Most reliable car I have ownedI bought this car with 180k miles and used it for delivering food. I used to do 100 miles/day 5 days/week and this car was a champion. I just needed replaced one sensor (I don’t remember what kind)(I replaced it by myself - zero mechanic cost). The sensor was less than $50 dollars. And then just need to change oil and coolant regularly, nothing more. I’ve been had this car 2 years. The electric battery was good when I sold it with 214k miles. Not regretting at all. The best car I have owned.

The most reliable car I ever ownI put over 440 thousand miles on my car, and I had to replace 12V, hybrid battery and electr8 water pump. Superior fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon everage. If you spend the money and install fuel efficiency ties, you will get increase in fuel economy between 2 and 5 miles per gallon.

The best reliable car I've ownedThis car gives best MPG with reliability. It is more comfortable and has a smoother ride then newer Prius models. It is slower then newer Prius models but a good economical little car overall.

Great CarGreat car to save money. I drove it for 15+ years and had no issues with it. Oil, tires, wipers is all it really needed. Not even the brakes needed replaced.

Mileage and SafetyEarly owner of Prius purchased for savings in driving! It does not disappoint. I like the older design much better (sedan) than the newer more boxy version. It is comfortable, though some taller people haven't liked the head room. It has a good trunk area and has performed very well.

This was the first version of hybrid for ToyotaAnd they took a while to bring it to market and the wait was worth it's quality of workmanship is obvious and they put more in the car than what they charged for but they could have put in cruise controller

Buyer BewareI own a 2000 Toyota ECHO with over 200,000 miles on it and it still runs great. At times I wish the car had power windows, locks and cruise control. So I bought a 2002 Toyota Prius 6 weeks ago because it has all these features , I took it to my tech before the purchase, as is recommended and everything that can be seen was good. It's the unseen that came back to kick me. BTW, the car has 85,000 miles on it. After the 30 day, one thousand mile warranty expired, the Master Warning/Check Engine light came on. I took the car to my tech and my worst fear was realized, the hybrid battery needs to be replaced. I've gotten estimates from $2,200.00 up to $4,000.00 dollars, 3 dealers and 1 independent shop. The bottom line, the car is in good shape, I like it, I just didn't expect that I would have to replace the hybrid battery this soon. So if you decide to buy a used hybrid vehicle, don't be blindsided, be prepared to replace the hybrid battery.

Prius has me sold.I have driven this vehicle for 60k miles and I bought it used with 95k on it. It is comfortable and handles well. There is a certain satisfaction that comes while driving this car that I never got in my other cars. I routinely take it to the dealership for inspection and besides changing out the original spark plugs at 140K miles and changing the AC belt, everything else has been mechanically sound. One thing that no one told me that I feel one should be prepared for is how fast a Prius goes through tires. The dealership told me it is because of the weight of the battery and system in the back. Make sure you are rotating your tires religiously. Each time I got my alignment checked it was dead on and the struts were in great condition. Overall, I am sold on a prius as a car that I will continue to drive.

Experience major breakdown on first road tripAlthough we experienced a major breakdown on first road trip a couple months after purchase, after repairs ($1100), everything appears to be fine. My daughter took a 3500 mile road trip a few days later. I've owned the vehicle for 3 months. Averages over 50 miles per gallon. My Saturn got about 300 miles to the tank. This car gets well over 400 miles to the tank. It takes between 8 and 9 gallons per fill up.

Excellent BuyFor a small hybrid this car provides a comfortable ride, good performance, outstanding reliability, and of course great mileage. Even my tall, 14 year old son is comfortable in the back seat. A little lacking in exterior styling, but a great buy.
