The Chrysler 300, a full-size sedan with roots tracing back decades, continues its legacy with the 2022 model. Known for its bold styling and spacious interior, the 300 offers a comfortable and commanding presence on the road. Key trims include the Touring, Touring L, and 300S. Pricing typically ranges from around $33,000 to $50,000, depending on the trim and options. Its distinctive design and available V8 engine contribute to its popularity.
The Good

The 2022 Chrysler 300 offers a blend of comfort and performance. Its spacious interior and smooth ride appeal to practical buyers, while the bold design and available HEMI V8 engine cater to those seeking emotional satisfaction. While not the most fuel-efficient, it provides decent value for a large sedan.

The Bad

The 2022 Chrysler 300's weaknesses include its relatively dated design and technology compared to newer competitors. Fuel economy, especially with the V8, can be a concern. Some owners report issues with the infotainment system. Parts for older models can sometimes be hard to find. Outward visibility can be limited due to the thick pillars.

What Problems Does the 2022 Chrysler 300 Have?

The 2022 Chrysler 300 generally enjoys average reliability. However, some commonly reported problems across various model years (including potentially the 2022) involve the Uconnect infotainment system. Owners have reported glitches, screen freezes, and connectivity issues. Transmission issues, although not widespread, have also been reported on earlier model years and should be considered during inspection. Other potential concerns include electrical problems, such as malfunctioning sensors or issues with the power windows and door locks. While specific data for the 2022 model year is still accumulating, potential buyers should research any recalls issued by NHTSA. Also, review owner forums and reliability reports for any recurring issues with the 300 platform. Regular maintenance and addressing minor issues promptly are crucial for long-term reliability. Preventative care, such as fluid changes and brake inspections, can help mitigate potential problems. Inspect the car thoroughly, including a diagnostic scan, before purchase.

How long will the 2022 Chrysler 300 last?

With proper maintenance, the 2022 Chrysler 300 can realistically provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-15 years of service. Long-term durability hinges on diligent upkeep, including regular oil changes, timely fluid replacements, and addressing any mechanical or electrical issues promptly. Weaknesses may emerge in the infotainment system, potentially requiring repairs or replacement over time. Suspension components might also need attention as the vehicle ages. Rust can become a factor in regions with harsh winters, so rustproofing is recommended. Overall, proper care significantly extends the lifespan of the 300.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2022 Chrysler 300 features the Uconnect 4C infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Standard tech includes Bluetooth connectivity, voice command, and multiple USB ports. Entertainment options may include premium audio systems like Harman Kardon.

Driver-assistance features comprise standard offerings such as a rearview camera and available features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. These advanced safety features enhance driver awareness and help prevent accidents.

Safety is a priority, and the 2022 Chrysler 300 includes features like multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and anti-lock brakes. Check the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) websites for the most up-to-date crash-test ratings. Optional features depend on the trim level and packages chosen, potentially adding features like navigation, sunroof, and upgraded interior materials. Overall, the 2022 Chrysler 300 provides a respectable array of tech, entertainment, and safety features suitable for its class.

2022 Chrysler 300 Prices and Market Value

The 2022 Chrysler 300 had a starting MSRP of around $33,000 when new, with higher trims reaching upwards of $50,000. Current used market prices typically range from $25,000 to $40,000, depending on the trim, mileage, and condition. Depreciation is average for its class. Factors affecting resale value include the car's condition, mileage, service history, and whether it's equipped with desirable options like the V8 engine. Demand for large sedans also influences resale value. Lower mileage and a clean title significantly increase its market appeal.

2022 Chrysler 300 Cost of Ownership

The 2022 Chrysler 300 isn't the most economical vehicle to own. Insurance costs are moderate to high, depending on the driver's history and coverage. Fuel costs can be significant, especially with the V8 engine. Maintenance and repair costs are generally average, but potential issues with the infotainment system or other components could increase expenses. Long-term ownership costs are higher than smaller, more fuel-efficient cars, but comparable to other large sedans. Budget accordingly for fuel and potential repairs.

2022 Chrysler 300 Insurance

Insurance for a 2022 Chrysler 300 is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Passenger Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2022 Chrysler 300 Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?

The 2022 Chrysler 300 competes with other large sedans like the Toyota Avalon, Nissan Maxima, and Dodge Charger. Compared to the Avalon, the 300 offers a bolder design and available V8, but the Avalon generally has better fuel economy and a stronger reputation for reliability. The Maxima provides a sportier driving experience but lacks the 300's rear-wheel-drive option and V8. The Dodge Charger shares a similar platform and offers more aggressive styling and performance variants.

In terms of features, the 300's Uconnect system is user-friendly, but some rivals have more advanced technology. The 300's pricing is competitive, but used prices might make a comparable Avalon a better value. For those prioritizing reliability and fuel efficiency, the Toyota Avalon is a strong alternative. If performance and aggressive styling are key, the Dodge Charger is a good option. For a balance of features and price, the Nissan Maxima could also be considered. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities and preferences.

Final Verdict: Is the 2022 Chrysler 300 a Good Passenger Sedan?

The 2022 Chrysler 300 is ideal for buyers seeking a comfortable and stylish large sedan with available V8 power. It's worth buying if you appreciate its bold design and spacious interior, and you're comfortable with average fuel economy and potentially higher long-term running costs. A used 2022 300 offers a better value proposition than a new one, especially if you can find a well-maintained model with lower mileage. Consider the Touring L or 300S trims for a balance of features and performance. If reliability and fuel economy are paramount, explore alternatives like the Toyota Avalon.

Chrysler 300 worth your consideration

We do recommend the Chrysler 300S with the 5.7L engine. Although it has spirited performance, the 2023 300C with the 6.4L engine is noticeably faster. Seats are very comfortable and the air conditioning is powerful. We got an honest 25mpg on our recent 1100 mile trip. Although I am a poor judge of infotainment systems, this one appears entirely adequate. The only mechanical problem was the need to replace all the original brake rotors. It took more than two months for the dealer to receive factory replacements. As of this date new ones are still available. You will like this car.
