The Good
The 2016 GT-R offers exhilarating performance that appeals to the emotional buyer seeking thrilling acceleration and sharp handling. Practically, it provides surprising reliability for a high-performance vehicle and represents a strong value proposition compared to other supercars. Its distinctive design also turns heads, while some find the interior comfortable enough for daily driving.
The Bad
The 2016 GT-R's weaknesses include a firm ride that can be uncomfortable on rough roads and an aging interior design that lacks the refinement of newer competitors. Also, watch out for potential transmission issues, particularly with aggressive driving, and high maintenance costs associated with its performance capabilities. Tire wear can also be significant.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2016 Nissan GT-R Have?
Recalls for the 2016 GT-R have been relatively limited. It's essential to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the most up-to-date recall information. Long-term reliability largely depends on maintenance and driving habits. Cars that are meticulously maintained and not driven excessively hard tend to hold up better. Some owners have reported minor electrical glitches over time, but these are not widespread. The key is to look for well-documented maintenance history when considering a used 2016 GT-R. Regularly scheduled services, including transmission fluid changes and differential maintenance, are crucial for preventing major problems.
How long will the 2016 Nissan GT-R last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are relatively limited compared to modern vehicles. It includes a rearview camera, but lacks advanced features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, or blind-spot monitoring, which were not commonly available on GT-Rs of this era.
Safety features include standard airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and stability control.
Crash test ratings for the 2016 GT-R are not comprehensive. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA may have limited data due to the GT-R's low production volume. Generally, sports cars are not subjected to the same rigorous testing as mainstream vehicles.
Optional features were mostly limited to trim-specific upgrades like the Recaro seats in the Black Edition and the Nismo's enhanced performance components. The focus was primarily on performance rather than a wide array of tech or safety features.

How Does the 2016 Nissan GT-R Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?
In terms of features, the GT-R's infotainment system is dated compared to its rivals. Reliability is generally good for a high-performance car, but transmission issues can be a concern. The Porsche 911 is often considered more reliable overall.
Alternatives to the GT-R include the Porsche 911 Carrera S for a more refined experience, the Audi R8 for luxury and performance, and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for raw power at a lower cost. The BMW M4 offers a sportier, yet more practical, alternative at a lower price point.

Most fun car I have owned and I owned many. This car meets all expectations. If you want to go fast to get on a highway or pass a car the power is immediately available. If you want to just cruise its very comfortable to drive at all speeds.

I love my GTR - reliable daily driverI love my GTR in everyday even though I have an ISF as well. I drive it daily for everything from getting groceries or just having fun. It is reliable, incredibly fast and gets tons of attention. It has incredible performance that can beat Lambo's, Ferrari's etc. I could own a more expensive exotic car but they are less reliable, more expensive, maintenance can be expensive as well and I won't get the performance that I get from the GTR. My friend said half the time his a/c doesn't work in his lambo. I never have to worry about any of that. 🙂

Dream GTRI have been loving these cars from a distance for a long time. I have had multiple "sports" cars (240SX, RX8, 350, and Shelby GT350) and this GTR is the one that keeps the smile on my face. The ride is a bit rough and the mechanical noises take getting used to but the performance is amazing. I highly recommend.
