The Honda CR-V, a compact SUV, has been a popular choice since its introduction in 1997. The 2022 model continues this legacy, offering practicality and reliability. It's available in LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring trims. Pricing typically ranges from the high $20,000s to the low $30,000s. Its reputation for fuel efficiency, spaciousness, and dependability makes it a standout in its class. It's a 5-door SUV.
The Good

The 2022 Honda CR-V excels in reliability and fuel efficiency, appealing to practical buyers. Its comfortable ride and spacious interior make it ideal for families. While not a performance SUV, its adequate power provides confident daily driving. The CR-V retains its value well, a plus for resale.

The Bad

While generally reliable, the 2022 CR-V's infotainment system can feel dated to some. The base engine's acceleration is adequate but not exciting. Some owners have reported minor issues with the electronics. Rivals offer more engaging driving dynamics. Regular oil changes and transmission fluid checks are vital for its longevity.

What Problems Does the 2022 Honda CR-V Have?

The 2022 Honda CR-V is generally reliable, but some issues have been reported. Some owners have mentioned problems with the infotainment system, such as slow response times or glitches. Others have reported issues with the automatic braking system activating unnecessarily. Some have noted the A/C system not blowing as cold as expected. There have been occasional complaints about battery drain.

Check for any recalls related to the 2022 CR-V on the NHTSA website. Common recalls, when they occur, may relate to fuel pump failures or issues with the airbags.

Long-term reliability concerns are minimal, but maintaining the vehicle according to the manufacturer's recommendations is crucial. This includes regular oil changes, transmission fluid replacements, and inspections of the braking system. Properly maintaining the CR-V can mitigate any potential long-term issues.
While no significant widespread issues are apparent, proactively addressing any minor problems early on can prevent them from escalating into more significant repairs later. The CR-V has a good reputation but like any vehicle, problems can occur.

How long will the 2022 Honda CR-V last?

With proper maintenance, a 2022 Honda CR-V can easily achieve 200,000 miles or more, lasting 10-15 years. Consistent oil changes (every 5,000-7,500 miles), transmission fluid services, and regular inspections are vital. Long-term durability is a strong point, but weaknesses may include potential wear on suspension components, especially in areas with poor road conditions. Keeping up with maintenance schedules is crucial to avoid these issues.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2022 Honda CR-V comes equipped with a range of tech and safety features. The infotainment system includes a touchscreen display (7-inch or 5-inch depending on the trim), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration (EX and above), and available navigation.

Driver-assistance features, part of the Honda Sensing suite, include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Higher trims offer blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Optional features include a premium audio system, wireless phone charging, and a hands-free access power tailgate.

The 2022 Honda CR-V typically receives high crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), reflecting its strong safety performance. Check official IIHS and NHTSA websites for specific ratings. Standard safety features include multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control. These features contribute to the CR-V's reputation as a safe and family-friendly vehicle.

reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2022 Honda CR-V Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2022 Honda CR-V competes with the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Rogue, and Subaru Forester. The RAV4 is a close competitor, offering similar reliability and fuel economy but with slightly different styling and available hybrid options. The Mazda CX-5 offers a more engaging driving experience but slightly less cargo space. The Nissan Rogue has a more modern interior design but may not match the CR-V's long-term reliability. The Subaru Forester boasts standard all-wheel drive and strong safety features.

In terms of reliability, the CR-V and RAV4 are top contenders. For driving enthusiasts, the CX-5 is a better choice. If all-wheel drive is a priority, the Forester is a strong option. The CR-V offers a balanced package of reliability, practicality, and features at a competitive price. Depending on individual needs and preferences, the RAV4 or Forester could be considered similar alternatives. The Hyundai Tucson also presents a compelling alternative with a longer warranty and striking design.

Final Verdict: Is the 2022 Honda CR-V a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2022 Honda CR-V is an excellent choice for individuals and families seeking a reliable, fuel-efficient, and practical compact SUV. It's worth buying, especially on the used market, as it holds its value well. The EX or EX-L trims offer the best balance of features and value. Honda from now on!

The 1st Honda I have ever purchased. The reliability, comfort, and technology are far superior to the other brands I have owned. Quiet with very little road noise, no wind noise, and can hear radio and phone calls easily.

A joy to drive

I have owned/leased 4 previous Honda sedans. This is my first SUV. Totally wonder why I had never looked into owning a SUV. Has a comfortable ride and interior. Love its ease of handling. Thank you Middletown Honda!

Safety

This car saved my husbands life…they don't have an option to give a safety rating but my husband completely totaled the car and he just got out and walked away…I can't thank the makers enough. 10/10 safety rating.

LOUD ACCELERATION

Loudest acceleration ever. Not surevif it's the engine or the CVT, but it's ridiculously loud. I only have 1200 miles on the car and I'm already considering trading it in because I hate driving it so much.
