What Problems Does the 2015 BMW M3 Have?

The 2015 BMW M3 has some frequently reported problems. The most notable is the potential for crank hub failure, particularly in early production models. This can lead to significant engine damage if not addressed. Some owners have also reported issues with the iDrive infotainment system, including glitches and software malfunctions. Premature wear of brake components can also be an issue for some owners, especially with aggressive driving.
Recalls for the 2015 M3 were issued for various reasons, including potential fuel pump failures, issues with the driveshaft, and problems with the side marker lights.
Long-term reliability concerns center around the engine's complexity and the potential for costly repairs. Regular maintenance and addressing any warning signs promptly are crucial for long-term reliability. The DCT transmission, while offering fast shifts, can also be expensive to repair or replace. Oil leaks are also a common concern as the car ages.

How long will the 2015 BMW M3 last?

With proper maintenance, a 2015 BMW M3 can easily reach 150,000 miles or more. Many owners report reaching this milestone with regular servicing and preventative maintenance. However, long-term durability depends heavily on maintenance habits. Neglecting oil changes, ignoring warning lights, or skipping scheduled services can significantly shorten its lifespan. Weaknesses that emerge over time include potential oil leaks, suspension wear, and issues with the electronics. The crank hub issue, if not addressed, remains a long-term threat. The cooling system also needs attention as the car ages to avoid overheating issues.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2015 BMW M3 comes standard with a range of tech and safety features. The iDrive infotainment system, controlled by a rotary dial and buttons, manages navigation, audio, and vehicle settings. Standard features include a navigation system, Harman Kardon surround sound, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB input.
Driver-assistance features include optional parking sensors, a rearview camera, and a head-up display. Available safety features include antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, front-seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Optional safety features include blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS are good, with the 2015 3 Series (which the M3 is based on) earning a "Top Safety Pick+" award. The NHTSA gives the 3 Series a 5-star overall safety rating.
Optional features include adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, and a surround-view camera system. The M3 provides a good balance of technology and safety, although some features are only available as options.

2015 BMW M3 Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2015 BMW M3 had a starting price of around $62,000. Current used market prices typically range from $30,000 to $45,000, depending on mileage, condition, and options. The M3 depreciates at a moderate rate, typical for a performance vehicle.
Factors affecting resale value include the car's condition, mileage, service history, and any modifications. Cars with a clean title and a documented maintenance record tend to command higher prices. The presence of desirable options, such as the Executive Package or Competition Package, also increases resale value. The crank hub issue can negatively impact resale if not addressed or preventatively maintained.

2015 BMW M3 Cost of Ownership

The 2015 BMW M3 is generally considered costly to own. Insurance premiums are higher than average due to its performance capabilities. Fuel costs are moderate, but premium fuel is required. Maintenance and repair costs can be significant, especially for specialized components like the DCT transmission and the turbocharged engine. Addressing potential issues like the crank hub proactively can mitigate long-term repair expenses. Overall, the M3 is not an economical choice, but the driving experience justifies the higher ownership costs for many enthusiasts.

reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2015 BMW M3 Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2015 BMW M3 competes with vehicles like the Audi RS5, Mercedes-AMG C63, and Cadillac ATS-V.
Performance: The M3 offers a balanced driving experience, with sharp handling and a responsive engine, similar to the Cadillac ATS-V. The AMG C63 provides more raw power but can be less refined. The RS5 prioritizes all-weather capability with its Quattro system.
Features: The M3 has a well-equipped interior with user-friendly technology, competitive with its rivals.
Reliability: The M3's reliability is generally good, but the crank hub issue is a concern. The Cadillac ATS-V is known for solid reliability, while the AMG C63 can be more prone to issues.
Price: The M3's used prices are competitive with its rivals.
Alternatives: If reliability is a top priority, the Cadillac ATS-V is a good alternative. If raw power is desired, the Mercedes-AMG C63 is a strong contender. The Audi RS5 offers a more luxurious experience with all-wheel drive. Each car presents different strengths and weaknesses, and it depends on what qualities a buyer values most.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 BMW M3 a Good Sedan?

The 2015 BMW M3 is ideal for driving enthusiasts who appreciate a well-balanced sports sedan with a blend of performance and practicality. It's worth buying if you're prepared for the higher ownership costs and potential maintenance needs. A used M3 is a good option, but a pre-purchase inspection is crucial to check for the crank hub issue and other potential problems. Look for models with a complete service history and avoid heavily modified examples. The Competition Package (available in later years) offers a performance upgrade. Overall, the 2015 M3 remains a desirable performance car, but careful evaluation is essential before making a purchase.

1 of few HP sedans available with a 3 pedal manual

Car is typical BMW M, plenty of power great brakes high end interior, it was difficult to find one with a 3 pedal manual and sunroof, this M3 did NOT come with cockpit adjustable suspension and it was scary to drive at the limit, I put fully adjustable coil over suspension on which lowered the center of gravity, improved the stance and made it handle more like an e46M3, still not perfect but much better than stock!

Best sports sedan money can buy

With a simple ECU tune this car becomes an animal. Best all around car I’ve ever driven. It can ride as smooth and civilized as anything else... but it goes like no other.

Superb handling. Ungodly power.

This car is sleek, sexy and has more buttons and gadgets than you’ll know what to do with. It handles like it’s on rails. It’s super fast stock. With a few thousand dollars it’s now 600 hp. I hope to have this car until the day I die...which, hopefully is not in this car. πŸ˜‰

Not for everyday use just for show

Hot vehicle heads turning looks, amazingly fast, aggressively loud with Remus exhaust and Activate Autowerke 90mm single mid pipe. Fun to drive specially 6 speed manual transmission that has 3 levels level 1 Efficient - closed exhaust with rev matching level 2 Sport - open exhaust with rev matching 3rd level and the best of all Sport+ - open exhaust without rev matching and full power in use. This car has a lot of modifications options Let me mention the merino leather heated seats and heated steering wheel hed up display on the windshield and all the technology this car have.
