The Good
The 2023 Honda Pilot offers a blend of advantages. Its V6 engine provides adequate performance, and Honda's reputation for reliability is a plus. Comfort is high, especially with the spacious cabin. The redesigned exterior appeals to emotional buyers seeking a rugged look, while the Pilot’s value and expected longevity appeal to practical minds. Fuel efficiency is competitive for its class.
The Bad
Some early adopters have reported issues with the infotainment system's responsiveness and occasional software glitches. While the new design is appealing, some find the styling less refined than competitors. The fuel economy, while competitive, is not class-leading. Higher trims can be expensive, pushing the Pilot into competition with more luxurious SUVs. Some reviewers have noted the ride can be firm.

What Problems Does the 2023 Honda Pilot Have?
It's crucial to check for any official recalls issued by Honda and the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Recalls address safety-related defects and are repaired by dealerships free of charge. As the 2023 Pilot is a redesigned model, it's more susceptible to initial-year issues that may be ironed out in subsequent model years.
Long-term reliability hinges on proper maintenance and adherence to the recommended service schedule. Keep an eye on online forums and owner reviews to stay informed about potential emerging issues. Check for TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) issued by Honda, which address common problems and provide repair procedures for technicians. Addressing any unusual noises, vibrations, or warning lights promptly can prevent minor issues from escalating into major repairs.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Higher trims offer larger touchscreens (up to 9 inches), wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a premium audio system (Bose), CabinTalk in-car PA system, and a panoramic sunroof. Available driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors. Some trims also offer a head-up display and a surround-view camera system.
In terms of safety, the 2023 Honda Pilot typically achieves high crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA. These ratings provide an indication of the vehicle's ability to protect occupants in the event of a collision. Features like advanced airbags, anti-lock brakes, and stability control contribute to overall safety. Always check the latest safety ratings from these organizations for the most up-to-date information. The optional features like blind spot monitoring add a layer of safety to an already impressive package.

2023 Honda Pilot Prices and Market Value
The Pilot typically holds its value well due to Honda's reputation for reliability. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, trim level (higher trims depreciate less percentage-wise), and whether it's a 2WD or AWD model (AWD models often command a higher price). Colors like white, black, and silver tend to be more popular and thus retain better value.

How Does the 2023 Honda Pilot Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
In terms of performance, the Pilot's V6 is adequate but not class-leading. The Pilot shines in passenger comfort and a user-friendly interior. Reliability is generally a strong point for the Pilot.
Alternatives to consider: If price is a major concern, the Hyundai Palisade or Kia Telluride offer excellent value. If performance is paramount, the Ford Explorer ST is a strong contender. If reliability is the top priority and you don't need the latest features, the Toyota Highlander remains a solid choice. The Pilot is a well-rounded choice that balances these factors effectively.

I purchased a 2023 Hilda Pilot from the Honda dealershipI purchased a 2023 Hilda Pilot from the Honda dealership on South Boulevard in Charlotte. I was treated like family from the moment that I arrived up until the moment that I drove off in my new vehicle. The service that I received from the sales associate, Christopher (Chris) Robinson specifically was absolutely amazing. Chris exceeded all of my expectations even though I was apprehensive about buying a brand new vehicle at the time. Chris put my mind at ease because he knew every detail about the car and he weighed out all of my options in a simplified manner. I will be sending all of my family and friends to Honda for their next auto purchase because Christopher Robinson knows how to take customer service to the next level while making you feel like you have a dear and trustworthy friend for life.

Does its JobThis is a nice SUV that is not flashy, but it does its job carrying the people and running errands around town. It's also nice for longer trips.

Great vehicle with some minor flawsBought my Elite in May of 2023 at a local dealer. I love the look of the car, the comfort and the handling. It is very roomy and has so many cup holders and compartments which is great. I have the brown/black interior, which I wasn't able to see before purchasing it, but loved it once I did see it. I did have an option for a gray interior one but didn't like that look as it didn't look as classy as the two toned. The lights are bright, the features are wonderful so overall a nice vehicle and still happy with my purchase. Now the not so good stuff.... Biggest problem I have is like other reviews have stated the gas mileage is not great at all and comes nowhere near the projected when the car is marketed. 19-25 it states but that is way off for sure. I don't have a heavy foot, speeding or hard breaking and I always drive in Eco because the 'Normal" mode option, the mileage is worse. Summer months my average between city and HWY is 18.5/19.5. All HWY I was able to get 23 miles one time but not again. All HWY after that first time is usually 21/22. Never have I seen 25mpg like stated. Now the Wintertime they are not as good. City/HWY is 17/19 & HWY is 19/20.5. The most miles I can get out of a tank of gas either summer or winter is now less than 355, more around the 335/345. The lane assist feature is pretty bad as well, better in the nighttime as I feel it sees the lines better but during the day is more of an annoyance than anything, so I normally don't use it. I have drove the Sport model one and that worked great and a 2022 Elite pilot and that worked flawlessly too. Not sure why mine is so bad but dealer says it functioning correctly, I told them we will agree to disagree LOL>. The wireless charging is very slow and if you have any type of case on it will most likely not work, so I just keep it shut off. I really wish Honda would have put the bigger screen in this car this time around. Looks like there is enough space for that to have happened they just chose not to. I really wish that the second you turn off the car the radio didn't shut down too. I have never had a car do that and it is frankly a big inconvenience for me. Many times, I am on the phone with clients, or I like to finish a song, but in order to do that I would have to sit with the car running and that doesn't make sense to me and it's a waste of gas. This is little but I do hope that they come out with some type of compartment for the center console as it's really big but there is no way to organize anything in it and honestly just looks like a total mess. (Again, small to many) The app to start the car and such is just okay. What I don't like is that you cannot adjust the temp or the heated seats as well as not having the app turn on the passenger seat as 95% of the time no one is in it. I feel like this is more opportunity for something to go wrong or stop working when I didn't personal choose to use it but was forced to have. I will say I do like that whatever my heated seat was at from my previous drive that is what it is at when I start my car the next time. I did end buying the Honda rubber floor mats but soon found out that the from mats leave to much carpets exposed by the gas and brake pedals, so salt gets all over it. The back ones are just fine. I did end up buying the Weather tech ones and those are great and have amazing coverage so if you live in an area where it snows, I'd keep this in mind. I also bought the side covers for the back end and the mat for the back end, which really protects the sides and back of seats from scratches which we all know ever car is prone to. I did add the trailer hitch from the dealer vs aftermarket as I wanted it to look good and sit higher where it belongs verse the aftermarket which sits much lower to the ground. Overall, now with 13,000 miles on it I am still loving my pilot despite the other things mentioned above. I hope it last me a long time as this is my first time buying a Honda vehicle.

Quiet, Great Visibility, Smooth and Spacious2023 Pilot Touring have owned for 11 months. Been all over the Southeast with it. Very happy with it. Absolutely no problems or issues whatsoever. Decided on it because of smooth quiet ride with nice large windows and visibility. Among best in class for spaciousness and cargo capacity. Would buy one again in a heartbeat.

very happy with the new pilotI purchased my Ex-L for a little more space after trading my CRV in. I had no idea it would be a nice trade, and I am absolutely thrilled with my new pilot and the new design! I even took it on the beach and it performs so well!! We really enjoyed the Outer Banks in it. I love it all wheel drive love everything about this car. It has a lot to offer for the price and you really do need to read the manual or watch the videos because there's so much more to this car than what you think.

Brand new 2023 Honda Pilot check engine lights onI bought a brand new 2023 Honda Pilot three weeks ago. It is bigger and looks better than previous generations. It's gas mileage is average, performance is OKish, nothing impressive. The brake is not responsive, you have to push the brake harder to get it stopped. But, The second day, the check engine light on. Here is the message:"Emissions system problem. Power may be reduced. See dealer". I immediately drove it to the dealership Service Dept. But, that Service Advisor said I did not make an appointment and has a kind of "do not care" attitude. It took me lots of efforts and almost 5 trips, eventually, they said it a sensor issues which is in some kind of value of the gas tank areas. They put order to replace the value and sensor. But, it has been over 15 days and no ETA from the supplier! Plus, the driver side wiper blade simply flew away the first time I turned it on in the heavy rain. It took three phone calls and two appointments to get the new wiper blade installed because it need to be "ordered" also. On the left side of back window, the bottom trim is not glued well and can easily peel off and has not fixed by the Service Dept yet. Since 1996,I used two Honda Accord which were very reliable. and a Honda Odysessy van which had transmission issues after 6 years. After that, I bought new Acura MDX and drove it for over 15 years and very reliable. That is the reasons I come back to bought this 2023 Honda Pilot. But, looks like Honda's build quality dramatically degraded. If I have choice now, I will NEVER buy Honda cars again. First, the manufacturing quality is very bad from my experience with the brand new Pilot, secondly, the experience with the Service dept is very bad also. Especially with the ordering of parts, it take over 15 days , no ETA ! what's hectic ! From the Honda manufacturer to the Service, the Honda is degrading big time. I will not recommand anybody to buy the 2023 Pilot.

Another 'Win' in the class for HondaPros: - As expected, the engineering is superior. Everything about the car just works, and works easily and flawlessly, right down to programming the garage door opener. - The ride is very comfortable and the fit and finish are excellent. - As with almost all Hondas, this tried and true V6 powerplant and 10sp drivetrain should provide years of trouble-free motoring. Cons: - Much as expected, this car does not 'stand out' in a crowd. Honda has never been known for that, nor have they tried to be, for the most part. - The flip side of a tried and true drive train is that this is a V6 motor. Older, proven technology. No turbo 4cyl. That means it also has a little less pep (but still plenty of reserve power) and that it does not get quite the gas mileage as other cars in the class
