The Good
The 2016 Dodge Viper's key advantage is its unparalleled performance, driven by its massive V10 engine. Its striking, aggressive design appeals emotionally. While not exceptionally comfortable or efficient, its robust build offers reasonable reliability. The ACR model provides incredible track performance, a strong selling point. Value lies in its exclusivity and driver-focused experience.
The Bad
The 2016 Dodge Viper's weaknesses include its harsh ride, especially in the ACR trim. The interior, while improved, lacks the refinement of some rivals. Fuel economy is poor. Watch out for potential overheating issues during extended track use. The heavy clutch and challenging handling can be intimidating for inexperienced drivers. Also, confirm proper alignment, especially on ACR models.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2016 Dodge Viper Have?
Recalls for the fifth-generation Viper have been relatively limited. Check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the most up-to-date recall information. Long-term reliability can be affected by how the car is driven and maintained. Vipers driven hard on the track require more frequent maintenance, especially regarding brakes, tires, and fluids. The ACR model, being a track-focused car, will naturally experience more wear and tear on components. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes and inspections, is crucial for ensuring the Viper's long-term reliability. Overall, the Viper is considered reasonably reliable if properly maintained, but its performance-oriented design means that some issues are more likely to occur compared to more mainstream vehicles.
How long will the 2016 Dodge Viper last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features include standard airbags, anti-lock brakes, and traction control. Optional features included premium audio upgrades, different seat materials, and various aesthetic packages. The ACR model prioritizes weight reduction and track performance, so it omits some comfort and convenience features found in other trims. Crash-test ratings for the Viper are limited, as the NHTSA and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) did not comprehensively test the vehicle. Its focus is on performance driving, so the lack of extensive driver-assistance tech is a deliberate choice to provide a more direct and engaging driving experience. The Uconnect system, while not the most cutting-edge, provides essential infotainment functionality.

How Does the 2016 Dodge Viper Compare to Other Coupe?
Regarding features, the Viper lags behind in terms of driver-assistance systems. Reliability is comparable to the Corvette, but the Porsche and GT-R are generally considered more reliable. Price-wise, the Viper sits in a similar range as the Z06, but below the 911.
Alternatives depend on priorities. For pure driving experience, the Viper is unique. The Corvette Z06 is a strong contender offering a balance of performance and practicality. The Porsche 911 is better for those seeking refinement and handling prowess. The Nissan GT-R offers advanced technology and all-weather capability. The Viper is for those who value a raw, visceral driving experience above all else. For someone looking for a more modern sports car, a newer Corvette or Porsche 911 might be a better option.

Final Verdict: Is the 2016 Dodge Viper a Good Coupe?

Great CarThis car does everything great. Its great looking, very fast, stops and handles fantastic. It rides firm in street mode, not harsh as some testers said. The seats are very comfortable. In race mode, it is harsh riding, but that is for the track. The shifter is very positive, with short throws. The never ending power of the V10 is almost scary. The fit and finish of the car is great. It draws a lot of attention,so I have to watch out for other drivers drifting over to me as they take pictures, one hand on the wheel, one on the camera. A lot of thumbs up and pointing. Always someone wanting to take pictures when you park it. I can work on it myself, something you cant do on other exotic supercars. Also, you dont see one on every corner.

Most beautiful car I have ever ownedThe performance, of this car, equals car?s costing three, and four times the price of this car. If you drive it you will smile, from ear to ear.

The most badass car I've ever owned. The car just looks like it's ready to kill you, but in reality you can daily drive it if you so choose. The aero looks like it belongs on a Le Mans' car. The interior has all the essentials needed to drive the car to the grocery store or on a road course. The stereo is on par with my iPhone...iPhone 3 that I owned almost 10 years ago. The performance this car puts out cannot be argued for it's price range. It's the best sports car I've ever owned.
