The 2014 Chrysler 300 is a full-size sedan that blends American muscle with luxurious aspirations. Following its significant redesign in 2011, the 2014 model offered updated styling and technology. Key trims include the base 300, 300S, 300C, and 300C Platinum. New prices ranged from around $30,000 to $40,000. Its bold design, spacious interior, and available V8 engine made it a popular choice for those seeking a comfortable and stylish sedan.
The Good

The 2014 Chrysler 300 offers a compelling blend of performance and comfort. Its powerful engine options (V6 and V8) provide brisk acceleration, appealing to enthusiasts. The spacious and well-appointed interior caters to practical needs, while its bold, distinctive design offers an emotional connection. Good value for money compared to some competitors.

The Bad

Potential weaknesses of the 2014 Chrysler 300 include some reported issues with the electronic systems, such as the Uconnect infotainment system. What Problems Does the 2014 Chrysler 300 Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2014 Chrysler 300 often involve the Uconnect infotainment system. Users have reported glitches, screen freezes, and connectivity issues. Some owners have also experienced problems with the electronic stability control system, requiring software updates or component replacements. There have been some reports of transmission issues, primarily with rough shifting or delayed engagement, although these are not widespread. Some earlier 2011-2012 models had recalls related to wiring harnesses and potential airbag deployment issues; these should be checked for resolution if considering a used 2014 model, as components may have carried over or been impacted. Long-term reliability concerns tend to revolve around the electronic components and the potential for increased maintenance costs as the vehicle ages. Regular maintenance, especially fluid changes (transmission, coolant, oil), is crucial to mitigating potential issues. It's advisable to check for any outstanding recalls or Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) related to the specific VIN of any used 2014 Chrysler 300 being considered.

How long will the 2014 Chrysler 300 last?

With proper maintenance, a 2014 Chrysler 300 can realistically provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-15 years of service. However, longevity heavily depends on maintenance habits. Regular oil changes, transmission servicing, and addressing minor issues promptly are crucial. Long-term durability can be affected by the quality of the electronics; the Uconnect system and other electronic components may become more prone to failure with age. Suspension components (struts, bushings) may also require replacement over time, impacting ride quality. Rust can be a concern in regions with harsh winters, so undercarriage inspections are recommended.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2014 Chrysler 300 features a user-friendly Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, offering navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and media streaming. Base models include dual-zone climate control and keyless entry. Higher trims add features like premium audio systems (Beats by Dr. Dre or Harman Kardon), heated and ventilated seats, and power-adjustable steering wheels. Driver-assistance features, often optional, include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and lane departure warning. Safety features include standard antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a suite of airbags. The 2014 Chrysler 300 received good crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gave it a 5-star overall safety rating. The availability of advanced safety tech like forward collision warning varied by trim and options package, so checking specific vehicle configurations is essential. The Uconnect system, while generally well-regarded, could occasionally suffer from software glitches, requiring updates or reboots. The overall tech package, especially with optional upgrades, was competitive for its time.

2014 Chrysler 300 Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2014 Chrysler 300 ranged from approximately $30,000 for the base model to around $40,000 for the top-tier 300C Platinum. Current used market prices typically range from $8,000 to $18,000, depending on mileage, condition, and trim level. The 300 depreciates at a moderate rate. Factors affecting resale value include the vehicle's condition, mileage, accident history, and the presence of desirable features (such as the V8 engine and advanced safety tech). Well-maintained examples with lower mileage and a clean title command higher prices. Higher trims like the 300C tend to hold their value better than base models, although the V8 can also deter some buyers due to fuel costs.

2014 Chrysler 300 Cost of Ownership

Insurance costs for the 2014 Chrysler 300 are generally moderate, similar to other full-size sedans. Fuel costs can be significant, especially with the V8 engine. Maintenance costs are average, though repairs can be pricier than some competitors, particularly for electronic components. Long-term ownership costs are generally average, but neglecting maintenance can lead to higher expenses. Overall, the 2014 Chrysler 300 isn't the most economical choice, but it's not excessively costly either, assuming proper care.

2014 Chrysler 300 Insurance

Insurance for a 2014 Chrysler 300 is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2014 Chrysler 300 Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2014 Chrysler 300 competes with the Toyota Avalon, Chevrolet Impala, Ford Taurus, and Buick LaCrosse. In terms of performance, the 300 with the V8 engine offers a distinct advantage over most rivals. Feature-wise, it's competitive, especially with the Uconnect system. However, reliability ratings for the 300 are generally lower than the Toyota Avalon and Buick LaCrosse. The Chevrolet Impala offers a similar balance of features and price, while the Ford Taurus provides available all-wheel drive. Price-wise, the 300 is often more attractive than the Avalon but similar to the Impala and Taurus. Alternatives to consider include the Toyota Avalon for superior reliability and resale value, or the Buick LaCrosse for a more refined and comfortable ride. The Chevrolet Impala offers a good overall package with modern styling. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities, with the 300 appealing to those prioritizing style and available V8 performance over long-term reliability. The Avalon excels in reliability, the LaCrosse in comfort, and the Impala in value and styling balance. The Taurus offers AWD, not available on the 300.

Final Verdict: Is the 2014 Chrysler 300 a Good Sedan?

The 2014 Chrysler 300 is ideal for buyers seeking a stylish and spacious full-size sedan with available V8 power. It's worth buying used if you appreciate its bold design and don't mind potentially lower reliability compared to some rivals. Consider higher trims like the 300S or 300C for added features and performance, but be aware of potential fuel costs with the V8. A well-maintained example with a clean vehicle history report is crucial. It's best to have a pre-purchase inspection performed by a trusted mechanic to assess the condition of the engine, transmission, and electronic systems. If reliability is a top priority, alternatives like the Toyota Avalon might be a better choice.

This car has been extremely reliable compared to any GM

This car has been extremely reliable compared to any GM previously owned. Get 31mpg on highway and have little to no maintenance. I owned my 300 since Sept 2014 and it is still running strong with 172K miles. Can't say enough, love the engine, trany and drive train have been solid, excellent suspension and did I tell you about gas mileage! Doing 75 on freeway, it glides along.

Sad to see it go in 2023.

We had ours since 2016. It's sad to see it go in 2023. It not a fuddy duddy crossover. They all look the same and have no style. This is one of the best cars I've owned. Every three months it gets driven from Albuquerque to Dallas, in tempatures that are 100 plus, and it held its own with the AWD in minus - 15 temperatures in Northern NM. My average speed on the highway are 75 to 80 mph. and I get 30 mpg on regular. So far I only have 55k on the odometer, and I plan to keep it until the wheels fall off.

This is a luxurious muscle car. 300s

This is a luxury road car with the power of a muscle car. You can cruise with style and comfort on long trips but when you punch it, the G's will push you back in your seat. The V6/3.6L power is impressive. It doesn't have a turbo charger - doesn't need one. It has the ride of a heavy car, yet it moves if you need it to. It has an 8-speed transmission so it's like having two overdrives. With the cruise control on 70mph, I'm seeing almost 40mpg with regular gas! You will love this car! Very powerful. Very fast. Or you can just roll around slowly if you want to. You can chill or scream. Either way is cool. Reliable too!

Chrysler 300S - Big Pimpin' haha

Everything this car does is great. The ride, the handling, acceleration, the control, the radio, the comfort, the climate controls. The trunk is still good too. The 'S' has Beats by Dre that sound great. Also, while it says AWD on it, it is actually RWD the majority of the time, unless conditions dictate it to turn on.

A dream to drive.

Excellent car for city jaunts or long distance trips. Quick and responsive performance with 3.6L engine and 8 speed transmission. On Demand AWD works every time rain or snow.
