Rating: 4.68
Based on 45 Owner Reviews
Eugene S | March 31, 2025
The 2007 Hyundai Azera is a full-size sedan that aimed to provide luxury features at a more affordable price point. It was part of the Azera's first generation, which ran from 2006 to 2011. Key trims included the SE and Limited. When new, pricing ranged approximately from $25,000 to $30,000. Its spacious interior, smooth ride, and extensive standard features made it a popular choice for budget-conscious buyers seeking a premium feel.
The Good

The 2007 Azera offers a comfortable and quiet ride, appealing to those seeking relaxation. Its strong V6 engine provides adequate performance. From a practical standpoint, it's valued for its generous features at a lower price than its competitors. While not a sports car, its refined experience and value make it appealing.

The Bad

Potential weaknesses of the 2007 Azera include somewhat dated styling compared to newer models. Some owners have reported issues with the navigation system (if equipped) and certain electrical components. Also, fuel economy is adequate, but not exceptional for its class. Rust can be a concern in areas with harsh winters. Carefully inspect for these issues before purchase.

What Problems Does the 2007 Hyundai Azera Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2007 Hyundai Azera can include issues with the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), which can sometimes trigger false alerts. Some owners have reported problems with the navigation system, specifically failures or difficulty with the screen. Electrical issues, such as problems with the power windows or door locks, have also been noted, although less frequently.
Long-term reliability concerns revolve around the potential for rust, particularly in areas where road salt is used. The suspension components, such as struts and control arms, should be inspected for wear and tear, especially on higher mileage vehicles. The automatic transmission is generally reliable, but regular fluid changes are crucial for longevity.
While specific recalls can vary, it's advisable to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any open recalls related to the 2007 Azera, as these can address safety-related defects. Pre-purchase inspections are vital to identify any existing issues before committing to a purchase.

How long will the 2007 Hyundai Azera last?

With proper maintenance, a 2007 Hyundai Azera can reasonably reach 200,000 miles or more. Many owners have reported achieving this milestone with regular oil changes, timely servicing of the transmission, and addressing any issues promptly.
Long-term durability depends heavily on maintenance. Weaknesses over time can include the aforementioned potential for rust, wear and tear on suspension components, and possible issues with the electrical system. Neglecting regular maintenance will significantly shorten the lifespan of the vehicle. Proper care is key to maximizing the Azera's longevity.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Hyundai Azera offered a respectable level of technology for its time. Standard entertainment features included a CD player, AM/FM radio, and auxiliary input. The Limited trim added a premium sound system. Some models were equipped with an optional navigation system, which was a notable feature for that era.
Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles, but it did offer standard cruise control. Safety features were more comprehensive, including antilock brakes (ABS), traction control, stability control, and multiple airbags (front, side, and curtain airbags).
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) are available online. Generally, the 2007 Azera performed reasonably well in crash tests for its class. It's advisable to consult these sources for specific ratings.
It's important to remember that driver-assistance technology has advanced considerably since 2007, so features like blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking were not available on this model.

2007 Hyundai Azera Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2007 Hyundai Azera ranged in price from approximately $25,000 to $30,000 depending on the trim level and options. As a used vehicle, current market prices vary significantly based on condition, mileage, and location. Expect prices to range from around $3,000 to $8,000 or possibly less for models in poor condition.
Depreciation has been significant, as is typical for most vehicles, especially those in the full-size sedan segment. Factors affecting resale value include the overall condition of the vehicle, its mileage, a clean title, and a well-documented maintenance history. Demand for older full-size sedans can be lower compared to smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles, further impacting resale value.

2007 Hyundai Azera Cost of Ownership

Insurance costs for a 2007 Hyundai Azera are generally moderate, as it's not considered a high-performance or particularly risky vehicle. Fuel costs are average for its class. Maintenance can be reasonably affordable if routine services are followed. However, unexpected repairs on an older vehicle can add up. Long-term ownership costs depend heavily on the vehicle's condition and maintenance habits. While not exceptionally economical, it's not considered overly costly to own if well-maintained.

2007 Hyundai Azera Insurance

Insurance for a 2007 Hyundai Azera is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Hyundai Azera Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2007 Hyundai Azera competed with vehicles like the Toyota Avalon, Buick Lucerne, and Ford Taurus. In terms of price, the Azera often offered a lower entry point than the Avalon while providing a similar level of features. Performance was comparable to the Taurus and Lucerne, but the Avalon often felt more refined.
Reliability is where the Avalon typically held an edge, known for its long-term dependability. The Azera's reliability is generally good but might not match the Avalon's reputation. Feature-wise, the Azera was competitive, offering a good selection of standard amenities.
Alternatives to consider include the Toyota Avalon for superior reliability and resale value, or a newer, used Honda Accord or Toyota Camry for better fuel economy and modern features. If budget is a primary concern, the Azera can be a decent option, but consider the Avalon if long-term reliability is paramount. The Buick Lucerne offered a similar focus on comfort, but with a potentially less engaging driving experience.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Hyundai Azera a Good Sedan?

The 2007 Hyundai Azera is ideal for budget-conscious buyers seeking a comfortable and spacious sedan with a decent array of features. It's worth buying as a used vehicle if you prioritize value over the latest technology or absolute reliability.
It's recommended to focus on well-maintained examples with comprehensive service records. The Limited trim offers more desirable features. Thoroughly inspect the vehicle before purchase, paying close attention to potential rust, electrical issues, and the condition of the suspension. If a reliable and affordable full-size sedan is what you need, and you don't want to break the bank, the Azera could be a good option.

comfortable

It's already been 18 years. But it gives a different comfortable feeling than cars these days. The power is still great and quiet. Of course, there are many regrets, but you'll see how great this old car is these days.

Bought it new in 2007

About 2014 or so I started thinking about replacing it. Shopped and test drove many upscale used cars from 25k to 30 k price. Absolutely couldn't find a car I liked better than this Azera. It's been a great car. Holding up very well. Looks new and acts new. Only normal routine maintenance. I really wanted to buy a newer car.... but really couldn't find a car I liked better.

It's a very nice car.

Bought this car from a used car dealer and shortly after taking ownership of it, the check engine light came on. Figures. It needed a new cat. After replacing it, which wasn't too much money thankfully, the car has been great. It has lots of creature comforts and the interior is very comfortable and well thought out and appears to be made of nice materials including faux wood. We bought is with just shy of 100k miles and we've been happy with it. The only things I don't like about the car is that throttle seems a bit sensitive, it really takes off without too much throttle input, and there seems to be a lot of interior creaking while driving over bumps or in and out of driveways where the car body might be flexing a bit. I think it's just the trim panels. So far it's been a great car for the $3500 we paid for it.

209,000 miles and still going!

Replaced the shocks and struts at 170,000 miles, when I bought the car. Starter went out at 180k. But other than that it's still running on original parts. Got a pit of a rough idle after about 3 minutes just sitting, but other than that it's been great for the last 30,000 miles!

Absolutely love everything about this car.

Best car I've ever owned. Great commuter, highway and city use. Plenty of power and very reliable. Almost luxury, but very affordable. Has all the bells and whistles. Moonroof leather sound system etc.

Most comfortable car that I had owned.

First time owning a Hyundai vehicle. Had seen poor quality on older models and was pleasantly surprised upon delivery and usage of the Azera. Had considered another Azera but it was being phased out and I was not enamored with the overall looks of that vehicle.

Best Overall Car I've Ever Owned!

This car has been a daily driver for 11 years and in that time I have put over 250,000 miles on it. The car has been nearly repair free the entire time and I don't follow the regular maintenance schedule. Visually, it is still a very attractive car and, mechanically, I have never had a car that performed as well.
