Before you buy a Prius test drive it when the streets are slippery. The problem with the car is you can't turn off the traction cintrol. When the streets are wet or icy the wheels will start to spin and then the traction control shuts off the power to the wheels until they stop spinning. This is very dangerous when turning into or across traffic. It's even worst when the tires begin to wear. For the people who live where it snows it's real bad in the snow. Trying to get started with snow on the ground is terible. If you ever get stuck in snow and want to spin the tires to get out forget it. The car will not let you spin the tires!

Actual quote for replacing my driver's side headlamp bulb: $398.09. enough said, I think. Also, if you run out the starter battery and it needs to be replaced, good luck getiing to it, it is in the trunk area behind a door that will not open. Basically you are left helpless with this car if anything, even minor stuff, is wrong. It is a cruel world, and Toyota has made it hust a little bit worse.

New Prius Owner For Life!

Honestly did not anticipate just how much I would love this car! It drives well for its age and the interior is still in great shape. There is a little bit of rust on it, but that's to be anticipated when living closer to Lake Michigan.

Daily driver for 7 years, no major issues! Perfect

We owned a 2006 Prius for 7 years and so far it is the best car we ever had. Very reliable, no major issues and of course a gas saver. On average we got 48mpg over the lifetime we had it. It also has plenty of room. When you fold down the back seats there is 7ft by 3.5 storage area which is plenty for a car this size. All in all I can highly recommend the Prius 2 if you consider buying a used one.

Absolutely the best value for the money

I simply can't say enough about this car. This is the simple man's beast. Great fuel economy and easy to repair, even the hybrid battery is easy to repair. One of the most reliable car and certainly the best performance for the money.

Most reliable car I have ever owner

Great vehicle, plenty of legroom, crazy good gas mileage, surprisingly quick off the line, never failed me. There is an impressive amount of storage space throughout the vehicle and hidden cup holders everywhere.

Super reliable and efficient

My wife bought this brand new and it's now 12 years old with 128,000 miles on it. It's been a maintenance dream, needing nothing more than oil changes, tires, and a couple warranty items (the hybrid battery went bad at 85,000 miles and was replaced under warranty). With the fold down seats and the hatch back, it can carry a ton. We use it as we would a pickup truck. It's incredibly useful. The downsides are mediocre quality of interior pieces (the dash panels don't line up very well), the ride quality is a little harsh, and it takes some work to stay on top of the rattles that develop. Overall, it's a wonderful value because it's so reliable and efficient. Anyone that asks for an affordable, reliable car, would be wise to consider one of these.

I purchased this car yesterday and I'm happy that I did. The car is responsive, and well taken care of by the previous owner. Very quiet, I hardly knew the motor was even running.
