for families. The Ford Explorer is a similar choice, but it lacks the premium offerings of the Grand Cherokee. It depends on what's most important to the buyer. If you need three rows, the Telluride would be a better option. If you are looking for off-roading the 4Runner is the better choice. However, if you want performance and a premium interior, the Grand Cherokee is a fine choice.

Final Verdict: Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?

Snow commuterI've been driving for 43 years now and have owned an array of different vehicles, however I've never been financially fortunate to purchase a luxury model - until now! I was looking for a mid size vehicle that would check many boxes for my snowy Michigan commutes, along with distant travel comfort to and from my cabin and some towing capacity. I have only had this for roughly 1500 miles and wow.. My first impression was luxury. So many base options included in a mid sized and mid priced SUV that pleasantly surprised me. Secondly was the ride quality. Both smooth and quiet and handling. I've read other reviews discussing power inadequacy, but not at all. Plenty of passing and get tup to speed power. Next was the snow. I have Michelin defender tires and wow - what have I been missing? The snow 4x4 duaratac features combined with these tires make this a beast in the snow, slush and rain. It definitely gives me a much more safety reassurance while driving in these conditions. I have not tried the towing yet and have not had any "reliable" issues to report, but we are very fortunate with our pick and one very capable snow commuter.

Make the Two Hands on Wheel feature stand a lone.I HATE is the warning 'Place Two Hands On Wheel' as it goes off even when I have both hands on the wheel - No matter where I place my hands on the wheel it goes off. Since it is connected to the Lane Departure feature in order to not have to hear a constant warning alarm for Two Hands on Wheel I have to turn off the Lane Departure feature (which I love).

My Jeep saved me!Bought my first Jeep Grand Cherokee in January of 2022. I was in a wreck where another vehicle hit me and threw me off the road into a ditch. I went airborne and came down hard. It was a miracle I did not flip. All of my driver-side airbags deployed (front and back) and I walked away with minor injuries. This vehicle kept me safe and I will have another one to replace the totaled Jeep from my wreck.

Buyer BewareThis vehicle has an issue known with "lunging" when the car is shifted into drive. Brake on to shift, take your foot off and it lunges forward. Had a "Totaled" accident with this vehicle as a rental. Lunged forward, took us by surprise, over a stone wall and stopped by a tree. Windshield shattered, Front end destroyed, The airbag did not inflate. Another known issue. Buyer beware, Do your research.

It's a Jeep what else can I say.It has all the features one needs to keep others at bay. It looks great and drives wonderful. Jeep could improve on its painting skills as it has factory flaws.
