Rating: 4.59
Based on 112 Owner Reviews
Eugene S | March 31, 2025
The 2015 Ford Edge is a mid-size crossover SUV, entering its second generation with a refreshed design. It offers a blend of practicality and style. Key trims include SE, SEL, Titanium, and Sport. The 2015 model year saw a significant redesign, making it more competitive. New, the price range started around $28,000, extending past $40,000 for higher trims. Its spacious cabin, comfortable ride, and available tech features contributed to its popularity.
The Good

The 2015 Ford Edge offers a comfortable ride and a stylish design, appealing to emotional buyers. Practically, it provides ample cargo space and available all-wheel drive. Performance is adequate with its engine options, and the Edge generally offers decent value for its price point. Reliability is generally good, contributing to peace of mind.

The Bad

Some owners have reported issues with the MyFord Touch infotainment system in earlier models. Potential issues may involve transmission hesitation and some electrical glitches. Check for proper maintenance records, especially regarding oil changes and transmission servicing. Rust can be a concern in colder climates, so inspect the undercarriage.

What Problems Does the 2015 Ford Edge Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2015 Ford Edge include issues with the MyFord Touch/MyFord Sync infotainment system, which can experience glitches, freezing, and connectivity problems. While Ford issued updates to improve the system, some owners continued to face difficulties. Transmission issues, such as hesitation or rough shifting, have also been reported, though not widespread.
Some owners have experienced issues with the power liftgate. Check for recalls related to airbags, fuel systems, or other safety-related components on the NHTSA website. Long-term reliability concerns can include potential for oil leaks, especially in higher-mileage vehicles. Inspect for rust, particularly in areas prone to salt exposure. Early model years of the second-generation Edge (including 2015) might have more reported infotainment issues than later years. Regular maintenance, including timely oil changes and transmission servicing, is crucial for mitigating potential long-term problems. It's advisable to get a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic to identify any existing or potential issues.

How long will the 2015 Ford Edge last?

With good maintenance habits, a 2015 Ford Edge can easily reach 150,000 to 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report exceeding these milestones with regular servicing. Long-term durability hinges on consistent oil changes, transmission maintenance, and addressing any mechanical issues promptly. Weaknesses over time can include wear and tear on suspension components, potential rust in areas with harsh winters, and gradual degradation of the infotainment system. The longevity of the engine and transmission depends heavily on driving style and adherence to the recommended maintenance schedule. Check for signs of oil leaks as the vehicle ages.

Bought this used a few years ago and it's been a solid purchase. It handles well in different weather conditions and the interior is nicely designed. My only complaint is the infotainment system is a bit dated.
David K.
We use our Edge as a family vehicle and it's perfect for road trips. Plenty of room for passengers and luggage. The ride is smooth and quiet. The engine could use a little more power, but overall, it's a great SUV.
Negative Owner Reviews
Jessica M.
I've had a few minor repairs needed on my Edge, mostly with sensors and electronics. But overall, it's a reliable and comfortable vehicle. The interior is well-appointed and the seats are supportive.
Karen T.
While the Edge is comfortable and spacious, I'm not happy with the fuel economy. It's lower than I expected and lower than what's advertised. Otherwise, it's a decent vehicle.
Linda H.
I've experienced some issues with the transmission in my Edge. It sometimes hesitates when shifting gears. I've had it checked by a mechanic, but the problem persists intermittently. It's frustrating.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2015 Ford Edge boasts a range of tech and safety features. Standard features often include a rearview camera and basic infotainment display. Higher trims like the Titanium and Sport offer the MyFord Touch system with an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, and advanced voice control. Entertainment features can include a premium Sony audio system.
Driver-assistance features may include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and forward-collision warning. These were often optional or standard on higher trims. Safety features include standard airbags, ABS, and stability control. Crash test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS are generally good, with the Edge often receiving high scores for occupant protection. Optional features can include a panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled front seats, and a hands-free liftgate. The MyFord Touch system, while offering advanced functionality, can be prone to glitches, so ensure it's been updated to the latest software version. Overall, the 2015 Edge provides a solid array of technology and safety features, especially in the higher trim levels.

2015 Ford Edge Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2015 Ford Edge ranged from around $28,000 for the base SE trim to over $40,000 for a fully loaded Sport or Titanium model. Current used market prices vary significantly based on condition, mileage, and trim level, typically ranging from $12,000 to $20,000. Depreciation is typical for its class. Factors affecting resale value include overall condition, maintenance history, mileage, and whether it has desirable options like all-wheel drive or advanced safety features. 2015 Ford Edge Insurance

Insurance for a 2015 Ford Edge is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2015 Ford Edge Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2015 Ford Edge competes with the Nissan Murano, Toyota Venza, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Compared to the Murano, the Edge offers a sportier driving experience, especially in the Sport trim. The Santa Fe offers similar value but may have a slightly less refined interior. The Grand Cherokee provides more off-road capability but sacrifices some fuel efficiency.
In terms of reliability, the Toyota Venza generally has a slight edge. Feature-wise, the Edge is competitive, offering a good balance of technology and comfort. Pricewise, it's generally in the same ballpark as its rivals. If reliability is a top priority, the Toyota Venza is a strong alternative. If off-road capability is needed, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a better choice. For a blend of style, performance, and features, the Edge holds its own. The Nissan Murano offers a more luxurious feel, but the Edge Sport offers better performance. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities and needs. Consider test driving several vehicles to compare them directly.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 Ford Edge a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2015 Ford Edge is a good choice for individuals or small families seeking a comfortable and stylish mid-size crossover with ample cargo space. It's worth buying, especially as a used vehicle, if you find one in good condition with a well-documented maintenance history. The Titanium trim offers a good balance of luxury and features. The Sport trim is appealing to those seeking a more engaging driving experience. However, be prepared for potential issues with the MyFord Touch system and factor in the cost of potential repairs. A pre-purchase inspection is highly recommended. Avoid neglected examples and prioritize those with thorough service records.
