Rating: 4.14
Based on 36 Owner Reviews β–Ά
Eugene S | March 31, 2025
The 2007 Chrysler 300 is a full-size sedan that brought bold styling and a touch of luxury to the mainstream market. Introduced in 2005, it quickly gained popularity for its distinctive design inspired by classic luxury cars. Key trims included the base 300, Touring, Limited, and the performance-oriented 300C. New, prices ranged approximately from $24,000 to $40,000. Its imposing presence and available Hemi V8 engine made it stand out from the crowd.
The Good

The 2007 Chrysler 300 offers a compelling blend of advantages. Emotionally, its bold design and available Hemi V8 provide a powerful driving experience. Practically, it offers comfortable seating, a spacious interior, and reasonable value for its size and features. Its relatively affordable price point and distinctive styling are key selling points.

The Bad

Potential weaknesses of the 2007 Chrysler 300 include potential electrical issues, particularly with the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). What Problems Does the 2007 Chrysler 300 Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2007 Chrysler 300 include electrical issues, particularly related to the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module). This can manifest in various ways, such as fuel pump relay failures, causing the car to stall or not start. Suspension components, including ball joints and control arms, are also known to wear out, leading to alignment problems and handling issues. Some owners have also reported transmission problems, especially with the earlier 2005-2006 models, although the 2007 model year is generally considered more reliable in that regard. Recalls have been issued for various issues, including airbag inflator problems and potential fuel leaks; it's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls. Long-term reliability can be affected by these issues if they are not properly addressed. Regular maintenance, especially fluid changes and suspension inspections, is essential to mitigate these concerns. Rust can also be a concern in regions with harsh winters, so checking for rust, especially underneath the vehicle, is recommended.

How long will the 2007 Chrysler 300 last?

With proper maintenance, a 2007 Chrysler 300 can reasonably achieve 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report reliable service for 15+ years with regular care. However, neglecting maintenance can significantly shorten its lifespan. Long-term durability hinges on addressing common issues like suspension wear, electrical problems (especially the TIPM), and transmission servicing. Weaknesses tend to emerge over time in the form of increased component failures due to age and wear and tear, rather than inherent design flaws unique to later models. Regular inspections and proactive repairs are key to maximizing its lifespan.

This car has brought me a lot of problems . Been spending too much money to fix it & now is barely running. Had put way too much cash do regret purchase
anon
Pros: Very spacious, comfortable to drive so long as you don't wear your hair in any kind of an updo, convenient fold down seats, handles surprisingly well in rough winter conditions for a RWD, big enough so that you can be seen by other vehicles Cons: Transmission oil pan rusts out (be careful you don't ruin your trans this way!), closed trans, rear rotors are very difficult to remove by design, the whole car feels cheap and unnecessarily large, pieces kept falling off of it (To be fair, I live on a dirt road, but my previous cars haven't had this problem. I had issues with brake backings, heat shields, skid plates, etc.), incredibly difficult to work on yourself because they want you to take it to a dealer, on the loud side when you're driving
Brazilian Basher!
Dont buy anything from this guy he doesnt take care of the cars he sells and wont even put a full tank of gas in your newly purchased vehicle from him!! Plus almost all his inventory has had UNPROFESSIONAL paint work done to them.. R U N ! ! !

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Chrysler 300 offered a decent array of technology and features for its time. Standard features included a basic audio system with a CD player and auxiliary input. Higher trims offered premium audio systems, including Boston Acoustics speakers, and options like a navigation system with a small screen. Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles, but included available features such as rear parking sensors. Safety features included standard antilock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and traction control. Side-curtain airbags were optional.
The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gave the 2007 Chrysler 300 generally good crash-test ratings. For frontal crash protection, it received 5 stars for both driver and passenger. For side crash protection, it also earned 5 stars for both front and rear occupants. Rollover resistance was rated at 4 stars. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) also gave the 300 good ratings in its moderate overlap front crash test. Optional features could include a sunroof, heated seats, and automatic headlights. While not cutting-edge by today's standards, the 2007 300 provided a comfortable and relatively safe driving experience for its era.

2007 Chrysler 300 Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2007 Chrysler 300 ranged from around $24,000 for the base model to approximately $40,000 for the fully-equipped 300C or SRT8. Current used market prices vary significantly based on condition, mileage, and trim level. Expect to find them ranging from $3,000 to $10,000. Depreciation has been substantial, as is typical for most vehicles of this age. Factors affecting resale value include overall condition, maintenance history, mileage, and the presence of desirable features like the Hemi engine. Lower mileage examples in excellent condition will command higher prices.

2007 Chrysler 300 Cost of Ownership

The 2007 Chrysler 300 can be moderately costly to own long-term. Insurance costs are average for a large sedan. Fuel costs vary greatly depending on the engine choice, with the V8 models being significantly more expensive to fuel. Maintenance and repair costs can be higher than average due to potential electrical issues and suspension wear. Regular maintenance is crucial to prevent costly repairs. Overall, it's not the most economical choice, especially if opting for a higher-trim V8 model.

2007 Chrysler 300 Insurance

Insurance for a 2007 Chrysler 300 is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Passenger Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Chrysler 300 Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?

The 2007 Chrysler 300 competed against rivals like the Ford Crown Victoria, Toyota Avalon, and Buick Lucerne. In terms of performance, the 300C and SRT8 models offered a significant advantage with their Hemi V8 engines. Feature-wise, it was competitive, offering comparable amenities to its rivals. Reliability, however, was a weak point compared to the Avalon. The Crown Victoria, while reliable, lacked the 300's style and features. Price-wise, the 300 was generally competitive, often offering more features for the money than some of its rivals.
Alternatives to consider would be the Toyota Avalon for superior reliability and a more refined driving experience or the Buick Lucerne for a more traditional luxury sedan feel. The Ford Crown Victoria is also an option if reliability and simplicity are top priorities, though it sacrifices modern features and styling. Ultimately, the Chrysler 300's appeal lies in its distinctive styling and available V8 power, making it a compelling choice for those prioritizing these factors over ultimate reliability.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Chrysler 300 a Good Passenger Sedan?

The 2007 Chrysler 300 is ideal for buyers who appreciate its bold styling, spacious interior, and available V8 power at an affordable price point. It's worth buying as a used vehicle if you're aware of its potential reliability issues and are willing to perform regular maintenance. Opting for a well-maintained example with a detailed service history is crucial. A lower-mileage example of the Touring or Limited trim, without the Hemi, may offer a better balance of features, fuel economy, and reliability. Avoid neglected or heavily modified examples. A thorough pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic is highly recommended before making a decision.

Sweet deal!

I fell in love with the Chrysler 300 after the multiple occasions that Avis hooked me up with one as my rental vehicle, so once I finally moved back Stateside after finishing some overseas contracting work, I decided to buy one. Some minor electrical issues (power locks and tire pressure sensors need some tweaking), but other than that, as the mechanics a Jiffy Lube affirmed, it's "in pretty good shape overall," it's a super comfy and spacious ride, and I got it at a great price!
