What Problems Does the 2018 Volvo V60 Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2018 Volvo V60 can include issues with the Sensus infotainment system, such as freezing, slow response times, or connectivity problems. Some owners have reported electrical issues, including sensor malfunctions and problems with the car's various electronic systems. Oil consumption can be a concern for some of the turbocharged engines, so regular monitoring is advisable. Recalls related to airbags, fuel pumps, and other safety-related components may have been issued; checking the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the latest recall information is recommended. Long-term reliability concerns revolve around the complexity of the vehicle's electronics and the potential for expensive repairs as the car ages. The Polestar variant, with its performance-tuned components, may require more frequent maintenance and potentially higher repair costs. Ensure to review the car's maintenance history thoroughly before purchasing a used model. Always check for any outstanding recalls before purchasing any used car.

How long will the 2018 Volvo V60 last?

With proper maintenance, a 2018 Volvo V60 can reasonably be expected to provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-15 years of service. Regular oil changes, timely replacement of wear items (brakes, tires), and adherence to the factory-recommended maintenance schedule are crucial. Long-term durability can be affected by the complexity of the car's electronics; sensor failures and infotainment system issues are potential weaknesses. The turbocharged engines are generally robust, but oil consumption should be monitored. Rust can also be a factor in regions with harsh winters.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2018 Volvo V60 comes standard with Volvo's Sensus infotainment system, featuring a 7-inch display, Bluetooth connectivity, and smartphone integration. Optional entertainment features include a premium sound system (Harman Kardon or Bowers & Wilkins).

Standard driver-assistance features include City Safety (automatic emergency braking), lane departure warning, and a rearview camera. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and park assist.

Safety is a Volvo hallmark. The 2018 V60 generally receives good crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA, although specific ratings may vary depending on the model year and trim level. Standard safety features include multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control. Volvo's focus on safety contributes significantly to the V60's appeal. Optional features like pedestrian and cyclist detection further enhance safety. The Sensus system, while offering many features, can be less intuitive than systems from competitors.

2018 Volvo V60 Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2018 Volvo V60 ranged from approximately $38,000 to $65,000, depending on trim and options. Current used market prices typically range from $18,000 to $35,000, reflecting depreciation. Depreciation is influenced by mileage, condition, maintenance history, and trim level. Polestar models tend to hold their value better due to their performance focus and exclusivity. Higher mileage and damage negatively impact resale value. Demand for wagons in general also plays a role; their relative rarity can sometimes boost prices.

2018 Volvo V60 Cost of Ownership

Insurance costs for the 2018 Volvo V60 are typically moderate, reflecting its luxury status and safety features. Fuel costs are average for its class. Maintenance and repair costs can be higher than average, especially for specialized parts or services. Long-term ownership costs are therefore moderate to high. While fuel economy is reasonable, potential repair expenses can make it less economical than some competitors. Regular maintenance and careful ownership can mitigate some of these costs.

Safety features to keep a Boomer around longer.

Really like the comfortable seats and multiple safety features. As my wife and I are getting along in years these are the things that have moved to the front of our must have list. Our Volvo is a pleasure to own and drive.

Head turner

Only a few days in but can’t complain. I find myself looking for excuses to go to the store or run errands, something my wife has found quite odd. I look forward to learning more about the features and taking it on road trips.

Very luxious car. Lots of great features.

I love all the features and styling, beyond my expectations. The V60 is the perfect size for us, not too big and not too small. I also love the Silver Metallic color. The car as a used car but it's like new. The dealer did a great job in popping it!

It has the most features I've ever had.

Initially we were looking at the Range Rover Discovery and stumbled onto the Volvo XC60. As we compared the two we found the XC60 to have more technical, comfort and safety features. My husband is 6.6' and he says it's a much more comfortable ride for him than the Range Rover as well. We are very happy first time Volvo owners! Remembering a commercial slogan from our youth, " At Volvo we don't offer any rebates. Of course, when you build a good car you don't have to pay someone to buy it!"
