The 2016 Chrysler 300 is a full-size sedan that blends American muscle with sophisticated styling. Introduced in 2005, the 300 aimed to revive Chrysler's reputation for large, luxurious cars. Key trims include the base 300, Limited, 300S, 300C, and Platinum. Pricing ranged from around $32,000 to $42,000 when new. Its bold design, spacious interior, and available V8 engine make it stand out, offering a unique alternative to more conservative sedans.
The Good

The 2016 Chrysler 300 offers a compelling blend of performance and comfort. Its powerful V6 or V8 engine provides confident acceleration. It boasts a comfortable ride and spacious interior. The bold design makes an emotional statement, while its competitive pricing and available features deliver strong value. Practical buyers appreciate the roomy cabin and available all-wheel drive.

The Bad

Potential weaknesses of the 2016 Chrysler 300 include its size, which can make parking challenging. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system and electrical components. Fuel economy, especially with the V8, isn't class-leading. Check for proper maintenance records, particularly regarding transmission servicing and oil changes, as these are common areas of concern.

What Problems Does the 2016 Chrysler 300 Have?

The 2016 Chrysler 300 has had a few frequently reported problems. Some owners have experienced issues with the Uconnect infotainment system, including freezing, slow response times, and Bluetooth connectivity problems. Electrical issues, such as malfunctioning sensors and power windows, have also been reported. Transmission problems, including rough shifting or complete failure, are another area of concern, particularly in higher-mileage examples. Oil leaks from the engine and transmission are also noted.

Recalls for the 2016 Chrysler 300 have included issues with the side curtain airbags, potentially not deploying correctly in a crash, and problems with the electronic stability control system. Owners should check the NHTSA website for the latest recall information and ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed.

Long-term reliability concerns revolve around the longevity of the transmission and the potential for electrical gremlins. Proper maintenance, including regular transmission fluid changes and addressing any warning lights promptly, is crucial for mitigating these issues. Earlier model years of the 300 (prior to 2015 refresh) had more widespread reports of reliability problems, so the 2016 model is generally considered more reliable, but still warrants a thorough inspection before purchase.

How long will the 2016 Chrysler 300 last?

With diligent maintenance, a 2016 Chrysler 300 can reasonably reach 150,000 to 200,000 miles or provide 10-15 years of service. Key factors influencing longevity include consistent oil changes, timely transmission servicing (critical for the 8-speed automatic), and addressing any electrical issues promptly. Long-term durability weaknesses often appear in the form of suspension component wear, potential for rust in colder climates, and continued reliability of the infotainment system. Neglecting maintenance will significantly shorten its lifespan.

One of the best I've owned. I've had 5 300's. Never needs repair, a very unassuming stylishness, roomy and incredible value compared to the similar BMW, Mercedes and Audi. The 3.6L engine has as much pep as you may want and gets beefed-up with the "Sport" switch and shifting paddles.

2016 Chrysler 300 Insurance

Insurance for a 2016 Chrysler 300 is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2016 Chrysler 300 Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2016 Chrysler 300 competes with full-size sedans like the Toyota Avalon, Chevrolet Impala, and Ford Taurus. In terms of performance, the 300 offers a more powerful V8 option than most rivals, giving it an edge in acceleration. The Avalon generally offers better fuel economy and a reputation for superior reliability. The Impala provides a more refined interior and a slightly lower price point. The Taurus, particularly the SHO model, can match the 300's performance but lacks its distinctive styling.

Feature-wise, the 300's Uconnect infotainment system is user-friendly and competitive. All offer similar levels of standard and available safety tech.

Regarding reliability, the Avalon consistently scores higher than the 300. If reliability is a top priority, the Avalon is a better choice. If you desire a powerful engine and bold styling at a competitive price, the 300 is a strong contender. Similar alternatives include the Dodge Charger (for even more aggressive styling and performance) and the Buick LaCrosse (for a more luxurious experience).

Final Verdict: Is the 2016 Chrysler 300 a Good Sedan?

The 2016 Chrysler 300 is ideal for buyers seeking a stylish and spacious full-size sedan with available V8 power. It's worth buying used if you prioritize bold design and strong performance over ultimate reliability. A well-maintained example with a comprehensive service history is crucial. The 300S trim offers a sporty aesthetic, while the 300C provides more luxury features. Avoid examples with a history of significant electrical or transmission problems. If reliability is paramount, consider alternatives like the Toyota Avalon. A pre-purchase inspection is highly recommended.

great head turning car for the price

I have had 4 300's and never an issue with any of them. Every one I have had people assume its a Cadillac, when I tell them different they ask if I'm sure. Yes, yes I am. I have traveled cross country with 3 of the 4. Over 5,000 miles per trip and zero issues. Had plenty of leg room and great lumbar support for the driver. I am currently in the market to replace my 2010 300 with a newer one.

I'll never pay cash for a car Γ°ΕΈΕ‘β€” again.

Rear window defroster is falling off of the window. Can't get the car to the tow truck, if you put the car in neutral and open the door it goes to park automatically, then you can't push or pull the car onto the the truck ramp.

I have the regular limit submodel

I really am very happy I decided to buy this Chrysler instead of the challenger r/t because I kept over 10 thousand dollars in my pocket and I'm going to really enjoy installing performance parts to this vehicle even though she doesn't even need it. At the end of the day I'm going to spend just as much as I would have for the challenger but I'm going to have a car with just as much HP and way more stylish.

Muscular, roomy & Luxurious

Try this car if you want an exception out of this statement: American cars have turned themselves into soft, ugly images. They used to be muscle, powerful & with unique attitude. Now it’s just a bunch of replicas of Japanese cars. Chrysler & dodge are the only good old ones left.

You can't go wrong with Chrysler. All the best of everything for the money. Roomy and very comfortable. Performance and luxury wrapped up in one automobile at a decent price. Best V6 engine on the market.
