The Good
The 2018 Volvo XC60 offers a compelling blend of advantages. Performance is strong, especially with the T6 and T8 powertrains. It provides exceptional comfort with supportive seats and a smooth ride. The elegant Scandinavian design is a major draw. While not the most fuel-efficient, it's competitive. It provides a sense of safety and sophistication, appealing to emotional buyers, while its practicality and reliability are attractive to the rational mind.
The Bad
Some common weaknesses of the 2018 Volvo XC60 include the sometimes-sluggish infotainment system response and a smaller cargo area compared to some rivals. The rear visibility can also be limited. Watch out for potential electrical glitches and ensure the air suspension (if equipped) is in good working order. Certain model years have reported issues with excessive oil consumption.

Recalls have been issued for issues such as potential fuel leaks, airbag malfunctions, and software glitches affecting safety systems. Always check the NHTSA website for the most up-to-date recall information specific to your VIN.
Long-term reliability concerns tend to revolve around the complexity of the vehicle's electronics and the potential for issues with the turbocharging and supercharging systems in the T6 engine. The air suspension, if equipped, can also be a source of problems as the vehicle ages. Regular maintenance and addressing any issues promptly are crucial for mitigating potential problems. Staying updated on software updates from Volvo is also recommended to address known software-related bugs. Specific to 2018, there are reports of premature brake wear.

How Does the 2018 Volvo XC60 Compare to Other Wagon?
The XC60 excels in design and safety features, often surpassing its rivals in these areas. However, its infotainment system can be less intuitive than those in the BMW and Audi. Reliability is generally good, but not quite as strong as the Lexus. Price-wise, the XC60 is competitive, though the Acura RDX often presents a more affordable option.
Alternatives to consider include the Acura RDX for better value and the BMW X3 for a sportier drive. The Audi Q5 offers a similar level of luxury and refinement. Whether one of these is "better" depends on individual priorities; the Volvo XC60 stands out with its unique Scandinavian design and focus on safety.

ENGINE SHEARING AWAY FROM CARI BOUGHT MY 2018 XC 60 NEW. AT 70,000 MILES, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR 70,000 MILE WORKUP. I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE WAS SHEARING AWAY FROM THE BLOCK. I WAS TOLD THIS WASN'T UNCOMMON FOR THESE CARS. THEN. THE REAR O2 SENSOR FAILED. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH BATTERIES AS WELL(NOT UNEXPECTED, THE BATTERIES WERE 5 YEARS OLD) AND WERE 800.00 FOR BOTH. 5,000 DOLLARS WORTH OF WORK ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 75,000 MILES.

Best car I’ve ever ownedI LOVE this car. Love it. The pickup is amazing and the car is extremely comfortable. Bonus points for a great stereo system! It’s my favorite car I’ve ever owned (I’m 54). Five +++ stars!

(Almost) Perfect SUVI have owned the 2018 XC60 T8 Inscription for 3 years now. The vehicle was brand new and now has over 110k miles on it. Here is the breakdown of my rating: Performance - The T8 has incredible acceleration and handling, but the braking is a bit touchy. Easy to get used to, but easy to trigger some of the active safety features the first time you hit the brakes. Not a quick as a Tesla, but a 5.3s 0-60mph is impressive in a 4-cyl SUV. Styling - I absolutely love the sleek, minimalist styling Volvo is known for, and the XC60 fits that to a T. Clean lines, and incredibly comfortable. But they can keep the crystal shifter… Reliability - I have had -0- mechanical or performance issues, and only had to replace wear items. I docked it one star because of a glitch in the infotainment system that decided to max out the gain on the microphone right next to a speaker and send a shrill 90dB screech into the cabin… once the software was flashed the problem went away - only happened once and was a free repair (well out of warranty). I am definitely going to be a Volvo owner for life and am looking forward to taking advantage of the overseas delivery program with my next Volvo purchase.

Safest, most stylish and luxurious crossoverThis SUV has everything I want. First and foremost, the R-design line of Volvos is the next best thing under getting a Polestar. I’ve used every of the drive modes, and they all have unique and distinct driving advantages based on your environments and requirements. The Bowers and Wilkins audio upgrade is state of the art. The on screen technology is easy, user friendly, touch activated, and beautiful. The navigation has an onscreen draw/write function that is useful and unique. The wrap-around design of the cockpit is not only comfortable and intuitive, but also inspires a sense of control and safety. The R-Design 21-inch rims are an unmatched styling accent amongst the XC60’s competitors. If I had to have a complaint it would only be a couple things: rear seats don’t recline and there is no ambient lighting other than the cool LEDs which are just fine for me. This car/crossover in my humble opinion is as close to perfect as I could want. I highly recommend any Volvo but for a midsize cross over the XC60 T6 R-Design is my recommendation.

First Volvo I have ownedIt has tons of features and I feel extremely safe when driving it. I was surprised to see all the new features when upgrading from my last car. The technology is a bit of getting used to however I can tell it will be great once I understand it all.

Luxurious drive, but software issues are challengiI have owned the 2018 model volvo XC 60 for 1yr 6 months. I love this car, it it comfortable, reliable with great styling. However it has 3 major problems. 1. The inboard computer is slow. It takes time to boot up and to respond to you. They should put more ram memory or put in faster processor. 2. When you put it in reverse, the mirrors point downwards to allow you to see where you are reversing, but when you shift to drive, the mirrors take their time to go back to original position. Sometimes the mirror dont go back to their original position and you have to adjust the mirrors. This is hazardous as you cannot use your mirrors to determine if it is safe to pull out. 3. After 18 months of use, the battery in the key fob needed to be replaced. Changing the battery is not easy. Whoever designed it did a poor job of it. There are 2 plastic tab locks that need to be fiddled with while sliding the side off. Way too many steps. I had to go to dealer to have them change it for me. I am pretty handy replacing parts, but a simple change of battery took me 5 hours to accomplish. This was evening after watching a ytube video on changing battery. Very annoying and waste of time. Why can they not put a simple screw to secure the fob instead of numerous manipulation. Overall I love the car and hope they fix the above problems.

Only been a week...It’s only been a week for us but it is just what we were looking for! We were looking for the safety features combined with the comfort, handling and ride all wrapped up in a sporty look and we found it!

Not good car.I bought this car in May 2018. Just a year later, the click sound appeared on the driver's side, from below to the brake and near the steering wheel. The Volvo car service has been repaired many times and has not been repaired. I contacted Volvo USA customer care. But they never answered me. This sound is not loud, but very distracting the driver. I don't recommend this car.
