The Good
The 2021 Nissan Kicks offers excellent fuel efficiency and a comfortable ride, appealing to practical buyers. Its distinctive styling and vibrant color options satisfy emotional desires for a stylish and affordable vehicle. It provides good value for its price, known reliability (though check for common issues), and surprising interior space for its subcompact size.
The Bad
The 2021 Nissan Kicks has a relatively weak engine, resulting in slow acceleration. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) can be noisy. All-wheel drive is not available. While generally reliable, check for potential CVT issues. Some may find the rear seats less comfortable for longer journeys. The lack of a powerful engine is a considerable drawback for some drivers.

What Problems Does the 2021 Nissan Kicks Have?
Other potential issues include minor electrical glitches related to the infotainment system and sensors. Some owners have also reported experiencing issues with the air conditioning system, though this is less common. There have been some recalls related to sensor malfunctions across Nissan's lineup, and checking if the specific VIN of the 2021 Kicks you're considering is affected is crucial.
Long-term reliability concerns generally focus on the CVT's durability. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes at recommended intervals, can help mitigate potential problems. Overall, the Kicks is considered relatively reliable, but potential buyers should be aware of these reported issues and proactively address them through inspections and preventative maintenance.
How long will the 2021 Nissan Kicks last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features include standard automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning across all trims. The SV and SR trims add adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, enhancing safety and convenience. These features help drivers avoid collisions and stay aware of their surroundings.
Safety features include standard airbags, anti-lock brakes, and stability control. The 2021 Nissan Kicks received good crash-test ratings from the IIHS, earning a "Top Safety Pick" award. NHTSA ratings are also generally positive, reflecting the vehicle's solid safety performance. These safety ratings further enhance the appeal of the Kicks as a safe and reliable choice for families and individuals alike.

2021 Nissan Kicks Prices and Market Value
The Kicks experiences moderate depreciation, retaining a reasonable portion of its value, partly due to its fuel efficiency and affordability. Factors affecting resale value include the vehicle's condition, mileage, service history, and location. Models with lower mileage and a clean maintenance record command higher prices. The Kicks' popularity among budget-conscious buyers also helps maintain its resale value.

How Does the 2021 Nissan Kicks Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Reliability is generally good, though the CVT is a potential concern, as mentioned before. The Honda HR-V boasts greater cargo capacity and available all-wheel drive, something the Kicks lacks. Price-wise, the Kicks is often one of the most affordable options in its class. If you prioritize driving dynamics, the Mazda CX-3 is a better choice. For overall practicality and a bit more space, consider the Honda HR-V or Kia Soul. However, if budget and fuel efficiency are paramount, the Nissan Kicks remains a strong contender. The Hyundai Venue offers similar value but with a smaller interior.

Final Verdict: Is the 2021 Nissan Kicks a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?
Buying used can offer excellent value, but thoroughly inspect the CVT for any potential issues. The SV or SR trims are recommended for their enhanced features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and advanced safety systems. Buying new can provide peace of mind with warranty coverage.

It's a great car, except for the fact it sometimes doesIt's a great car, except for the fact it sometimes does NOT have enough power. whenever I accelerate from 0, it may take up to a second or two to actually accelerate. in roads going upwards, not even full throttle will make it accelerate enough.

A wonderful Kicks in the pants!I bought my Kicks brand new off the dealership floor in September, 2021. I have driven over 30K miles since my purchase. I am very pleased with my purchase. The car is the perfect size for me. The gas mileage is wonderful. It is very comfortable. My family has taken several vacations in the car and it has always performed wonderfully. I have always owned Honda Accords and Toyota Camry's until I purchase my Kicks. I wanted a CUV, but not a large one. I am very pleased with my purchase. The only negative is the CVT. It is slow to "down shift" when needed and is sometimes very hesitant off the line. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and plan on keeping my Kicks for many years.

Major Malfunctions!Car is quick to malfunction. Sensors go out repetitively. Vet small interior. No back cup holders. Air bags deployed in my vehicle at a residential stop sign. Nissan does NOT stand behind this product. My car is a 2020, purchased it right off the truck still in plastic! Worst car and customer service I’ve ever experienced!

Held would very well in accident.I only had this car for a month and fell in love with it immediately. Hit another car in the rear while traveling the speed limit on a 75 mpr freeway. I am pleased to say I walked away from the accident with minor injuries. As I hit, my thoughts were that not only would I not walk away, but might not see another day. Car was totaled. I would have bought another but my local dealer didn’t have one so I got the rogue sport. After a couple months with it, I love it, too!

Fuel efficientI like the safety features of the vehicle. Back up alarm is helpful as well as warning whenever someone is in my blind spot. The parking brake does not require a lot of effort to engage it disengage.

Packed with safety and advanced technologyLots of bells and whistles. Great looks, vehicle economy, and safety features. A small SUV perfectly suited for me. It will take some time for me to learn how to use all the technology features that come with the SUV. I am actually amazed with the high end features in such an inexpensive vehicle compared to the competition.
