The Good
The 2009 Dodge Dakota offered decent performance from its V6 and V8 engine options. It had a rugged, truck-like design that appealed to those seeking a traditional aesthetic. For practical buyers, it provided a useful blend of cargo capacity and maneuverability. Emotionally, its bold styling and towing capability gave it a "can-do" attitude.
The Bad
Known weaknesses of the 2009 Dodge Dakota included relatively poor fuel economy, especially with the V8 engine. Some owners reported issues with interior plastics and fit and finish. Rust can be a concern, particularly in areas with road salt. Suspension components and electrical systems should be inspected carefully before purchasing a used model.

How Does the 2009 Dodge Dakota Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle Cab; Truck?
Price-wise, the Dakota was often positioned competitively, offering a lower entry price than the Tacoma, but similar to the Frontier and Ranger. If reliability is a primary concern, a used Toyota Tacoma is a superior choice, though it will likely command a higher price. The Nissan Frontier offers a similar blend of capability and price as the Dakota, with arguably better reliability. The Ford Ranger, while smaller, offers a more economical option. For buyers prioritizing V8 power and a lower initial purchase price, the Dakota might be appealing, but potential reliability issues should be carefully considered.

It looked good but didnt drive and wasnt comfy. In my opinion I wouldn't buy this vehicle. You could get something better for same price! Plus after 15 mins of driving I was uncomfortable!

The eighth Dodge Truck, and one of the best!!I had my 04 dakota advertised for sale, still very reliable, but I wanted four doors. While I waited to sell it, I kept my finger on the pulse of the "Dakota Market" by monitoring, Cars.com. I had two or three of these located not far away for over eight months. When the time came I sold with confidence, made a 300 mile road trip on the fourth of July, and purchased the Dakota on the fifth. Great value! More power than the 04 (same engine), better mileage, better handling, handles my camper trailer better, I love this truck!!

My DakI love my 2009 Dodge Dakota! 18,000 mi strong! Has taken me everywhere! Pros: Off-road handling, exterior styling (I like it), reliability, ease of switching to and from 4x4 Cons: Fuel Consumption, cabin noise when windows rolled down (eliminated with window visors)
