Analysis
What Problems Does the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Have?
Specific recalls for the 2021 model year should be checked via the NHTSA website using the VIN. Common areas for recalls across various Mercedes-Benz models include potential issues with fuel pumps, airbags, and brake systems.
Long-term reliability can be a concern, particularly with the air suspension system (if equipped) and the potential for oil leaks in the engine. The AMG models, with their high-performance engines, may require more frequent maintenance and are potentially more susceptible to wear and tear over time. Regular maintenance and adherence to the manufacturer's recommended service schedule are crucial for mitigating potential problems. It's advisable to have a pre-purchase inspection performed by a qualified Mercedes-Benz mechanic to identify any existing or potential issues.
How long will the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class last?
Weaknesses over time can include deterioration of rubber components, such as suspension bushings and seals, leading to potential leaks and ride quality degradation. The air suspension, if equipped, may require costly repairs as it ages. Keeping up with fluid changes (oil, transmission, coolant) is crucial for maximizing engine and drivetrain longevity. Models with more advanced technology may face obsolescence of certain features as newer technologies emerge.
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Standard driver-assistance features include active brake assist, blind-spot assist, and attention assist. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane change assist, and evasive steering assist. These systems enhance safety and convenience, making driving less stressful.
Safety features include multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and a rearview camera. Optional safety features include a surround-view camera system and a head-up display.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS should be consulted for specific scores. The E-Class typically performs well in these tests, earning high marks for occupant protection. These safety technologies and strong crash performance make the E-Class a safe and reliable choice for drivers and passengers.

2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Prices and Market Value
Depreciation is typical for luxury vehicles. Factors affecting resale value include the car's condition, mileage, service history, and optional equipment. Models with desirable options and a clean history command higher prices. Low mileage and meticulous maintenance records can significantly improve resale value.

How Does the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?
Reliability is a weak point for the E-Class compared to the Lexus GS (although the GS is discontinued, used models are available), which is known for its exceptional reliability. The Genesis G80 offers a similar level of luxury and features for a lower price, making it an attractive alternative.
For buyers prioritizing driving dynamics, the BMW 5 Series is a strong contender. For those seeking ultimate reliability, a used Lexus GS might be a better choice. If value is a primary concern, the Genesis G80 presents a compelling alternative.

Final Verdict: Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a Good Passenger Sedan?
Specific trims like the E450 offer a good balance of performance and comfort. The AMG E63 S is for those who prioritize exhilarating performance above all else. If reliability is a top concern, consider alternatives. Ultimately, the E-Class is a compelling choice if you value luxury, technology, and brand prestige, and are willing to accept the associated costs.

Buy a 2014-2016 insteadGet a 2014-2016 instead. I owned a 2014 E350 for 7 years. I loved it. Someone t-boned it and it was totaled in 2022. I bought a 2021 E350, figuring it would be as good or better. NO WAY. The 2014 is part of a model line called W212 - it includes 2015 and 2016. After that, although OK, the model line is W213 (2017-2023) and it is not nearly as good. No spare, No CD player, annoying and misfiring touch controls, Voice commands misfire, way less front seat storage, and annoying transmission jerks on most of them. BUY A 2014-2016 E-class and you will not be sorry.

Most unreliable car ever2021 E450 Cabriolet: 7th new car from dealership. Delivered Dec 28, 2020. 1st month car was towed in. Took 2 months for new 48 v battery from Germany. Been towed in 6 more times because it wouldn’t start. Out of service over 3 months in last 15-16 months. In shop right now for 2 wks. Keep blaming “software problems “.

Very nice car so farOwned for a month so far. Aside from a slight rattle occasionally in the passenger door everything is great. Still on the 1000 mile engine break-in but it is very quick. Gas mileage is running about 20 MPG in town and 29 on the highway. Very comfortable and feels very much like a luxury car. Traded in a 2016 Audi A6 which was also a very good car. The E450 just feels more luxurious and quicker. Slightly better steering feel as well.

A Starship Enterprise-type vehicleIt’s a well engineered vehicle from the steering wheel to the technical features, to the suspension, to the tires. The GPS is easy to use and much more efficient than previous versions.
