What Problems Does the 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Have?

The 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, while generally reliable, has some frequently reported issues. Some owners have reported glitches with the infotainment system, including connectivity problems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Others have noted issues with the automatic emergency braking system, though these are less frequent. The CVT transmission can exhibit some lag and noise, which some drivers find bothersome, although this isn't necessarily indicative of a mechanical fault.
Recalls for the 2022 model year should be checked on the NHTSA website using the VIN to verify if the specific vehicle was affected and if the recall service was performed. Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the longevity of the CVT transmission and the durability of certain interior components. Checking consumer reports and forums can provide additional insights into potential long-term issues. The Mitsubishi warranty is comparatively generous, which helps alleviate some concerns about repair costs during the warranty period. Keeping up with scheduled maintenance is crucial for mitigating potential problems and ensuring the long-term reliability of the vehicle.

How long will the 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross last?

With proper maintenance, the 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross can reasonably be expected to provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-13 years of service. Long-term durability hinges on adhering to the recommended maintenance schedule, especially regarding CVT fluid changes. Weaknesses may emerge in the form of minor electrical issues, wear and tear on interior plastics, and potential suspension component degradation. Regular oil changes, timely replacement of wear items like brakes and tires, and proactive attention to any unusual noises or vibrations will contribute to maximizing the vehicle's lifespan.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the base ES trim. Higher trims feature an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Available entertainment features include a premium Rockford Fosgate audio system. Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Optional safety features include a multi-view camera system.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) should be consulted for the most up-to-date information. These ratings assess the vehicle's performance in various crash scenarios, providing insights into its overall safety. Check official NHTSA and IIHS websites for the specific 2022 model year Eclipse Cross ratings. The inclusion of features like seven airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control contribute to overall safety.

Average price of 34k for very little warranties

One great midsized SUV for the money.

I bought my Mitsubishi eclipse cross es 2023 this spring and put 9000 miles on it. What a great mid size suv for the value. This vehicle far exceeded my expectation, I'm a 4 year trade in person but I believe this one I'll keep for as long as I can. The reviews says it's as reliable as the most expensive one's compared to on the market.

SUV to light.

SUV is way to light. SUV blows all over the road with the slightest wind. Traded out before owning a year. Service had no solutions.

The 2022 Eclipse Cross is a VERY nice vehicle

The 2022 Eclipse Cross is a fantastic vehicle. I purchased an SEL FWD with the Touring Package and absolutely love it. This is a really nice looking vehicle, and definitely looks MUCH better than the competition on the outside. The interior looks nice and clean. There is good legroom and headroom. Decent cargo space. Has a ton of safety and comfort features. The LED headlights are fantastic and really light up the road. The ride is smooth and quiet. The turbo engine, while not a racing vehicle, has plenty of get-up-and-go. I like having 2 skylights (front skylight is operable, back skylight non-movable). You sit a little higher up while driving, giving good visibility out the windows. I can't say enough good things about the eclipse cross. I have not had the car long enough to comment on reliability, but have owned Mitsubishi's for almost 30 years so reliability is one thing I don't worry about.
