Jovan | March 31, 2025
The Chrysler Pacifica, a modern take on the classic minivan, has been in production since 2017, replacing the Town & Country. The 2023 Pacifica is a front-wheel-drive (FWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) minivan available in trims like Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle. Its popularity stems from its spacious interior, comfortable ride, available hybrid powertrain, and Stow 'n Go seating, which allows the second and third rows to fold completely into the floor. Pricing typically ranges from $38,000 to $55,000, depending on the trim and options.
The Good

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica offers a comfortable and spacious ride, appealing to families. Its Stow 'n Go seating provides unparalleled practicality. The available hybrid powertrain delivers excellent fuel efficiency. While not sporty, the Pacifica offers adequate performance for daily driving. Its stylish design and upscale Pinnacle trim cater to emotional buyers seeking a refined minivan experience.

The Bad

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica's reliability can be a concern, with some owners reporting issues with the electrical system and transmission. The Stow 'n Go seats, while convenient, can compromise second-row seat comfort. The Pacifica's handling isn't as sharp as some competitors. All-wheel-drive models have less stow-n-go capability.

What Problems Does the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Have?

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, while lauded for its features, has faced some reliability concerns. Frequently reported problems include issues with the electrical system, such as malfunctioning Uconnect infotainment systems, sensor failures, and problems with the power sliding doors and liftgate. Transmission problems, including rough shifting and premature wear, have also been reported, though less frequently. Some owners have noted issues with the hybrid powertrain, including reduced fuel economy and battery-related problems.
Several recalls have affected recent Pacifica model years, including the 2023 model, relating to issues such as improperly installed airbags, potential fire risks due to battery issues in hybrid models, and software glitches affecting various systems. Long-term reliability can be a concern, particularly with the hybrid models, due to the complexity of the powertrain. Prospective buyers should carefully review the vehicle's history, check for any outstanding recalls, and consider purchasing an extended warranty to mitigate potential repair costs. Reviewing online forums and owner reviews can provide valuable insights into common issues and potential problem areas.

How long will the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica last?

With regular maintenance, a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica can reasonably be expected to provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10 to 15 years of service. However, achieving this lifespan heavily depends on consistent maintenance habits, including timely oil changes, fluid checks, and addressing minor issues promptly. Long-term durability concerns primarily revolve around the electrical system, transmission, and hybrid components (if applicable). The Stow 'n Go seating mechanism can also wear over time with frequent use. Rust can be a concern in colder climates with road salt. Addressing these potential weaknesses with preventative maintenance is crucial for maximizing the vehicle's lifespan.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica boasts a comprehensive suite of tech, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features. Standard tech includes a 10.1-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims offer a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 10-inch touchscreens and built-in games. Driver-assistance features include standard automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
Optional features include a 360-degree surround-view camera, park assist, and a FamCAM interior camera allowing the driver to monitor rear passengers. Safety is a priority, and the Pacifica has generally received good crash-test ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA. Standard safety features also include electronic stability control, traction control, and a full complement of airbags. The Uconnect system is generally user-friendly, and the availability of wireless smartphone integration is a convenient feature. The FamCAM is a particularly useful feature for parents. Check specific model ratings as they are updated.

2023 Chrysler Pacifica Prices and Market Value

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica had a starting MSRP of around $38,000 when new, with higher trims like the Pinnacle exceeding $55,000. Current used market prices vary significantly based on mileage, condition, and trim level, typically ranging from $28,000 to $45,000. Depreciation is moderate for minivans. Factors affecting resale value include the vehicle's condition, mileage, service history, and whether it's a hybrid model. Models with fewer features and higher mileage will depreciate more rapidly. The Pacifica's reliability reputation can also impact its resale value.

2023 Chrysler Pacifica Cost of Ownership

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica's ownership costs are generally average for its class. Insurance rates are moderate. Fuel costs vary depending on whether it's the gasoline or hybrid model, with the hybrid offering significantly better fuel economy. Maintenance costs are typical, but potential repairs, especially on the hybrid powertrain and electrical systems, can be expensive. Long-term, the Pacifica can be moderately costly to own, particularly if issues arise. Budgeting for potential repairs is advisable, especially for higher-mileage examples.

2023 Chrysler Pacifica Insurance

Insurance for a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica competes with minivans like the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, and Kia Carnival. In terms of performance, the Pacifica's V6 is adequate, but the Sienna's hybrid powertrain offers a smoother and more efficient experience. The Odyssey excels in handling. Feature-wise, the Pacifica's Stow 'n Go seating is a unique advantage. However, the Sienna now exclusively offers hybrid powertrains which results in much better fuel economy. The Carnival boasts a stylish design and competitive pricing. Reliability is a key differentiator, with the Odyssey and Sienna generally scoring higher than the Pacifica.
While the Pacifica offers a compelling package, the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna are often recommended as more reliable alternatives. The Kia Carnival offers a fresh design and strong value proposition. If reliability is paramount, the Sienna or Odyssey might be better choices. If Stow 'n Go seating is a must-have feature, the Pacifica is a strong contender. The Sienna offers standard hybrid and AWD while the Pacifica AWD is optional.

Ranks #38 SUV

Final Verdict: Is the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica is ideal for families prioritizing space, versatility, and a comfortable ride. The Stow 'n Go seating is a significant selling point. It's worth buying if these features are paramount and the potential reliability concerns are carefully considered. Opting for a newer, low-mileage used model or a new model with an extended warranty can help mitigate risks. The hybrid model is a good choice for those seeking better fuel economy. However, buyers should carefully weigh the Pacifica against more reliable rivals like the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna.

We owned a 2019 Pacifica and traded it (with only 51,000 miles) for a 2023 Pacifica Pinnacle. We traded early because we didn't want a hybrid, yet. This one is Red and gasoline...beautiful. Having a wonderful time, enjoying all its luxuries.

My awesome Car!!!

I purchased the limited version. I am really happy with how it looks and performs so far. Plenty of room and no more arguments between children. They all have their own space. Took it on a long vacation and it performed great! With all the room and all the hooks up for all the kid’s devices it was great. Even has a hook up so our cooler ran all the time. No need to worry about it loosing power when the car was not running. I love my car, best car so far. I never considered myself a minivan person till now! The kids enjoy going on road trips now. The third roll setting is a game changer! All the grandkids fight for that setting. I have to agree it is pretty darn comfortable I would say it’s worth the price.

UConnect Is Terrible!

We purchased our Pacifica new in April 2023. Overall we like the vehicle, but DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON UCONNECT. We can't get it to work. We can't even use a basic DVD without issue. No one will help us at the dealer. We haven't been able to find any support online that helps us through the issue. It's a joke!

UConnect is a problem!

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica is a really nice vehicle to look at and drive. I just traded in my 2021 Toyota Tacoma SR5. Toyota people claim the infotainment system is antiquated in their vehicles but let me be the first to tell you, I never had problems with that system from listening to music, and using my GPS, which I would have to use a USB cord for the maps to show up on my screen. With that said, the system was always tried and true. To anyone who buys the Pacifica good luck with the UConnect system! With just my phone and my wife's phone used on this system it becomes a crap shoot on what the screen is going to show. I have it so the widgets on my screen are maps and music, which in the few days I've had the vehicle pretty much displays what it wants to display. I'm 60 years old but I'm not incompetent when it comes to infotainment systems. I really enjoy our Pacifica and the ride, compared to my Tacoma well it can't be compared because the Pacifica is a plush ride. With that being said if your purchase the Pacifica good luck with the UConnect system! Don't forget to purchase an extended warranty as it is a Chrysler which means Fiat.

The ultimate of luxury!

This car meets every expectation. We could not ask for anything else. It is the Pacifica Limited. We would love the Carmel leather but black works just fine. Best feature from other vans is the flat stow and go. We can drive our two mobility scooters straight in.
