What Problems Does the 2012 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Have?
Recalls for the 2012 S-Class have varied, and it's crucial to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the most up-to-date information. Common recall areas for Mercedes-Benz vehicles around this period have included fuel system components and potential issues with the seatbelt pretensioners. Long-term reliability concerns mainly stem from the cost of repairing its advanced systems. As the car ages, components are more likely to fail, and the specialized labor required to fix them contributes to high maintenance bills. Preventative maintenance, such as regular oil changes and fluid checks, is vital to mitigate potential problems and maintain long-term reliability.

How Does the 2012 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Compare to Other Sedan?
Price-wise, the S-Class typically falls within the same range as its competitors in the used market, although maintenance costs can be higher. If reliability is a primary concern, the Lexus LS is a better alternative. For a sportier driving experience, the BMW 7 Series or Audi A8 might be preferable. The Jaguar XJ offers a distinctive and stylish alternative but can also suffer from reliability issues. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities and preferences.

2012 W-221 comments60,000 miles and 9 years now having some issues. Front differential leak, driver active multi contour seat repair, coolant return hose small leak not major. I’ve test driven a number of other luxury flagships and still find the W-221 S Class to be more comfortable and road worthy. Local independent shop provides excellent service at a significant savings from MB dealership. Still love this car and do not regret purchasing even tho repair and maintenance costs are high!

This will be the last Mercedes I will ever buy. NeAll the water hoses dry rotted, alternator failed, water pump failed, radiator failed, suspension failed, ball joints failed, hydraulic suspension failed, just to name a few. All this failed in a years and a half time. Spend around 15 thousand dollars. Fourth Mercedes, horrible car. If you have this module, get rid of it. When it start raining, it will pour.

is the finest motor car I have ever drivenPurchased off a MB CPO list year and half ago. Mileage beat Prius plus you can go 14 hours easily. The Diesel is quieter than the specs on a RR S. Shadow. MB beefed up the sound deadening to negate the U.S. market thinking it would be a loud Diesel Car. It needs to run the open road every Month to keep carbon filters (DPF) clean and Nox sensors clean. Love the W221 over the W222 as the latter looks like a Toyota/ Hyundai etc from the side profile. Fender Flares give it style. The 18inch tires add to the quietness and ride comfort. See 2012 Road and Track Review. R&T did not want to give it back to MB. Just did and had the 40,000 mile service done. I like to change my own oil every 4K miles, Use Liqui Moly run it all 3 of my German Sleds. The top end stays lubricated so no clack when you start it. Mobil one sounds like a bouncing marble for about 2 seconds not the LiquiMoly Napa has it and order a couple of Hengst filters mucho better than the Mann. I think you can order them anywhere even the evil empire Wally Mart. Pay extra for the nicest lowest model you can find. Off CPO they are way more but give you details of the service history. They should do every thing they write down but MB of Midalothian Va did a bit of lying on the MB charge off list. Cabin Air Filters not changed, Vanity mirrors not replaced as noted, Engine Air filter not changed had a cracked turbo cold air inlet hose. Had to go to corporate in Atlanta to get tha $$$ back but they did finally pay me. Still waiting on the Vanity Mirrors but MB League City Tx has been working with me to get them replaced as German Plastic is sub par to U.S. feed stocks and they build their plants cheaply as they don't give a crap about clean air and safety. The car is outstanding in features, design, drive and quality. My gripe is about the CPO dealer. Had it shipped without inspection as it was in Va. and I am in Houston. Looking back never purchase a car without inspecting. Be certain to look at all the fine details of all German Warranty Paperwork. Had Heck with a P 996 I purchased in Cary N.C. I inspected but did not go far enough into the paperwork or look at the bald tires that were also checked off on the CPO. CPOs tend to be lacking in some areas like trim, wiring. Found the RMS (IMS) was leaking too. Big issue with the Porsche 996. Also the main ground wire had a resistance build up and caused electrical issues. Had to fight on that one but won the skirmish at the dealer in Houston. Long way around but check what the CPO does not cover. You will be surprised. Still love the S350 very few out there so if you find a good one snatch it up. MB is stopping the S Diesel import I believe. New S class folks don't worry about gas mileage. I just like the 700 miles without filling up. Nox sensors seem to be an issue. Two replaced with under 40K miles and they are not cheap. First was under the CPO after a bit of hand to hand combat. I may need to run to Austin to see my son more. He will be thrilled ???? F1 series coming up soon. Come and see the Lewis Hamilton Petronas /MB show. Two Socialist companies whipping up on poor capitalist U.S. Haas racing. Lewis is one cool dude though. He worked hard and was focused to get that top spot.

Best car I've ever hadJust bought a certified 2012 S550 a few weeks ago and I'm blown away at the comfort, the power of that 429 hp twin turbo engine and a plethora of luxury car features. Nobody does it better than Mercedes Benz!
