The Good
The 2002 S2000 boasts exhilarating performance from its high-revving engine and precise handling, appealing to driving enthusiasts. Its renowned Honda reliability offers peace of mind to practical buyers. While not the most luxurious, its iconic design and relatively good fuel economy for a sports car add to its value, making it a desirable and dependable choice.
The Bad
The S2000's weaknesses include a somewhat stiff ride, limited storage space, and a relatively noisy cabin at highway speeds. Potential buyers should watch for oil consumption issues, especially in earlier models. The soft top is also susceptible to wear and tear and should be inspected carefully. High-revving engine requires consistent maintenance.

What Problems Does the 2002 Honda S2000 Have?
How long will the 2002 Honda S2000 last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Crash-test ratings for the 2002 Honda S2000 are somewhat limited. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) did not conduct full crash tests on the S2000. NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) ratings are also not readily available for this specific model year. The S2000 was designed with a reinforced body structure to enhance safety, but its primary focus was on performance and handling. Modern safety features like electronic stability control were not available. The absence of advanced safety and tech features reflects the S2000's focus on providing a pure, driver-centric experience. The emphasis was on engaging the driver and providing direct feedback, rather than relying on electronic aids. The relatively low production volume also contributed to the limited availability of comprehensive crash test data.

Outstanding Reliability ΓΒ’ΓΒβΓΒ―ΓΒΈΓΒI have a Honda civic and a Honda CRV along with my 2002 Honda S2000. And I have to say with 158k miles on my S2000, it is the most reliable out of all 3 of my cars. All I do is regular maintenance, change oil, tires, battery..I drive it hard sometimes because this unique racecar for the streets requires it. 9,000 RPM's in this car is like 6,000 RPM's in my civic and 5,000 RPM's in my CRV and I should note that all 3 of my cars have a manual transmission. I don't know quite what Honda did with the S2000 but the engine in it, the F20C is extremely reliable, and I use to have a 94 RX7 and loved it but it was the opposite of my S2000 when it came to reliability but the drivability was about the same so if there was a car I would describe as close to the Honda it would be the 90's RX7..

My Best Car EVER (but not for every day)I purchased my 2002 Honda S2000 in 2003, when it was just 6 months old. Now, I've had the car for 17 years, at it has NEVER had even one problem. OIl changes and tires are the only thing I've ever done. The VTEC engine is amazing. Power band starts about 6500 RPM, and goes from there. So fun to drive. This is NOT a car that you'll want to drive on vacation. There is very little storage, and to be honest, it's not very comfortable after a few hours. .... and yes, it's a convertible, so it's not as quiet as my Acura MDX. But it is fun. Put this on your bucket list.

The most fun I've had in any carThese cars are becoming a collectors item, which makes the price of finding one a bit difficult, but it is SO worth it if you want a fun sports car. I've put almost 50,000 miles on the car in three years and I'm still beyond impressed by this car.

My dream carI own two of these rare birds. I purchased my 2002 last year with only 22,000 miles on the dash, and my 2000 a couple years back with 120,000 miles on it. In higher mileage forms, you can't expect typical Honda reliability out of these cars, unless you find the one grandpa only took to the grocery once a week. These cars are a BLAST! They are appreciating everyday for a reason, no manufacturer has stepped up to filling the missing gap of the S2000 since they went out of production 10 years ago. If you own one, you're going to be hard pressed not to ring out that engine all the way to 9000RPMs everytime you take it out for a spin. These cars lose their reliability purely because people beat the crap out of these cars until they end up in a ditch. Find one maintained, best purchase of your life.

One of the funniest cars you can driveThe Honda S2000 is probably one of the best card you can drive today. While it?s currently not in production anymore it is super reliable and is able to deliver performance that rivals any new cars. The stick shift is pretty easy in the car as well. The Honda S2000 is probably the best bang for your buck.

A blast to drive!!This car performs superbly. Extremely reliable as I have never had 1 issue with it. Maximum 2 people, but it is comfortable enough to take on overnight trips.

This car is extremely fun and reliable.I love this car. I have owned sports cars in the past and this one has it all. I get a lot of complements and head turning when I drive by. Most people don't really know what it is. They can't believe that Honda actually made a 2-seat sports car. It is very sexy looking and is a fantastic designed vehicle.
