What Problems Does the 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Have?

The 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid generally enjoys a good reputation for reliability. However, some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system, including occasional glitches and slow response times. There have also been reports of battery drain issues, particularly when the vehicle is left unused for extended periods. While not widespread, some owners have mentioned experiencing unusual noises from the hybrid powertrain, which could potentially indicate a problem with the electric motors or related components.

Recalls for the 2022 model year have been relatively infrequent, but it's crucial to check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website for the most up-to-date information on any recalls or service bulletins. Long-term reliability concerns typically revolve around the longevity of the hybrid battery. However, Honda's hybrid systems have historically proven to be durable. Proper maintenance, including regular servicing and avoiding deep battery discharges, can help maximize battery life.

One potential area of concern is the e-CVT transmission. While designed for efficiency, CVTs can sometimes exhibit different driving characteristics compared to traditional automatic transmissions, and some drivers may find the experience less engaging. Ensuring the transmission fluid is changed according to Honda's recommended service intervals is essential for maintaining its performance and preventing potential issues. Always review the vehicle's service history and obtain a pre-purchase inspection from a qualified mechanic before buying a used 2022 CR-V Hybrid.

How long will the 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid last?

With proper maintenance, the 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid can easily reach 200,000 miles or more. Based on typical owner data and responsible maintenance habits, expect at least 10-15 years of service. Long-term durability is a strong point, with the engine and hybrid system being generally robust. However, battery life is a consideration as it degrades over time. Regular fluid changes (engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant) are crucial. Keep an eye on suspension components and rubber bushings as they age. The infotainment system could become outdated over time, potentially requiring aftermarket upgrades.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Higher trims feature larger screens and navigation. Entertainment options include a standard audio system, with upgraded premium audio systems available on higher trims. All trims come standard with the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistance features. This includes adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and road departure mitigation. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard features.

Optional features include a power tailgate, a heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery. Some trims offer wireless charging pads.

Safety is a key focus, and the 2022 CR-V Hybrid has consistently earned excellent crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). These ratings reflect the vehicle's strong performance in various crash scenarios. Specifically, it often achieves a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS, indicating superior safety performance. Standard safety equipment includes multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control. The availability of advanced driver-assistance systems further enhances safety by helping to prevent accidents.

2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Insurance

Insurance for a 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid competes with vehicles like the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Ford Escape Hybrid, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, and Kia Sportage Hybrid. In terms of reliability, the CR-V Hybrid and RAV4 Hybrid are generally considered top contenders. The Tucson and Sportage hybrids offer more modern styling and technology features at a potentially lower price point, but long-term reliability data is still emerging. The Escape Hybrid provides a more engaging driving experience but sacrifices some cargo space.

In terms of performance, the CR-V Hybrid offers adequate power for most driving situations. Its fuel economy is competitive within the segment. The RAV4 Hybrid is a very close competitor, offering similar performance and features. The Tucson and Sportage Hybrids often boast slightly more powerful hybrid systems.

Pricing is generally comparable across these models. Considering the CR-V Hybrid's strong reliability reputation and well-rounded feature set, it remains a solid choice. However, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is a very similar alternative and worth considering. The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and Kia Sportage Hybrid provide compelling alternatives for buyers prioritizing newer technology and design at a potentially lower cost, but with slightly more risk regarding long-term reliability compared to the Honda and Toyota. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities and preferences.

With 40-48 mpg around town and close to 40 mpg on the highway, we have saved several thousand dollars on gas by trading our Odyssey for this CRV-hybrid. It can carry a lot of baggage and is really comfortable on long trips. Great heating and cooling system, top-notch reliability with low maintenance costs. Our other car is a 2014 CR-Z hybrid, and we've owned 8 Hondas to date.

We are very happy with the car's performance and comfort. The only two issues we've run into are one, the mileage we're getting isn't close to what was on the sticker, and two, the computer/entertainment system has had to be rebooted and the car restarted on several occasions for it to work properly. We've also had to change the cable fairly frequently to sinc with the iPhone.

This is our eighth CRV, starting with a 1999. The model hasn't change all that much the past several years, nor should they. Stylish, dependable, great gas mileage (32-41) and just an all around great vehicle. We looked at the newest model but were really put off by the styling. It is truly boring, and looks like most of the other mid-sized SUVs-- a tank-like box. I'm sure it's a great vehicle, but it looks stodgy to u

2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid AWD: A driver's delight

We traded our 2019 Honda Odyssey for this CR-V Hybrid AWD thinking the better mileage would pay for itself in years to come. Our Odyssey was worth so much in trade that the cost to us for the CR-V was only $4,000. The CR-V averages about 41mpg in town and has gotten as high as 48mpg. On the highway, at 75 and in cruise control, we get 35mpg and as high as 39mpg. The Odyssey got 16/26. The CR-V is so comfortable and has so many safety features that it gives us a feeling of security when driving. One small complaint: Honda should have kept the shift lever instead of changing to buttons. The 2024 model has the shift lever back.

The Best for the Money

I'm thrilled with my 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Touring. It's the best, most well equipped and luxurious SUV for the money. My husband is tall, and I'm not. The driver's seat elevates nicely to accommodate my short stature. The leather feels and looks great. I like the position of the operating screen. It's set lower in the dash, compared to the Accord's, which extends above the dash. My only disappointment is that I wanted to have my CR-V raised a few extra inches, for that extra bit of clearance when off road. Because the CR-V is a unibody vehicle, getting that extra lift is not only super expensive, but it's also very difficult. Honestly, for it's factory height of 8.2 inches, it's okay. I go off road on moderate dirt, sand and gravel paths to reach great hiking trails. I'm not climbing rocky mountains.

Comfortable, Responsive, Quiet, and High Fuel Econ

I took delivery of my CR-V Hybrid about 3 weeks ago. It replaced a nearly 17-year old CR-V. I love the way my new car handles. I took it for a day trip from Phoenix up to Sedona, AZ, so about a 3,200 foot altitude difference, and got 36.4 mpg for the trip. I'm averaging about 37 mpg around town. The cabin is very comfortable and quiet.
