The Good
The 2018 Nissan Frontier boasts strong performance from its available V6 engine and a reputation for reliability, appealing to practical buyers. Its simple, functional design offers a classic truck aesthetic. While not the most fuel-efficient, its affordable price and proven track record provide excellent value. For emotional buyers, it represents a tough, dependable workhorse capable of handling various tasks.
The Bad
The 2018 Nissan Frontier's weaknesses include an outdated interior design and technology features compared to newer competitors. Fuel economy is subpar, and the ride can be stiff. Watch out for potential rust issues, particularly in regions with harsh winters. Some owners have reported issues with the timing chain tensioner, so listen for unusual engine noises.

What Problems Does the 2018 Nissan Frontier Have?
How long will the 2018 Nissan Frontier last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Crash-test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) vary depending on the cab configuration. The Crew Cab generally receives four stars overall, while the King Cab often receives lower ratings. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) ratings can also vary and are not consistently high across all categories. Its older design lacks advanced safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, or blind-spot monitoring, which are common in newer vehicles. The emphasis is more on basic functionality and durability rather than cutting-edge technology.

How Does the 2018 Nissan Frontier Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle Cab; Truck?
For buyers prioritizing value and simplicity, the Frontier is a good choice. If off-road capability and resale value are paramount, the Tacoma is a better option. For those seeking more modern features and better fuel economy, the Colorado/Canyon might be considered, but be aware of potential reliability concerns. A similar alternative to the Frontier would be an older, well-maintained Honda Ridgeline, which offers a more comfortable ride and unique features like a bed trunk, but may not be as capable for heavy-duty tasks. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual needs and priorities.

After my f150 was totaled last winter, I was looking forAfter my f150 was totaled last winter, I was looking for another F150 with eco boost engine. Being mid winter there were not any used trucks with decent mileage available. I found a 2018 pro x with 70k. It wasn’t as luxurious as my ford but it was loaded with navigation. I purchased it. What a good decision. Besides a battery replacement and fluid changes I haven’t had one issue. It’s a strong truck with great acceleration And torque. I’m 6-1 and fit comfortably in the cab. Yeah it is a midsize, so I sacrificed size but I adapt. The only negative is poorer gas mileage. My ford eco boost averaged 16+ whereas my Nissan gets12 mpg on a good day.

Great Truck!Have owned my 2018 Nissan for 2 years. It is the extra cab model and equipped with the V6 motor. This truck has been terrific so far. It rides good, has more than enough power and is very comfortable. Whats not to like?

Great small truckThis a small size truck with a lot of power for towing my boat. I was surprised how much power the V-6 actually has. I would have given 5 stars for comfort but my wife complains that the seats are too firm.

Great ride for off road , towing jet ski and boatThis truck (pro4x) has met my expectations as a commuter and towing may toys, boat and jet ski.I wod highly recommend this mid size truck over any other brands.

Nice smaller truckNeeded a truck to pull a small boat. The frontier is a little plain inside and out, but rides nice and has plenty of power. Fits easily in the garage, even with 4 doors. Needed 4 doors so we could take people out with us fishing.

Great truckThis truck may be 13 years old in the design, but it has all the bugs worked out and it is almost perfect. It doesn’t have all the bells, buttons, and whistles of the newer designed midsized trucks and that’s the main reason I bought it. I don’t like all those computer controlled systems that a sensor goes bad and no one but the dealer can fix it. The engine is the 4.0 L V6 that has more torque than any of the competition, the transmission is only a 5 speed which it could be better but it is a solid truck transmission not something being also used in the family SUV. Fuel economy isn’t good at only 16.4 everyday, but it’s probably within a couple of the competition. You don’t buy a truck for fuel economy you buy it to work for you. We traded a 2017 Chevy Equinox a 2.4L 4 cyl that only got 19 everyday driving so I’m not complaining. Considering what this truck can haul or pull it out does the car many times over.

A work carThis car functions well as a work truck but not much beyond that. I like having the cargo space and that it is a 4x4 which at times I use up to 3 times a week. It does work well off road with the 4x4 engaged. I brought it used but it is still relatively new regular use but it lacks refinement. Rides like a work truck and a little too much at that. I do like the style of it and seems to do well in general. It also has a powerful V-6 4.0 engine that uses quite a bit of gas though probably more economic than a V-8 truck. So far it is been a good car but I only had it for a few months.
