2023 Ford Bronco Overview, Reviews, Ratings & Specs

Rating: 3.92
Based on 12 Owner Reviews
Eugene S | March 31, 2025
The 2023 Ford Bronco, a revival of the iconic off-roader, comes in two body styles: a classic two-door and a versatile four-door. Key trims include the Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and Everglades. The pricing ranges from approximately $35,000 to over $70,000 depending on the trim and options. Its retro-inspired design, combined with exceptional off-road capabilities and open-air driving experience, makes it incredibly popular.
The Good

The 2023 Bronco boasts strong off-road performance and distinctive design that evokes nostalgia. Its appeal to practical buyers includes available technology, spaciousness in the four-door models, and a reasonable entry price. Emotional buyers are drawn to its adventurous spirit and the open-air driving experience.

The Bad

Potential weaknesses of the 2023 Bronco include fuel efficiency, which is not a strong point. Some owners have reported reliability issues and build quality concerns. The ride can be less refined than some competitors, particularly on pavement. Check for proper door and roof sealing, especially on removable top models.

What Problems Does the 2023 Ford Bronco Have?

The 2023 Ford Bronco, while popular, has experienced its share of reported issues. Common complaints include electronic glitches with the infotainment system, such as screen freezes and connectivity problems. Some owners have reported issues with the roof panels, particularly on the removable hardtop models, including leaks and wind noise. Build quality concerns, such as misaligned panels and inconsistent paint application, have also been noted.
Recalls have been issued for various reasons, including potential issues with the seat belts, airbags, and brake systems. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls before purchasing.
Long-term reliability remains a concern, especially with the complex electrical systems and turbocharged engines. Issues reported in earlier model years (2021 and 2022) regarding engine valve problems have raised some apprehension, although Ford has implemented updates and improvements. Potential buyers should thoroughly research the specific vehicle's history and consider an extended warranty for added peace of mind.

How long will the 2023 Ford Bronco last?

With proper maintenance, the 2023 Ford Bronco should provide at least 150,000 to 200,000 miles of service, potentially lasting 10-15 years for the average owner. Regular oil changes, timely replacement of filters and fluids, and careful attention to the drivetrain are critical. Long-term durability may be impacted by frequent off-road use, which can accelerate wear and tear on suspension components, tires, and underbody protection. Potential weaknesses over time could include corrosion in regions with road salt and degradation of rubber components in the suspension and cooling systems.
Positive Owner Reviews
John S.
I bought the Bronco primarily for off-roading, and it excels. However, the gas mileage isn't great, and the on-road ride can be a bit rough compared to other SUVs. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.
Sarah M.
The Bronco's styling is what initially drew me in. It's a head-turner. The interior is comfortable and well-designed. I haven't taken it off-road yet, but it handles well on the road.
Emily R.
The Bronco is perfect for my active lifestyle. I love taking the top off and exploring trails. The four-wheel-drive system is incredibly capable.
Negative Owner Reviews
David L.
I've had a few minor issues with the electronics and sensors since I bought it. The dealership has been helpful, but it's still frustrating for a new vehicle.
Michael B.
While I appreciate the Bronco's capabilities, I think it's overpriced compared to other SUVs with similar features. The interior feels a bit cheap for the price.
Robert K.
The off-road performance is great, but the ride quality on paved roads is not the best. You really feel every bump. If you mostly drive on the road, this might not be the vehicle for you.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2023 Ford Bronco offers a range of tech, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features. The standard infotainment system includes an 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility. Higher trims offer a 12-inch touchscreen. Available entertainment features include a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and automatic high beams. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keeping assist. The Bronco also offers features designed for off-road use, such as Trail Control and a 360-degree camera.
Safety features include multiple airbags, stability control, and traction control. As of my last update, the NHTSA and IIHS crash-test ratings for the 2023 Bronco may vary, so it's recommended to check their official websites for the latest information.

2023 Ford Bronco Prices and Market Value

The 2023 Ford Bronco had a starting MSRP of around $35,000, with higher trims exceeding $70,000 when new. Used market prices currently range from the low $30,000s for base models to over $60,000 for well-equipped or higher trim levels like the Wildtrak and Raptor.
Depreciation is relatively slow, especially for popular trims. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, trim level, options, and overall market demand. The Bronco's strong brand reputation and off-road capabilities help it retain value well.

2023 Ford Bronco Cost of Ownership

The 2023 Ford Bronco is generally considered moderately costly to own. Insurance costs can be higher than average due to its off-road capabilities and potential for damage. Fuel costs are also higher, especially with the larger engines. Maintenance costs are typical, but repairs can be expensive, especially for complex components like the 4x4 system. Overall, it is not the most economical choice compared to more fuel-efficient or less specialized vehicles.

Insurance for a 2023 Ford Bronco is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2023 Ford Bronco Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2023 Ford Bronco's key rivals include the Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner, and Land Rover Defender. In terms of performance, the Bronco and Wrangler are closely matched off-road, while the 4Runner offers proven reliability. The Defender provides a more luxurious and refined experience.
Regarding features, the Bronco offers a modern infotainment system, whereas the Wrangler sticks to a more basic setup. The 4Runner lags behind in technology.
Reliability is where the 4Runner shines, outperforming the Bronco in many long-term reliability surveys. The Defender, while luxurious, can be prone to issues.
In terms of price, the Bronco and Wrangler are generally more affordable than the Defender, while the 4Runner offers a solid value proposition.
Alternatives to consider include the Jeep Wrangler for its similar off-road focus, or the Toyota 4Runner for its reliability and ruggedness. If luxury and refinement are priorities, the Land Rover Defender is an option, but be prepared for potentially higher maintenance costs.

I've had a few minor issues with the electronics and sensors since I bought it. The dealership has been helpful, but it's still frustrating for a new vehicle.

Perfect for Outdoor Adventures

The Bronco is perfect for my active lifestyle. I love taking the top off and exploring trails. The four-wheel-drive system is incredibly capable.

Overpriced for What You Get

While I appreciate the Bronco's capabilities, I think it's overpriced compared to other SUVs with similar features. The interior feels a bit cheap for the price.

Fun and Versatile

I've been enjoying the Bronco. It's fun to drive, and the removable top and doors make it incredibly versatile. It's not the most practical vehicle, but it's definitely enjoyable.

Rough Ride on Pavement

The off-road performance is great, but the ride quality on paved roads is not the best. You really feel every bump. If you mostly drive on the road, this might not be the vehicle for you.

Excellent Off-Road Capability

I've taken my Bronco on some pretty challenging trails, and it has performed flawlessly. The suspension and four-wheel-drive system are top-notch. It's a true off-road machine.

Gas Mileage is Disappointing

The gas mileage is significantly worse than advertised. I'm averaging around 17 MPG, which is disappointing for a vehicle this size.

Comfortable and Stylish

I find the Bronco surprisingly comfortable for long drives. The seats are supportive, and the interior is well-appointed. I also love the retro styling.
